    If Evie needs a 4x4 vehicle because of the location of your new house, then Jeep should be on your shopping list. If AWD will be enough, Subaru should be on your shopping list. She might like the Outback. I'm sure MIcah already knows what Evie will buy!

    I admire Evie in that she honestly said it wasn't right for her. That is one annoying thing about car review videos- they tend to only feature top of the line models so people don't see what the main stream models have. I hope you're able to find more 'market average' trims for future Evie Drives segments.

    • @cwescapexlt4x4
      @cwescapexlt4x4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Often the supplied vehicle(s) from the manufactures aren't lower/base trims. So they have to work with what's provided. Right @Micah Muzio ?

    I really like this series. As someone who’ll be looking for a new vehicle toward the end of the calendar year, I can relate to the “too much”. When you’re coming from something older, just about everything has great technology in comparison, and the prices for uplevel trims are astronomical. $65k plus for this is ridiculous.

      @billharris7235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also vote for RDX. She would like the interior, plus it's got enough room without being too large. The SHAWD would be of use in the snow, better than the rest of the on demand awd systems. And it's a Honda corp product, so not totally different from the CR-V. Plus a turbo for altitude.

      I purchased my 2015 model Grand Cherokee Limited, brand new, back in, well, 2015! 😆 I'm in Australia & have just clocked up 150,000 kms (approx. 93,000 miles) with a mix of on & off-road driving. I'm a somewhat aggressive driver & not afraid to beat on it, so it certainly hasn't had a pampered life. Other than the satnav/entertainment unit being replaced in the first 6 months of ownership (due to a software issue that they ultimately decided was easier to just replace the whole unit - which was still under warranty, by the way), it hasn't missed a beat in over 5 years. I've been very happy with it - & would definitely get another one. In fact, I am looking forward to replacing it with the next GC, due out later in 2021 (a long overdue refresh, IMO - although I personally don't need the 3rd row they are now offering).

    Had a '96 Grand Cherokee that went 240K, before a girl ran a red light and crunched my front end. The engine still ran absolutely like brand new (straight 6, RWD). Had a 2013 Tiguan for the last 5 years (2.0L turbo 4motion)- fun to drive, but never really bonded. Had to get back into a Grand Cherokee- so about 2 months ago found a 2016 3.6L 4x4 QTrac2 Limited, w/33K miles, Granite crystal metallic, 20" Overland-style 5-spoke upgrade, cream LEATHER interior, nice wood trim, upgraded 8.4" U-Connect w/Navigation and Sirius XM and what-not, single sunroof, towing package w/HD cooling upgrade & load-leveling, 45K original sticker, for 25.5K out the door. Buying 3-4 years old is ALWAYS where the best deals are. Is this new Summit worth 42,500 more? I don't see how. (Unless you can't live without 'brand-new', adaptive cruise control or air suspension)! I absolutely love my latest Grand Cherokee, but for Evie.... thinking maybe an Outback?

    This was my first Micah+Evie video...and it was super fun. Well done!
    Evie, I appreciate your attention to value!
    Micah, I found it interesting that Jeep's nannies didn't intervene. Sounds like they are well-calibrated compared with, say, Subaru's EyeSight which -- at least in my case -- is always chirping at me. (And gets super annoying.)
    Maybe the biggest question of all: Will the 2022 Grand Cherokee actually look like a redesigned car? Or will it simply be another interpretation of what was fresh, new, and bold when it was introduced in the 1990s. (For Jeep's sake, I think it's time for some serious plastic surgery...)

  • @dwilsonjr78

    How about another Honda CR-V? I just bought a new 2020 Honda CR-V EX a few months ago and so far, I love it. For the size, it's pretty roomy inside, has many storage spaces, the 1.5 turbo is actually pretty quick for a small engine, has great gas mileage(I average about 28-29 mpg around town), the CVT is not too intrusive unlike some others(Nissan), and has many safety features standard. The only negative so far is that the infotainment system does feel a little outdated compare to others in the class but it still works fine for my needs. If not the CR-V, I was also thinking possibly Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, the new redesigned 21 Nissan Rouge, or something a little bigger like a Honda Passport, Kia Telluride, or the often overlooked Mazda CX-9.

    What does Evie find cute? I’m wondering if she would like the Subaru Forester or Outback because they’re supposed to have really great visibility. Although, I think the CVT would drive Micah nuts. I also don’t know the time frame for getting this new vehicle. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has mechanical AWD and an awesome new design. There’s also three engine options. I also personally LOVE the look of the Mazda CX-5, but Evie may not care for the infotainment system.

    Good God. Your wife is just like mine. My wife said Lexus was too fancy. Toyota Highlander and Jeep Grand Cherokee too big. So we compromised on a Subaru Outback 3.6. It’s the biggest car she feels comfortable driving and visibility is great. Forester has even better visibility and nice semi panoramic sunroof, but trunk is too small to hold kid gear and groceries. And I can’t stand that raspy engine.
    Only issue was our 2018 was a lemon and our 2019 3.6 replacement is still no match to Honda of Toyota when it comes to quality.

