Had Sonja been smarter than she could have saved herself and most importantly her unborn child, could have kept the secret and then escape the coven after Lucian death (which he would have wanted)
She told Viktor that she's pregnant because she thought that he'll be more kind but he's still so cruel
She horribly horribly miscalculated how much her father hated Lycans it's easy for us the audience to criticize her decision but she's his baby "no way he would actually go through with what he did right"
True...but they were "young-ish" and "in-love", they wanted to be a family, raise the child together etc
Wow.. You can really feel the pain of Lucien's loss when he screams at the end. Michael Sheen did an amazing job.
Because werewolves have feelings unlike those undead monsters vampires but vampires here are living monsters not undead like the original folklore

I can see the resemblance between Selene and Sonja. Especially, the long-haired, frantic Selene looking at the dead bodies of her family. Watching Selene turned into a lycan killing machine after that is just 😎
Though Selene is much smarter, more ruthless and a more dedicated warrior than Sonja

Lucian gave Viktor the perfect payback. Viktor spent his last moments being thrown around by the very "monstrosity" that he killed his own daughter to stop from existing and was ultimately destroyed in a surprise attack by someone who he spent centuries considering to be his new daughter.

Viktor himself was also punished. He loved his daughter but had to vote for her death to prove his loyalty to the coven. He couldn't just allow her to leave because there were soldiers present and he couldn't possibly have controlled or silenced so many witnesses. And he couldn't risk losing control of the Council...he was painted into a corner. And so he had to lose his only child.

But due to Marcus Corvinus' brother William Corvinus' uncontrolled behavior as a Werewolf (who could not change back to human form, it was Victor who received the most votes from the council). Victor received no punishment. Not until Selene found out Victor's dark secret from the traitor Craven. That it was Victor who started the years-long blood war between the Death dealers and the werewolves and not Lucian Corvinus. Then she took her sword and cut his head in two.
It was Selene who punished Victor.
Craven for his treachery, he received his punishment, when Marcus Corvinus awoke from his slumber. Marcus in his hybrid bat form said:
The memories of this poor creature reveals your treachery against this Covin Craven, has no limits.
Then he caught him with the claws of his wings and pierced them through him and bit him to get his memory (from his blood). Also Marcus Finish him off.
And found out for William's prison was.
My brother I will free you.
And we can rule together in my new kingdom.
Me as a God. Craven's blood memory revealed what Selene was and what she had done with Victor. He explained to Craven that Victor received punishment as deserved.
He stabbed Michael Corvinus and took hold of Selene and bit her to find her blood memory from her childhood and he took with him the key also to his brother's prison which he found with his father Corvinus Alexander. Selene did what she could to help Michael, he woke up to fight together, with Selene against the Werewolves, William and Marcus. Michael killed William and Selene Marcus. The team of Alexander Corvinus joined the battle as support aid.
Some of them were bitten by William and transformation was underway. They were shot.He had no Phobia for Lycans. He had or Phobia for the child in Sonja's womb (because it was 50 percent werewolf and 50 percent vampire). He only wanted 100 percent vampire, and did not mix blood with werewolves because he said werewolves were uncontrollable beasts) (Victor's description of werewolves transformed by William's bite). Because when Victor's daughter spoke out against her own father, he explained why she was sentenced to death by sunlight (that child of yours is not a pure vampire).

Lycans are a type of werewolf that can walk on two that are very tall and powerfully muscled. They can run fast with their hind legs and can use their front legs for support. Victor was not born a Death Dealer Vampyr, he was actually a human being a warlord (military) who ruled strictly. And punished treason severely.
Marcus Corvinus the first male Elder Death Dealer vampire (bitten by Bat) gave Victor vampire powers. The only Phobia Victor had was that the purebred vampire covin was exterminated. (Something Marcus had explained to Victor about what the consequences would be if he killed both William and me at the same time). That is why he decided together with Amelia that William should be locked up in a prison forever, far from his brother Marcus.
Therefore, Sonja was sentenced to death because Lucian Corvinus was the father of The Child of yours, which he told her. When she protested.
William Corvinus is a werewolf who can never transform back into human form again, he called these uncontrollable beasts.
He kept Lucian as a pet and was part of Victor's slavery.
Lucian had a captive chain around his neck. It was forbidden to take it off.

Sonja (Victoria's daughter) was sentenced to execution by her own father, consulted by the Council of members of the "Elders", because he found that she was pregnant and Lucian was the child's father.
It wasn't for the sake of showing his loyalty to The Covin. Victor was one of the "elders" himself and the supreme leader of the vampire clan Death Dealers, he feared the child in his daughter's belly because it was not a full-blooded vampire, but half werewolf.
And werewolves Victor described as wild beasts.
And mixed blood was seen as "High" treason to The Covin. Because it was a living rule and it was written in the vampire law.
So the sun was her punishment.
And her "lover" was flogged in public and tied up, while he was forced to watch his "mistress" burn to ashes.
Victor in the underworld was known as a very "strict" father.
He enforced the rules of living law as a high "priority".
Victor loved his daughter Sonja, but when she broke the law, he had no choice but to let her taste the consequences for betraying her own "kind".
Lucian suffered the grief of love, he became frustrated with Victor and went wild with rage, transformed in anger and escaped from Victor's strict "rule".
Victor, in memory of his "beloved" daughter Sonja, he failed to kill the girl child Selene(human). Instead, he gave her "vampire" powers and raised her as a: "daughter".
Selene grew up as a strong Death Dealer Vampyr warrior.
She shot many of the werewolves who could no longer transform back into human form (werewolves created by William Corvinus' bite).
including those werewolves in a lab with human research. Which were treated as objects 1,2,3 etc. As test rabbits.

Victor was not born into the Death Dealers clan and into this Vampyr Covin. He was first known as a strict and hard army leader (military) as a person.
He was bitten by Marcus, on his deathbed.
Marcus told Victor that he could give him eternal life if he promised to follow Marcus' rules. Victor said yes.
Then Marcus gave Victor vampire powers.
Marcus also explained to Victor, what the consequences would be if he broke my rules. It was this that was really the only Phobia Victor had. he was afraid of what would happen if he killed Marcus's brother William and Marcus himself. Therefore, Victor locked William far away from Marcus and in a prison forever.
Victor hid the key inside himself.

He is the Descendent of Alexander Corvinus the First True Immortal, the Distant Grand Nephew of Marcus and William Corvinus the First Vampire and Werewolf. Not to mention that Michael defeated William.
Also being bitten by Lucian the first Lycan and then bitten by Selene the greatest Death Dealer ever. Who is now one of the 3 new Elders. Not to mention that he is the first Hybrid.
Put all of this together. This makes Michael not only the rightful leader of the Lycans. But all Immortals. Also if Michael becomes leader of the Lycans and he marries Selene.
Then that could definitely bring true ever lasting peace. With the leaders of both races being husband and wife and having a child together.
In a way for filing the wish that Lucian and Sonja had.

He would only do it if it's a real role. Same for Kate Beckinsale. She said she would only come back if it's a good story and not some cash grab. Although Blood Wars was a bit of a cash grab.

Worth noting that only "older and more powerful" Lycans have the ability to change form at will - Lucian does it in this movie but he's been alive for two hundred years at this point. Most of the Lycans in this movie only transform with the full moon, trapping them in relatively vulnerable human form the rest of the time.

Within a human lifetime of Viktor's death the humans and the surviving Lycans had pushed the vampires to the brink of extinction. Their only hope following Blood Wars is to spread Selene's gift of UV resistance as widely as possible so they can blend in with the general public.
