Aviationist101, Path to a Pilot Seat
Once you are qualified and been selected to join the Air Force as a Commissioned Officer you will take this path to get your wings.
1.) Complete Officer Training through one of the following (AF Academy, AF ROTC, OTS)
2.) Enter Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) and begin your flight training. (@ 1 year)
3.) Nearing completion of Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) you will be assigned an Aircraft. It's called getting your Seat Assignment. This is determined by these factors: Class Ranking, training performance reports, instructor recommendations, your aircraft preferences, and Air Force needs.

Jaxon, Yes, having a Private Pilot’s License will raise the chances of getting a pilot’s slot.
To ask more detailed questions you should speak with a recruiter.
To be eligible to apply for Officer Training School (OTS) one must be a US citizen, have ANY baccalaureate degree or be within 365 days of graduating (a senior), you must have earned a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Officer Training School (OTS) is a selection process. Just applying does not guarantee being selected. OTS is very competitive.

@@USAirForceRecruiting essentialy i am asking 3 questions ---- 1. How long after completing basic training and what requirements necessary after completing basic training before being able to apply to OTS. Is bachelor degree the only requirement or is there more. If bachelor degree is the only requirement than can I apply to OTS directly after basic training or within a few months of basic training completion since I have my bachelor degree already. 2. the four year insta office options are rotc and airforce acadamy and both of these take 4 years of your life just to become an officer. 4 years of life wasted which could have been gone to the career, but nope they dont let you fly planes even though your in aviation background. Well lets say you do either one of those and after 4 years you finally put in your package for pilot slot once you are an officer but there is no guarantee for the slot and no guarantee for the aircrat type as well. So how can I become an airforce pilot within the next year or so? the only route i see is, talk to a recruiter, join and finish basic training, do whatever needes to apply to OTS in the fastest amount of time possible, after becoming an officer and completing OTS put in a package for pilot, hopefully get accepted, go through pilot training, and boom now an airforce pilot.

In Top Gun: Maverick was it really justified to need those old F-18s for that strike mission? Couldn't the F-22 or F-35 have done that low level mountain valley flying just as well or better? I know the F-22 is not a Navy jet, but was it more that the film makers needed some arbitrary reason to use the two-seater F18s so the actors could sit in the back seat for the realism of the film? One more question, we know the DoD collaborates with Hollywood for these movies (see recent article in The Guardian), but why do Hollywood actors need to sit in the planes at all, why don't you just train some of your fighter pilots to be good actors and then they can fly the nice new single seater stealth planes? Then we can see some F-22s, F-35s in action. Or is that going to give away too many secrets about performance etc.

Candidates who successfully pass this test will be processed for a waiver. You will need to gather your medical/pharmacy records for this condition and provide them to your recruiter. The doctor at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) will make the determination of whether or not your situation is disqualifying.