    Any Mazda SUV. There's many different sizes, but all safe and reliable. The CX-5 would probably be your best option. Evie would probably be set with the base engine but the turbo would better suit Micah when he gets to drive. I'd also say the Santa Fe but seeing that they keep their cars for a while, Hyundai would probably not be a good option. An Acura RDX would be a nice upgrade from the CR-V.

    I love the Grand Cherokee, but since a new model will be coming soon, I would hold off and buy a 2022 model.
    To answer the question "What should Evie drive?" I will stick by my earlier suggestions of either a Kia Seltos, Kia Soul, or Hyundai Kona. Those are more the size she needs, and would be easier for her to maneuver in traffic. I don't know if any of them have enough power for Evie to drive confidently in the mountains. And...the price is right! Evie, come on down! ...to your local Kia or Hyundai dealer today 😄

    Ok, may i suggest the Mazda CX-5 Turbo. It undercuts the Grand Cherokee by thousands of dollars, has more than adequate power (unless you get the non-turbo version), better fuel efficiency, smaller size, and it's very stylish. It's definitely not a true off-roader but if it's Evie's vehicle, it will never be used as one but dirt roads would be fine.
    No, i don't own one but to me, the CX-5 Turbo would be a good fit.

    I know I’m probably alone with this one but I suggest the 2021 Ford Explorer Platinum or ST for that price. I absolutely love mine it’s a dream in my opinion. I know some people don’t like that they have recalls but I feel like I rather have a company fix issue and fix every vehicle even if no issues than to never recall and never fix minor issues. (Tesla) My Explorer got a recall on a back up camera because a few people said they had a lag but mine never once had that issue. 🤷‍♂️👍

    Unless you guys are only going to lease any Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/ FIAT vehicle, then, NO, Micah should know as well as any good car reviewer that any new Jeep product is nothing but a Jeep looking exterior with an Italian body architecture and engines for the most part. As they age they're rolling piles of junk

    Well, if Evie gets this particular vehicle, you'll spend so much money on gas (14/22--that's grim!) that you just won't be able to save very much for your daughter's college education -- I am guessing you'll only have enough for her to do 2 1/2 to 3 semesters of community college if you get this vehicle. Just sayin' . . .

    At this price point (and in this class) I think I’d rather get a 4Runner TRD Pro or a Lexus GX460. I know they aren’t the flashiest in terms of infotainment, or particularly pulse-raising choices, but the offroad capability and reliability speak to me.

    Jeep Renegade Trailhawk might be a better option has a little more cute factor, Jeep Compass less cute bit bigger, Ford Bronco Sport (the roof tent and all accessories might make it a good option, Mazda CX-5 AWD, Subaru Outback and Subaru Crosstek

    For reliability, fun to drive, safety, quality and style: 2021 Mazda CX-5 or Lexus RX 350. Both have been produced in current form for enough years to work out any bugs.

    This Grand Cherokee in this Summit trim with the base 3.6L V6 would get better MPG than the 5.7L V8 & it would be less expensive too. Bc this car with the V8 at almost $68,000 is very steep

    Don’t get it, the powertrain and the air suspension will die right after the warranty goes, if not before. If she likes the smaller size, I’d say a Rav-4 Hyrbid with e-AWD. Reliability, ground clearance, better fuel economy on your family runs.

    I owned a 2007 Liberty and a 2012 Liberty.. I had no interest in any Fiat transmissions... nor hand me down parts.. Enjoying my 2020 F150 Supercrew which as more room 100 more horsepower than that odd ball Jeep Truck which is not selling well.

      Sad you’ve been brainwashed by non other than Scotty Kilmer the liar. Let me school you. This trans is A German ZF unit. HONDA uses a 9 speed zf automatic as well. Oh wait... that’s the same transmission as my Chrysler 200.! SMALL WORLD! I bet he didn’t tell you that. Did you know that fiats don’t even make they’re own trans. Guess what 6 speed they use? TOYOTA’s. This is why it PAYS to research before you make yourself look stupid . You Scotty fans are CRAZY! ‘Tis zf 8 speed in this Jeep is used across MULTIPLE brands in the industry. Your ignorance is slowing badly.

    Slightly older (than you) parenting advice: You may not have another kid but you will have other kids/friends invade your life. Your child will make friends and they will all want rides, road-trips & short jaunts.

    Why don't main TH-camrs test base model vehicles? I'm looking for a new SUV but the extensive reviewer only test top of the line or trims that cost nearly double the base models. Most base model reviews are either dealerships or cars borrowed from dealers they're not extensive or are bias. There's a huge difference between the base $34K trim an the $64K premium trim. I image more people are more concerned with the former.
