Saw him selling coconut opposite DHL office at Adum. Ironically I had gone for my stamped passport so he knew and called me over and we became friends from then. We came here same year and have been tight since then. His story is worth emulating.

He started a big business but left it. He could have grown this to a big company, started his own Coconut farm and all, but the lure of traveling abroad destroyed this dream.

He can use 5yrs to raise enough funds towards his vision in Ghana... there are a lot of limiting factors when running a business with no backbone in Ghana...
He won't regret his decision... he just has to focus on the bigger picture

Very nice interview! Work be work as long as you’re not stealing. In U.S those from Eastern Europe,North Africa, and Yemen selling livestock are very rich. They own beautiful homes in upscale neighborhoods and have their children in best schools!

Our mentality abt certain jobs is very bad. Imagine my son telling me that, his class teacher told them in class that, if they grow up to become coconut sellers, he the teacher wud not even talk to them if he sees them. He expects them to become doctors, lawyers, policemen and etc. But I told my child that, every business that gives you money is not a bad business. There's nothing like a bad job as the teacher was telling them. I told him that, some coconut sellers are making more money than his teacher in the classroom. Imagine oo.

It’s very sad, we were all made to think that way but entrepreneurship is very good. People who have money in abroad are mostly those people.

That teacher is just limited in his understanding...
      I was a teacher for 7yrs...
And now I import phone accessories... I make more the 8x my last pay as a teacher...
In my final year as a teacher, I used the whole year to save 7000gh...
After 3yrs doing importation, I make not less than 20,000gh revenue monthly...
So that teacher is like I said limited in his thinking

I will advise any first-time traveller to avoid transit flights as much as possible especially the arab airlines such as air maroc, Egypt air, emirate and turkish. If you can afford fly direct or use european flight. Ghana is good only when you earn much but travelling is for hustlers, travelling isn't for the money alone but the exposure is an education in its own
