She was offered an M.B.E. But turned it down the reason she gave was that she couldn’t accept anything that made her seem more important than anyone else that comes from her background. She has said a few times that she was incredibly lucky to have the career she has because she isn’t that talented. Of course I totally disagree with that I think she is one of the most multi talented artists to have survived this long and never changed. I personally have worked with her in panto for two months more years ago than I care to admit I was in my early twenties and had a small role. Although as others have said she is very shy and private and has definite boundaries that you don’t cross working with her was like being in a family. Instead of having the star dressing room she insisted on having one that looked out onto the corridor from the stage door so she could say hello to everyone as they arrived. She knew everyone by name and if one of us had a birthday she brought a cake she just has a way of making everyone feel comfortable. I’ve worked with a lot of famous people in my career but she is the only one that I can say is full of class like celebrities used to be and her singing voice is incredible. I love her older songs and how much they still hold up today I don’t think she has ever recorded anything with her stage voice and I wish she would but I can respect her need for a quiet life now she has earned it.

That’s typical media lies she has remained friends with them all she is smart enough to know the difference between money grabbing executives and the real talent which I admire. I was once told by a older actor when I first started be careful who’s fingers you step on when you are on your way up because they will still be there on your way down. I’ve spent the past thirty years living by that and treating even the smallest role in the theatre with equal respect because every person is part of making the show happen.

I remember Tracy's comedy show and it was fabulous! I am sooo tired of the crap on tv - the regular over the air nonsense. Crime shows , followed by hospital drama , legal , and so on . The sitcoms are an insult to intelligent people. So dumbed down.. I'm not a prude or anything but why can't we have better entertainment? I want something nice , something funny or interesting to watch before going to bed . No wonder we are so unhappy.
