  • Indian cities of Bengaluru and Delhi are going through an enormous water crisis. The rising heatwaves and scorching summers are affecting our country's water security. Ensuring water security is imperative for the growth and development of a country and its people. This will require focus on increasing the supply of water, through
    rainwater harvesting and ensuring that the millions of groundwater systems are recharged;
It also means rethinking the way cities draw water from longer and longer distances, which adds to loss of water and higher cost and so unaffordability. It requires stressing on the need to recycle
every drop of wastewater so that we do not destroy our rivers; this in turn means redesigning our sewage systems so that they are affordable and so sustainable.
Watch the full episode to understand the challenges caused by growing water crisis and how we can mitigate the risk.

Correct, water crisis has already started. In Faridabad a small town in NCR, neo rich have a fleet of ACs and private cars, and they get the vehicles washed with running water irrespective of surmounting crisis. We have to purchase drinking water on daily basis. It is looming and most probably, by next year, both water and power crises will cross all limits; however poor would be the sufferers, not the rich!!!

We are in a waste producing era. The more waste we produce the more we pollute our environment and results we face. A new system is required

Report that opened my eyes. Knew something was not covered in media. Thanks DTE. .
I believe antinatalism and childfree is ultimate peace 😊. The rivers and pond we worship are in bad condition by same people.
🎉 I am doing rainwater harvesting at my level, I am trying to be off-grid in mid of urbanization. 😊

Maam , Dr.Jayalalitha had made it compulsory that all houses above 1200sqft plot in cities and towns in tamilnadu have to dig a 5 ft x 5ft x 5ft Recharge pit and all the outlet pipes of terraces in these houses should send the rain water to this recharge pit which has helped recharge tamilnadu cities ground water. All houses those days had wells and not borewells. Delhi people should start digging wells in their houses.she made people dig pits and made it a success with a clause that if recharge pit is not dug and approved by corporation office then cauvery drinking water connection in that house will be disconnected.

An eye opener for every individual and all administrators many of us know and are facing all the issues pointed but very little or say negligible percentage is getting implemented. Important is to start practicing by individuals instead of looking at others or the government to do for us.

We should also relook at the cultivation of water intensive crops like Rice and Sugarcane which are depleting our ground water and also intensifying climate change

Already started to face water crisis here in Kolkata. I have municipal ganga water connection. Still. We will have water from 6:30 am to 2 pm and then from 4:30 pm to 12pm and then whole night no water. I paid 65 lakhs for this flat , yet have to face such problems. This problem didn't exist last year , started this yr in 2024 itself. I pay 2 lakhs in income tax every year , yet have to face such issues. No wonder rich people leave this country. I am too planning to leave for the US or Australia in the next few years, u get taxed like developed countries but get no benefits of developed country.

Lacs of gallons of water flowing from almost every house/ offices from in the form of waste from air conditioners
    Solution:-
Water flowing from AC duct may be collected by owner in tanks or drum which should be in turn collected by water supplydept or local bodies for reuses after suitable purification I. e just like door to door collection of waste by local bodies.
Maybe use for drinking or non drinking purpose

Lacs of Gallons of water of rain flowing on road, ultimately wasted
    Solution:-
There should be a concrete rainwater harvesting policy, Govt should not give licence for construction of house or housing societies or commercial building unless there's a rainwater harvesting plan.
It will provide water to a place where there is no Water supply facilities available I. e. Pub. Health Eng Deptt(PHED), or where there is no connectivity by road, rails etc
It is only rain that water is available bin remote areas lacking infrastructure
Instead of innovating new avenue we have to strengthen exiting system

The problem is not in government
The problem is in people, of they need water they should arrange it,
It's your problem, don't depend on anyone
    But govt should provide options
    And make river water drinkable

99% people blame Govt buy don't blame themselves.
Yes overpopulation is the reason for this.
I forecasted water crisis 20 years back by seeing overpopulation & decided not to have children.
Now me and my wife live happily & we can now survive even in bigger droughts as we are going to spend on water & food rather than useless children .

Mem whatever you are saying is perfectly fine.. but the problem of india is we have a finite land but our population has become infinite we need every thing more than what we are going to balance the development with environment.. we need housing for people we need industry,we need road, we need railway and lots of infrastructure for that we need land... That the real issue for india.. first thing we have to make sure that we balance our population but to doing so we have a threat of economic disability.. ..you know demographic dividend... So things at the end is we are going to face problems whatever we do.. because the sole problem is more population in less land ..

No solution, in the long term. Whosoever will be able to go abroad, will be the ones to survive. That's it. With overpopulation and a mindset that believes that blind nationalism and English language are the solution for all the Indian problems, the disaster will surely come within 20-30 years.
