I just found this and I LOVE that you include mistakes and didn't edit them out!!!! It helps me learn and be aware! You are a good teacher without words! Also, trivial, but I really appreciate your music choice. I didn't want to mute it and it became rather "zen" watching you!
Thanks so much, Gina! That binding was a serious task lol. But I had alot of fun doing it! It was my first time, so I'm sure eventually I'll bind like a pro.......ya right lol. Thanks for watching!
fell out of my chair laughing when you sewed a signature in up side down. your hand gesture said it all. Good to know I am not the only one who has done that. But truthfully the cover is knock dead beautiful.
lol and there were sound affects with those hand gestures too...good thing you couldn't hear them LOL. Seems it's a common blunder. Thanks so much, Carol! 😊
Thanks for watching, Michele! Ya, those corner punches are way too much for me spend money on when I have so many round things around me to trace lolll.
I watched this the other night..totally forgot to comment..but it's all good because I came back to watch it again!!😁 Firstly, I agree with Heather...this ain't no junk journal!! I'd pay good money to own one like that!! Secondly, that texture and colour on the covers *Insert drool emoji..if they had one!!* So LUSH!!!! And when you added the gold..oh boy! That made my heart sing!! I love the drippage on the inside covers and flicks! Gotta love Flickage and Drippage. lol. I also love the closure, GENIUS!! All in all..I absolutely love this journal!! (p.s. sorry for the long comment...just so much lush-ness to comment on! lol) 😘 xox
+LucyOodleDoo Awww thanks so much, Lucy! And don't apologize...I accept all comments pertaining to the lush-ness loll. I had a drool moment when I aded the burnt orange to the crimson! If you could only hear me! Actually, it's best you couldnt LOL. Thanks again, girl! I'll definitely do more! I may even do one for a giveaway when I hit 1000! Shhhh.... ;) lol
+LucyOodleDoo Lucy...why are you in here commenting and not going out right now to get a bunch of tattoos?? You watched my vid, right? You now know your purpose in life. And its to get tatted up!! lollllllll.
So pretty! I am mesmerized with this! I want to get a junk journal or something like this so bad!!! Thank you for sharing. I could never make something like this.
+Shel C Thanks, Shel! I know what you mean, I almost want to leave it alone. But I also want to play around with the different textures in it! Should be fun!
Hi Sam… I'm so glad you told me where to find the video that makes your junk journal. I just finished watching it and it is amazing! So glad I found you. I will start looking for my books to use and papers to add. I can't wait to start. Thanks again for sharing your amazing talent.👩🏼🎨👩🏼🎨👩🏼🎨💋
+Annabelle Avila you know what, I just realized I had told u that u could find the making of my denim journal pad in my MTL playlist and that's not even where it is. It's in the "the making of" playlist...Which I guess u ended up finding since you've now seen the junk journal too lol. Sorry about that! So glad u liked the vid and yes, definitely pull out some old books and papers and make one too! Although I struggled with the binding, it was super fun to make! Tfw
I am new to junk journaling. I have only attempted one. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I love your style. One thing I love most is that you let us see your mistake (upside down signature). It gives me courage to try to make another journal. If someone as talented and experienced as you can make a mistake, I can forgive myself and try again!!!
Beautiful journal! I agree with others below, this is definately NOT a junk journal..it's too pretty! Also, thank you for leaving in your mistake and how you fixed it.
I love your style 👍 even tho there was no talking. I really enjoyed watching your tutorial...i had to giggle wen you sewd in the signature upside down that was funny but at the same time REAL awsome work x
I realized this year that I love making signatures and I prefer to sew them in; but I find the covers a little intimidating; I will have to try this! Great journal!
hey there 😊 thanks so much! that bottle has white gesso in it. I should probably label that for future videos. thanks for pointing it out! and thanks for watching ☺
Really nice journal. I enjoyed watching this video. I haven't made a journal but this has inspired me to try as well. I just subscribed to your channel. Btw, I think your tattoos are really nice and creative. When someone makes judgments against you it speaks way more about them than it does you.
