      Honestly, by only making your film available on iTunes and nowhere else you are cockblocking a whole part of your potential audience.
      I don't own any apple products. My last apple product was iphone 3gs and after that i decided not to continue on that path.
      Therefore, i do not deal with iTunes and probably never will.
      By only releasing on iTunes, i will not be able to support you (even though i would like to)..
      In todays world you NEED to make your product accessible, and only releasing it on one platform is a huge mistake in my opinion.

    At this point, I'm surprised Corridor doesn't have a 3D Scan of THAT Under-Highway spot given how often they've filmed there.

    Jude, not gonna lie, when I saw your face in the thumbnail I instantly pegged you as a grumpy, pessimistic, veteran of film that wasnt going to enjoy sharing what he knows. Now, after watching this video I stand completely corrected. You are one of the most knowledgeable and coolest people I've listened to. You are well spoken and I appreciate the fact that you know how to communicate the knowledge you've gained throughout your time in the business. My question to you is, do you think it's beneficial to pursue film as a hobby? I don't plan on commiting most of my life to film just yet, because I have some goals in my life I'm trying to complete now. Should I continue making small videos and things just in my spare time?

    • @aus-li
      @aus-li 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      james green I think you should definitely continue doing your “hobby”. A “hobby” can potentially become your job in the future. It’s always a learning experience and you may subconsciously perceive “filming” to be a “hobby”, but ultimately, you’re doubting yourself. Just keep researching and stay confident, while listening to those who criticize your work, as someone’s opinion may help you down the line, but I’d say listen to those who are being sincere and honest towards your work.

      I've been editing videos on and off since high school, really just as a hobby/a skill I'm interested in honing and despite the fact that I'm pursuing a different career path. Never thought it would make for anything on my CV/resume other than a "here's a fun hobby I do so I can show I'm a well-rounded person", but I recently managed to land an Events Management gig thanks to me being able to talk about my video-making experience as they were keen to have someone on the team with some knowledge in this area.
      So yeah mate, abso-fucking-lutely: keep making videos, even if they're just small. You never know where honing such a skill might take you.

Jude was awesome and I would've given an arm and a leg to have a resource like this for hints and tips when I started out in the industry. Those snippets of advice from a veteran producer are priceless! Would love to see Jude back again. Thanks Corridor! I want to be an actor, I mostly study theatre but in the end and actor is and actor no matter what field of entertainment.
    This video really helps me out to figure out how exactly to get into the business of acting even though he is talking about directing he has sad similar things that I've heard from the millions of actors I've watched in panels and interviews. Thanks a whole bunch Corridor.

    • @aus-li
      @aus-li 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucid Psycho I honestly don't think "acting" is that reliable. I mean, where is your final destination on this vague ambition? It's way too mainstream and it's all about being attractive to get any real attention thee days.
      Don't rely on acting, be open-minded in the art world. Try to expand your horizons on the countless of other fields when it comes to storytelling or filmmaking. Being a "famous" actor is sort of a myth, but with years of dedication and luck, you might be able to make it in the acting world...just don't get your hopes too high.

      VoidX Apologies, I interpreted your comment as a lot more negative. I want to do any type of acting. Stage, TV, Film and especially voice acting.

    • @aus-li
      @aus-li 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucid Psycho I wasn’t being “negative” in the least, just realistic, lol
      Yes, I know what ya mean. The thing about voice acting, is that you have to do a ton of theater work and you don’t get paid well unless you’re lucky enough to be on an on-going series. But I’m sure if you’re willing to do anything with acting, then you’ll eventually make connections and be lucky to act in something worthwhile. I hope the best for you, dude!

    I know this question isnt directly for his position being a director and a producer but I'd really appreciate it if you could ask how a set photographer plays a role in a film. I have a deep passion for photography and a huge appreciation for the art of film making, especially those that incorporate practical effects, and im looking for a way to merge these two worlds. Insight from the man himself or even you guys at corridor would mean the world to me. Keep up the fantastic work on both channels, you guys are true inspirations to all aspiring content creators and artists.

    Jude, thank you for taking time to hang out with the Corridor crew and answer questions. When you mentioned the process of producers coming on line first for a script, what about the script pitching process catches the producers attention the most? In your opinion, what makes or breaks a script pitch? Thank you again for your help and for Corridor hooking us up!

    • @aus-li
      @aus-li 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      allseeingdragon006 I don't think you should "trust" this individuals "opinion" on what "makes or breaks a script pitch". As he said, he's controlled by the "elites" and the annoying group that gives you limitations on what you're trying to accomplish. Hollywood isn't dependable...believe me.
      You should start by doing storyboards, as I believe they're more interesting and should get your the attention of your audience/demographic very easily. Scripts are outdated, imo, but if you feel that confident in dialogue and backgrounds scenes, try it.

    At what age did you start working in the film industry?
    Did you do a lot of commercial work before films, and if so how did you transition to working on films?
    When working as a PA, do you have any advice to network with people and be seen as a hard worker at the same time?
    Have you had trouble balancing your career and your personal relationships?

    So... the same bridge location as in Nerf Team Fortress, Portal Trick Shots, Photoreal and a few other stuff either here or on FreddieW's? Good thing you went location scouting.

    My question would be: Who is "more in charge"? The director or the producer?

    • @hackedtechnothief
      @hackedtechnothief 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tom Koopmann producer can tell the director what it can or cannot do because it's the person responsible for the budget and organization of everything including time. It is necesary to put limitations because the project is on a deadline.

      Personally I would compare filming to a car. The director is the engine while the producer is the steering wheel. Without the engine, a car won't even start. Nothing will work. Similarly, a movie production without a director is absolutely unheard of because it requires a single person with a vision to push everyone towards that vision. Meanwhile, most modern steering wheels have a lot of functions, but its ultimate goal is to prevent a car from crashing. A producer might be involved in a lot of different aspects of a shoot but the producer's main goal is to make sure everything moves in harmony with the director while also making sure the director doesn't drive the shoot into the ground.

    Question for Jude, what's the worst experience you had on a set? Whether it be crazy people, terrible weather, etc.
    Interesting video thanks for having him on! I'll for sure check out his movie.

    This is a really inspiring video for a young guy like me (23). I'm out in LA right now working on becoming a Producer. The whole thing about having the right attitude really rang home for me, always trying new jobs, learning as much as I can about every role and trying to be the best I can at whatever I'm asked to do. I've currently been producing short films and music videos, but I want to get into narrative features. I've been doing the freelance PA thing on the side to get myself exposed to the larger industry, but I was wondering if Drew had any advice on what the right steps are to get into features. Do I work an office job? Do I stay freelance? How do you work your way into getting recognized as a fully-fledged feature producer?

    In high school I started making small films but never really got anything good out there. They were all pretty cringe but it's pretty fun. We are hoping to make some good stuff so I'm glad to see this video

    I always watched ya'll's channel and every time I saw your RED Epic Dragon, I would think to myself: "Dang, I would love to shoot on a RED. My films would be so much better if I had one of those!" Then I shot a short film (not for profit, just for fun) on a RED Scarlet, and I realized that, the Scarlet at least, was a lot of extra hassle to film and edit with than it was worth. I quickly realized that I don't need fancy cameras to make good content. I need good creators, not good equipment.

    My roommate said, "Tacos for movie tips? Really?!"
    I said, "If you got me good tacos, I'd point out how to get the best protection from your insurance policies. But you're vegan, so I know you'd never get me good tacos."
