One of the best trait of Tadano is that he's very *RELIABLE* . He only blushes a little doesn't chicken out much in front of Komi in any embarrassing moment. Instead he tries to ease out the situation making Komi comfortable. Komi basically gets spoiled by Tadano.

The peak Alpha, the man that actually HAS an opinion and dont follow other characters, his appearance might be bland, but his manliness is just next level

Okay maybe its bias and maybe the Chad radiates from his body to my retinas, but... his design isn't even bland to me. Until we meet other more unique characters, I would say that his hair is the best hair I have ever seen a protagonist have.

I think the best part about Tadano is that, while he definitely had feelings for Komi that he tried to push down, she also wasn't his entire world even then, you know? A lot of RomCom Protagonists only ever focus on the object of their affection, and that's it. All the stories revolve around that one person, or trying to be better so they can match that one person, etc. When other people come into play, there's very little focus on what their relationship is with those other people, unless they become an obstacle for the main couple. So it all becomes very...tunneled.
Chadano, on the other hand, is different. He has a life outside of Komi. You see him doing things for his parents, you see him hang out with his guy friends, his girl friends, and Najimi. He thinks about Komi a lot, definitely, and he hangs around Komi more than anyone else, but unlike other RomCom protagonists, she isn't the only thing or person he cares about. You watch how his relationships with various people around the school develop, because they don't exist simply for the sake of moving him and Komi forward. I really think that sets him apart as an MC.
That's a great point. The cool thing about Chadano is that even if Komi didn't exist, his character would still be plenty interesting and could probably still carry the series.

One of the most recent chapters double downs on this. (Spoilers ahead)
There’s a student one year younger than Tadano and Komi named Imotou Ribbon. Originally, they plan to get to get closer to Komi and become her #1 best friend, but Tadano is always there, so she can’t approach. Her plan, then, is to expose him by taking pictures of Tadano being a horrible human being.
The problem? Tadano is so nice, so humble, so 100% gigachad that they cannot find any dirt on him. It got to the point that Ribbon *forfeits their mission to get closer to Komi, and chooses to get closer to Tadano instead.* And even when things get outta hand, Tadano is genuinely nice to them, offers to be their friend with no spiteful motives, and still flatter Komi by the end of the chapter.

Truly he has no equal.

Komi is most worshipped girl in the school, treated as a goddess. Katai is (unintentionally) the most feared guy in the school, both are actually incredibly shy. Tadano comes in and treats both of them like normal people, casually befriends both of them, supports and helps them out of their shell, and even manages to make both of them develop feelings for him

I still remember his greatest moment, when he had to help the teacher during the parent teacher meeting and listed every good quality of every single one of his classmates based on what he observed alone
Najimi may be everyone's childhood friend, but Chadano is the kind of guy who will be your friend forever. Some of my favorite scenes in the series aren't when he's just being nice to Komi, but when he's actively engaging with and improving the lives of those around him. It's so wholesome how the 2nd year class rallies around him unlike the horrible 1st years.
The first year class was brutal lol but there was something comfy about those early chapters when there wasn't a billion characters.

And the woman who actually likes Katai(the woman that gave him a chocolate on Valentines episode) is also great... Though, wonder what happened to that woman though, she hasn't been showing up in the manga either... Katai deserved his woman as well and that woman came to my mind... Even the glasses guy(one of Tadano's homies) who is so confident in his beauty actually has a love life as well, he is with the woman who I think named is Ase(the girl who is always sweaty when she is talking to someone) but actually cute as well
The confession chapters cemented this series for me. The whole time I was like "YES YES! DON'T WUSS OUT LIKE EVERY OTHER ROMCOM PROTAG! SAY IT!" And he not only says it frankly, but *clarifies his position.* And LO AND BEHOLD the series continued _after_ the confession and subsequent official dating status _and their relationship is totally fine without the constant will-they-won't-they BS._ Totally worth the wait. I haven't been this satisfied with a confession before the series end since March Comes in like a Lion. Just further proof that you don't need to drag the romance out for the entire run of the series if you want to keep their character dynamic.
The clarification was the best part. Our man left no room for doubt, just took care of business. An absolute romcom legend.

I fell in love with Komi and Tadano during the first anime episode, watching as Tadano instantly recognised Komi's communication disorder and found a way for her to simply talk with him utilising the blackboard and some chalk.
The series definitely starts strong in having us love Tadano.

