[ God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur. ]

In the true myth the hammer isn’t choosing who is worthy or not the hammer is just incredibly and I mean incredible heavy which is why in some story’s Thor holds the hammer with gloves because he has to much strength but I can’t really tell what they went with on this story because Odin was able to lift it and throw thrud with it so can’t really tell

He needs the belt to use it properly but he does have the strength to lift it without. The gloves are actually so the electricity off of the hammer won't kill him. If I remember they're called Glipnir which is ironically hilarious that they translate into "gloves of iron" which is a conductor of electricity.

I vaguely remember Freya talking about how Freyr lost ingrid to Odin, saying that a weapon like ingrid can't just be stolen, it must be given willingly. I think this is the same reason Kratos couldn't use mjolnir whenever he grabbed it mid-fight. Thor probably would've given away Mjolnir willingly to Thrud eventually had he survived, and it was probably his will for that to happen anyways post-mortem. Hence why Thrud is able to wield it post-ragnarok.

Anyone can lift the hammer as shown when Thor, his daughter and Odin just randomly pick it up
The only reason why kratos doesn’t wield it is because every time he gets a chance to touch it he’s also fighting against Thor
When Thor throws the hammer not only is he fighting against the hammer and it’s properties (the axe and hammer have special properties that basically allow them to fly and not be stopped as shown when both weapons clash and neither fell to the floor or stopped) but he’s also fighting against the force of Thors throwing strength

I think, when seeing thors death and him reaching for thrud.
You could think of it being the moment he entrusts his hammer to her. Though with it having been previously thrown, it needed to be retrieved to finish the 'transaction', which could be why we find thrud searching for it instead of snapping it back.
Food for thought in any case

I think it's a very serious error in the narrative, with how careful it is, with all the character development of Kratos and the rest of the characters... they simply chose to omit everything related to Thor's hammer, I'm not saying that Kratos He will take it with him as a new weapon, but definitely the leviathan ax is not anywhere near as broken as the hammer is, and they did not give an iota of explanation as to why kratos could not lift it, a guy who was holding back throughout the game because I didn't want to kill anyone, and with enough force to stop Cronos, and yet Odin, who wasn't especially specialized in brute force, and even Thor's daughter lifted the hammer... On one hand I kinda agree with the devs because it is true... Kratos has three main story games (PS2 and PS3) and three backstory games (PSP and PS3) where he pretty much wipes the floor with extremely difficult enemies and then takes their own prized weapons, tools or even abilities in some ways to lay siege and wreck the Olympian pantheon, thus it would have made Kratos "predictable" if he just kept taking the prized weapons and powers of the Norse pantheon but it would further humiliate them because of it.
However at the same time there is a problem with Thor and Mjolnir in that he is a very "arial combat" oriented fighter, thus not only is Thor making these constant long leaps and practically flying and shooting lightning and thunder but also causing a massive wreckage that is not really that different from the type of things Kratos has done to huge and powerful enemies.
having said that, it also feels like a cop out... because the God of War game would have to really be expanded further to actually use Mjolnir the way we see it being depicted by the actual player and that might have made the game exclusive to PS5 simply because the PS4 with a stock HDD (which is what most owners have) just cannot keep up with the access times of the PS5's custom SSD near ROM cartridge performance which would just make God of War Ragnarok way too different from the game we know.

The reason why no one's been able to use Thor's hammer other than himself is not because of the worthy stuff and all, instead because it currently has an owner, which is Thor. Does anyone else think Thor could’ve had more weight to him? no in the physical sense like him being bigger or chubbier, but in the sense that his character in-game would FEEL heavy, that he would have an impact on the environment just by walking around or jumping. For instance, when he flies off after the boss fight and being punched, he says, “be seein ya.” he sorta just floats away with the ground breaking, but the jump itself didn’t feel powerful, heavy, impactful, and I think that, along with a lot of other things cutscene-wise could’ve been executed a little better to immerse players more.

The hammer was used to kill giants, to enact revenge, to dishonor the intent of its smiths and was wielded by a soldier who acted obeyed than chose. Had Kratos taken it, it would mean symbolically going back to his old ways. Forging a weapon from the mistakes of the past, the honor of his people, the bonds of the present and using it to shape the kind of god he would become was more important. Making Thor redefine how he wielded it was a greater victory. The spear is the anti Gungnir, a spear wielded with a soldier's arete, rather than by a trickster's obsession.

Not really. Doesn't fit with the theme of the newer games. Like the Game director points out, the Spear has significance to Kratos. It's no longer a power fantasy like the older games. Its about restrain and mastery. Even the combat is more tactical and focused.

Myolnir is extramly heavy. So while Kratos could eventually figure out just how much of his strength he'd need to use to wield it. it's better for him to have the spear as the axe is Myolnir's equal. Considering it was made to fight the hammer and even at lvl 1 can hold it's own against Myolnir. And Mechanically it would just be a reskinned Axe with lightning instead of ice.
Also the spear is symbolic. His first actual weapon that wasn't stolen or a gift. And the first weapon he used. The Arms of Sparta could be considered his godly weapon but he left them with his brother. However that wouldn't make sense as they where Krato's weapon before he got the Blades of Chaos. And the Drapnir spear uses his blood thus making it his first godly weapon. Designed to look like the spear of the Arms of Sparta.

One thing I thought about is that mechanically it wouldn't be all that different to the axe. The axe was made to work in a very similar manner both in universe and in game development so how would wielding mjolnir be any different to the leviathan axe.
If we're being honest the main reason Kratos took the weapons of his enemies was to change the gameplay by giving players a new fighting style to play with to keep things fresh, so what would be the point of giving him a new weapon when it's functionally identical to the one he's already got.

I have a question if you could answer it. So in the quarry, what happens if Emma gets infected by Max, then Abigail dies by Nick. What will Emma do because she can’t attack Abigail? Also If you keep Abigail alive, can she survive Emma by running to the stairs?
Edit: I have one more question. What if your playing as Kaitlyn in the lodge assault but you don’t investigate or hide with Dylan? Could you try it with Kaitlyn infected or not infected?

    • @ChengTeoh
      @ChengTeoh  ปีที่แล้ว

I'm not sure of the answer to the first question but if I'm remembering correctly if Abi is alive while Emma is infected from a bite in Chpt 4 then if you choose to run - Abigail running down the cellar stairs will always die.
As for what happens in the lodge assault with Katilyn, if no one finds the silver bullet in an earlier chapter then Kaitlyn will automatically hide in the kitchen. Then if Kaitlyn is not infected she'll die if Caleb catches her, but if she's infected he'll pin her to the ground but leave her alone after smelling her.
      Hope that helps.

This isn't Marvel (owned by the evil Disney company), you don't need to be "worthy" to wield Mjolnir, you just need to be strong enough to wield it with only one arm.
But Kratos wouldn't use the weapon that killed so many of his wife's people, it's bad enough he's cursed to forever carry the blades he used to unwittingly kill his first wife and daughter.