Yes, just the one piece. I haven't worked alot in the journal yet so I'm not sure how well it'll hold up...but when tugging on the pages it seems pretty sturdy. I planned to reinforce each page that isnt fabric with masking tape down the midle before designing anything on it that includes any water media...maybe that will help. This was my first time altering a cover like this...have you used packing tape in the past with bad results? Maybe I should be ready for it lol...
KissMyCreative no I've never tried packing tape, my next book I'm going to try that Kraft tex paper fabric so I don't have to sew on the book at all. I love your video and plan on doing some mixed media with my altered books.
Sharleen Ralph Thanks! that's awesome! sounds like it would work out great! This was my first (and only) junk journal and I love how it turned out. I should dust it off and play!
Thanks for watching, gracist! I agree, gold is everything! I use it constantly and its all over the cover lol. but I'm assuming you meant on the wooden heart? after doing it, especially in person, it looked pretty janky lol. just didn't fit the wood. but I loooove gold too!
Stumbled across your video, love how you did the cover, what type of paper did you use on the front to scrunch? Those paints are fabulous, I just have plain old cheap ones! Where did you get the little heart and clip thingies? Turned out beautiful! :)
Hey Susan :) The paper used on the cover was regular tissue paper used for gifts. And the paints are actually super cheap! I usually pay about $1.49 each. They're just craft paints. But they're great!! The heart & chains are from old jewelry. Thanks so much for watching. Glad you liked it!
wow, that was tissue paper? came out beautifully, and thank you for letting me know about the heart and chains, I may try with my cheap acrylic paints :)) Thank you :)
Susan Fraser Yup! You really don't need expensive products to make nice stuff! I'm the first one to go for the cheapest option lol. Try the craft paints! Thanks again for watching :)
You did a beautiful job👏🏼...maybe research the book before gutting(no criticism just an idea🤷🏽♀️,) some are really cool finds that you might find inspiring to hold on to✌🏽📿🕉☯️🙏🏽
Lol omg it was sooooo frustrating lol. But well worth it in the end. Funny thing is, I used cheap embroidery thread so it'll probably fall apart once I get it wet with all kinds of mediums lol
wow i love this journal. you did an excellent job. what is the white paint that you used first ? is it just a regular paint? thanks for sharing new sub here and i cant wait fkr the give away😉
Thanks so much! And welcome to my channel :) The giveaway is unfortunately closed though. The winner was announced on my other social media this past Monday. But there will be more in the future! Follow the giveaway host tagged in the description of the giveaway vid.. She does monthly giveaways with some cool stuff! :)
Nooooooooo.......!!! Sam! Like a lottery ticket with the wrong numbers on it, that upside down signature was still a winner! With your creative imagination, you could have come up with something so totally unique to your art style, you would have had us all in a tither. Sometimes simple mistakes challenge us to become better thinkers, problem solvers..., better artists! "Try" to let go of the "mistake" mentality and embrace the uniqueness of the situation, in order to overcome what you see as a blooper. As a dear man once said..., "There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents". - Bob Ross 💚💙💛
You are SO right! I definitely have to let go of the mistake/fail mentally. I do it alot lol. Thanks girl ❤️ you're the best! P.S. don't forget to email me. I'm not sure how to contact you through here.