@@SCLASSAnime Have you checked out Toradora? It's a bit older, but the anime is really great and pretty sweet. Then there's always Ore Monogatari, which is extremely cute. And if you want to check out an action based romantic anime, try Chivalry of a Failed Knight; it first makes you think that it'd become a harem anime, but quickly turns out to be a pretty sweet love story.
Edit: All of these have pretty perceptive male leads that understand other characters feelings toward them. Takes a while for the duo in Toradora, but the ending episodes are more than worth it.
Edit edit: Haiyore! Nyaroku-san! For an extremely funny version of Lovecraftian horror.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojou for some drama and how well it handles a character with autism.
And This ugly yet Beautiful World if you want some Evangelion wibes in your rom.

I would like to add more things to my previous comment
I really don't know how many times i have watched this video like i am way too obsessed with komi san manga and especially tadano cause in my perspective this is the best romance manga and i am saying this after watching around 15 romance anime including toradora and kaguya sama
What really makes me feel so special about this manga is the maturity of the charecters in it for example komi confronting manbagi in vol 17 or both of them giving each other a chance and not stopping each other in order to approach tadano or either its tadano's reaction to manbagi confession he accepted it just to keep her happy but when asked again he cried like hell cause he knows how it feels when we are not capable of returning the same feelings someone has for us and also knows how rejection feels and that's why he approached manbagi again after confessing to komi and even asked her to slap him to get out of the guilt
The another special thing i feel here is giving perspective of love what i mean here is in every other romcom we see that the boy is in love with the girl for obvious reasons like she is very beautiful and stuff like that but what about the perspective of the girl what are the reasons she loves the boy and this is what most of romcom miss on
Where as in komi we are given a perspective for every girl that loved tadano like for komi he is literally the reason behind her character development,as for manbagi when she was confessing her love to tadano he later said that he is not worth of love of the girl he likes but then manbagi states that "you are kind, you always keep others feeling ahead of yours and more importantly you lie to yourself" and man this line really hit hard,then later for kawai san tadano casually giving away a toy to her in childhood really touch her heart
Moreover none of the female protagonist had a reason not to love tadano
Lastly talking about the charecter of tadano he may have been showcased as being average at everything but there is one thing he is perfect at and that is being a good person taking vol 20 when he and manbagi were alone in the room my guy knew how to act in a sensitive situation like this and stayed quite all time even after hearing a confession from manbagi in sleep or in vol 23 when komi was distributing chocolate to everyone except tadano even after expecting a chocolate from her he didn't feel bad for it well this had happened previously but this time manbagi jumped in with her confession
Tadano is the perfect example of how a well raised boy looks like and a perfect example of how a person should behave towards women and other people

I need to mention Don't Blush, Sekima-san. Takadono made a speed run of all Romcoms, by actually asking out Sekima-san in 1 Chapter+14 Pages... They basically start dating at the end of Second Chapter.
Also I like always to mention how much Senpai(Naota) grow in Nagatoro since the very first chapter. From a shy, timid guy he really is Chad-Senpai now.

Honestly fun story, I’m sorta like Tadano in a way… During the my last year of school in 2022-2023 I met a lot of people that had a lot of problems with their life but became socially with them to build friendships. But then this girl came into class and her name was Keith, she was an odd type of girl she lacked the same type of illness Komi does actually. Later when I was getting closer and closer to graduation I started to see she needed help with work and came to talk with her if she needed help and that’s when I found out she had extreme social anxiety. I’ll be real at first it was hard to communicate with her but later within 2 weeks I was able to open up to her, asked her about her day, Hobby’s, she told me she liked to draw and liked Deku from MhA. We later talked about other anime, choices moving forward, I was helping her get out of her comfort zone knowing how much I was in that same boat growing up. Then when it came to the finale months before I graduated she surprisingly gave me something for Christmas.. and i was lost for words I didn’t open till school was over and it was a note and a Blue Bead Necklace. If you wanna know what the Note saids here it is.
“Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for talking to me. I’m sorry I’m so awkward. I don’t really know how to talk to other people so I don’t. I also have social anxiety which pretty much takes away my ability to speak somtimes. I know it seems like I don’t want to talk to you but I do. Men just me uncomfortable. I feel that it’s probably because of what happened to me when I was younger, but I don’t know.”

Honestly Keith if u do see this comment wherever you are I never got the chance to give you my present before I graduated and sadly never got to send you it but I felt like it wasent a good time to send you it but this December I’ll make up for it. You know how much of a chad he's when you realize that during the second year, he became as popular as Komi if not more popular than her, he's always there for others and when you see that everyone that knows him recognize him as a worthy man almost immediately, it shows how much of an impact he had on everyone, even that abomination called Yamai recognize that he's better than most of them, when she talks to Komi after the start of the dating. Not to mention that he now has his whole harem.
That's the best part about our Chad, even when people actually start liking him he doesn't change who he is. He's kind to everyone and always willing to help. The perfect man.
