I love these older Macs I first experienced the G3. In 2004 or 2005. When I was about 3 or 4 years old. The old white MacBooks were something else when they were new. They were blazing fast and fancy same with the G5 and early Intel iMacs.
@@EricTheComputerGuy Imagine. These things must’ve felt like “The Future” as it was portrayed in TV shows and cartoons and such. Heck, to this day can you believe I have never ever touched a Mac at all in my life? I just live in kind of an unwealthy portion of the world so access to a mac is real complicated. Regardless I can quench my curiosity for Macs by watching videos like this one. They’re my favorite. I can tell you enjoy what you’re doing, keep it up. Kind regards, Diego
you are going to have to deal with a setting where u allocate memories to apps, Mac OS 8 - 9 can't really do that by itself, and if any software misbehave, that iMac G3 will crash. It wasn't the best, it was only during late PPC early intel era, where OSX is able to multitask
My primary school had every single colour of the g3 mac. Also i had brought a refurbished macbook pro 2020 i7 512gb storage and 16gb of ram and it's 13" screen. Macbook pro is my first apple laptop that i own
My first experience was in preschool. With the iMac G3’s that was probably 20 years ago now. They weren’t state of the art at that time as the eMacs were common place. Nowadays I use a M2 Mac mini.
The graphics are probably the weakest link to this wonderful computer. The design is near timeless its aesthetic. Made the whole transparent tech thing take off. It’s a shame that there near impossible to find for sale these days for a good price and locally.
These older OSes always seem to freeze at me randomly, such as when moving the mouse around too fast or opening a window... so frustrating... thought it is snappier than the earlier Mac OS Xes.
The old OSes are a tad fussy about how they want to perform. Sometimes i think it’s due to aging hardware inside these old beasts. The older Mac OS is snappier than OS X on the old PPC Mac’s that shipped with Mac OS 8-9
Big fan of old macs like this one, I only wish I were old enough to have experienced these when they were new.

I had this exact same imac. I added 1gb ram, 120gb hdd, but it was still a big dog. The graphics really let this awesome computer down

@@EricTheComputerGuy i sold mine for $120 lol but that was 10 years ago
$120 is on the real cheap side around my neck of the woods.
@@EricTheComputerGuy its appreciated since then. I buffed the acrylic with a car buffer making it like new again.