I hope you don't mind, I'll have to send it tomorrow and I can't wait. Today was a mess of doctor appointments, therapy and a new med that kicked my butt to the curb. Life is good though!! New Doc., new med., and a new potentially positive pathway out of pain. Fill you in more tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your evening and look for an email from me tomorrow. Hope your back is doing better!! 💖
Hey magee (I know that's not ur name right? My crappy memory fails me. Sorry! Lol). Hope ur doing well!.....I had a couple questions about that Cricut. Figured since you've owned one you'd be best to educate lol. Shoot me an email or give me urs! 😊 Chat soon ❤️
You sewed it in upside down for us - so we could remember to check before we sew OR to see that an oops is not a big deal OR...LOL You sure tried to use that gold paint in there but never did seem to like it. Isn't that frustrating. I want to use this but I just don't like anything I do with it. Been there. I enjoy your channel. Cheers
It's a great little book, BUT I have to object to demolishing a perfectly nice example of Kahlil Gibran. The Prophet is a classic and for a reason... as you changed the covers completely, it would have been better not to destroy a book, but to make covers from scratch. It's not difficult. (If the example was not perfectly nice, then I'd appreciate if you showed in the next video how the pages were torn or drawn onto or something... even if you have to "fake" the destruction, and "prepare" the book in beforehand and doodle something in it yourself... :-D Just not show that part :-D)
+Ketutar Jensen Hi Ketutar. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion. I am aware that there are people such as yourself who do not like when books are re-purposed/recycled, which is totally ok with me. To each their own and I would never tell you to be anything but yourself :) However, this is the way in which I chose to do my art journal, and not only was the cover recycled, but the book pages have been kept and will also be put to use. The book itself had no meaning to me personally and was found in a recycling bin. It would have been recycled and reused somehow anyway. Just a suggestion... if you see me post a video in the future making another junk journal then maybe skip that video and not watch it. I'm pretty sure I will use old books again in the future to recycle and I wouldn't want to offend the book lovers lol. Thanks again for watching :)
I'm not offended by people repurposing books, I do it myself as well, it's just some books I have problems with - like books that look perfectly nice... that someone just tossed it in garbage doesn't make it any better, on the contrary... Nevertheless, my intention was not to judge you or berate your or anything like that, I was suggesting something to make the blow feel less for people to whom books are almost sacred... a little bit of...I don't know how to express it in English... everyone knows it's acting, but also understands why, so one can appreciate the gesture... that is, to say the book is not in good condition, even if you have to make it so yourself... some doodles with a marker in a couple of pages, or a ripped page wouldn't make the paper unusable to you, but would make the book less valuable as a book, if you understand what I mean. But, by all means, your channel, your videos, your books, you do what ever you like.
+Ketutar Jensen Hi there :) I do totally understand how u feel and what you're saying. I guess I just don't feel like I should have to do anything I wouldn't normally do. Essentially, I do my art for me and my process alot of times just comes from within and what my heart and soul is telling me to create, so to do something outside of my creative process for the sole purpose of pleasing others who may be watching, kind of defeats the whole thing to me. you know what I mean? I hope I'm not sounding rude or anything. I really do appreciate your feedback. I guess I just want to do what I want when it comes to art and I'm not usually thinking about others in those moments. Could be a bit selfish, but if think if there's one thing I can be selfish about in this life, it's my art lol.
Hey there Lynn, thanks for watching, but unfortunately, as you can see in the video, the book has already been altered lol. But why have you been looking for this book for over 30 yrs??? You can get it in pretty much any book store. And if you would prefer to order it online you can get it on amazon for about $10. It's actually a very easily accessible book. Hope that helps and you're able to get yourself a copy soon :) Have a great day.
I'm not sure if I should say thank you or not lol. Thanks for watching? I'm not a teacher and I don't make step by step tutorial videos, I mostly just share my art journey through my process and many people get great inspiration from it. There are a plethora of wonderful artists on TH-cam who do step by step walkthroughs that I'm sure you'd love. One good thing is that these videos have comment sections meant for conversation and questions should u have one. I'm always here to answer. Anywho, sorry u thought it was the worst video but hey, such is life. I definitely don't expect to please everyone on the internet. That's just impossible lol.
I just found this and I LOVE that you include mistakes and didn't edit them out!!!! It helps me learn and be aware! You are a good teacher without words! Also, trivial, but I really appreciate your music choice. I didn't want to mute it and it became rather "zen" watching you!
