Why not rub it with a little water so it looks flawless and flushed to the knob

I'm going to be the art director at a senior site and I think the ladies will be thrilled with this one! Also I have a question ..
I need to make some drawer pulls that look like stars because I painted an old dresser like it has an American flag dropped across it. Now I don't have any star molds but my friend said she had a ice tray that was star shaped will that work and do you have any recipe for diy clay? Thanks