Aww thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed it...mistakes and all! lol. Thanks for watching :)
Loved watching this video and I appreciate your humor in the binding part of creating these journals. Thanks so much for sharing your talent.xo
Thanks so much, Gina! That binding was a serious task lol. But I had alot of fun doing it! It was my first time, so I'm sure eventually I'll bind like a pro.......ya right lol. Thanks for watching!
this is my FAVORITE Art Journal for life. I can't wait to begin working on my own. Thank you for being so inspiring.

fabulous!!! And I'm super impressed that you redid that signature... I think I would have glued another envelope on top of it lol
Thanks Vicky! LOL that would have been a great workaround!
I love that you didn't need an expensive corner punch! Thanks, this was fun to watch.
Thanks for watching, Michele! Ya, those corner punches are way too much for me spend money on when I have so many round things around me to trace lolll.

Thank so much, crystal! So glad you like it. And I'm sure you can make it! I made it look alot harder than it actually is lol.
Great job on the journal :) It seems too pretty to splash paint and glue all over. I will enjoy seeing your pages come to life :)
+Shel C Thanks, Shel! I know what you mean, I almost want to leave it alone. But I also want to play around with the different textures in it! Should be fun!
So very nice....love the cover.....love the colors!!!! I've made one of these as well....and they are fun to create!
Thanks so much, Ricki! I agree, it was super fun. Lil frustrations and all! lol
So lovely. I love your work!
+Tammy Brackett thanks Tammy ☺
In LOVE with this!! I would have had to do the same thing with the upside down signature. We crafters can be awfully picky. LOL
+JokersSoul 69 Thanks! As much as I disliked the sewing part, I just had to fix it! I'm too anal when it comes to things like that lolll.

This is absolutely beautiful. Can you tell me what the first application is? You held up a small jar with no label. Just wondering... TFS.
hey there 😊 thanks so much! that bottle has white gesso in it.
Thanks so much K soul! I'm so glad I could inspire you and thank you so much for your kind words. what you said about people judging is so very true 😊
Helping you reach a 1000 subbies. I'm looking forward to watching your previous videos.
Thanks so much Janet!
did you only use one piece of packing tape, and does that hold it together ok ? I've always used duct tape and quite a bit of it.
Yes, just the one piece. I haven't worked alot in the journal yet so I'm not sure how well it'll hold up...but when tugging on the pages it seems pretty sturdy. Kissm creative 😮😮😮😗😚
Wish you would clarify what you are doing! Is that cloth or tissue paper on the cover that you are painting?
Hey there Maggie, it was tissue paper 😊
Why oh why did you not keep the gold touches? They were so lovely......a bit of golden shine makes everything more beautiful!
Thanks for watching, gracist! I agree, gold is everything! I use it constantly and its all over the cover lol. but I'm assuming you meant on the wooden heart? after doing it, especially in person, it looked pretty janky lol. just didn't fit the wood. but I loooove gold too!

Yup! You really don't need expensive products to make nice stuff! I'm the first one to go for the cheapest option lol. Try the craft paints! Thanks again for watching :)
I'm thinking Christmas presents for my art journal class leaders 🎄
I think thats a great idea!
I have done that, upside down....yup!!
Susan Hill lol glad I'm not the only one!
Lovely

+Eva Rene Thanks Eva! Ive actually read the book and still have it. Ive only repurposed the cover (which didn't hold much value to me) 😊
Very pretty junk journal!

Could be a bit selfish, but if think if there's one thing I can be selfish about in this life, it's my art lol.
please do not alter this book I have been looking for it for over 30 years
Hey there Lynn, thanks for watching, but unfortunately, as you can see in the video, the book has already been altered lol. But why have you been looking for this book for over 30 yrs??? You can get it in pretty much any book store. And if you would prefer to order it online you can get it on amazon for about $10. It's actually a very easily accessible book. Hope that helps and you're able to get yourself a copy soon :) Have a great day.
Lovely journal ...... worst video!
