    Got a few cones when I was in central Italy this spring and now I have about 20 healthy tiny cypresses growing! It's a nice and easy tree to grow.
    Would you mind considering making tutorials on how to grow Lindens (tiglio) and Plane (platanus acerifolia) trees from seed? They are common species in many urban areas and I'd like to include them in my tiny reforestation madness but cannot find good tutorials about them 🙂.

      Thanks buddy! It depends from the season in which you sow them. If in summer proabbly yes, you'll need to water every day almost. The rule is simple, if the dirt is dry you put water, if the water is still humid you don't add water. You need to avoid root rot.

I tried your bag trick, but half didn't germinated and the other half molded 😢 At that time it was about 42°C outside, and 38°C inside 🥵 Maybe to hot to sprout? Now it's early September and around 30°C during the day outside and 26°C inside. Now I soaked some seeds, and try the bag trick again in the fridge.... a trick i saw on an other channel. Very informative vedio. Thank you. This tree is common in my area, but it has two different shapes: the first one is the familiar columnar shape of the Italian cypress. The other one is a pyramidal-stepped form, much more like a siberian fir tree. So would a seedling grown from a seed be identical in it's general shape to the mother or not?

    • @howtogrowfromseed
      @howtogrowfromseed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thank you Mohamed. Generally seeds have a different genetic from the mother tree. However, confinerus trees like the Cypress don't really have marked difference from each generation how it would be for an avocado tree for example. In conclusion, yes, on aesthetic appearence the seed tree would be very similar to its mother tree, but technically it won't. I hope this answer your query.👍

      Hi Ali! It takes three years and half to get to one metre, but please consider that even seeds from the same cones sometime grow at a different pace! I suggest you to grow several at the same time!
      For trimming, it is as simple as you cut it the shape and size you want it! You can start trimming it after the tree is at least 5/6 years old. I trim only the ones that are 10 years old and are at the fence with my neighbours. I hope this helps.

    Too bad I can't get the seeds now. I would like to know if you have ever tried growing them in an air pruner pot. They say things grow much bigger and faster. I can't say, I just got some to try out. Let me know if you can locate some seeds for me, I'm in Canada. Thanks.

    Not saying that grabbing the dried ones it’s better but I grabbed a green one while I was in Italy and ripped it open after a day or so and then grew them. About 85% germinated

      @howtogrowfromseed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, that can happen if the seed has reached its maturation. The point there is that you play with the dice 😀 With a dried one you are "sure" and the probability is much higher 😄

    Can I plant the sprouts in the ground right away or do I have to wait in pots until they grow? And another question: If you wait 10 months in pots, what month is it good to plant small trees in the ground?

    • @howtogrowfromseed
      @howtogrowfromseed  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can, but in the ground the sprouts are subject to fall into snails and slugs bellies. I would wait at least 3 months before to put them in the ground so the leaves are strong enough not to be liked by the snails.

    I have 4 on my balcony and I want to plant a bunch of them to boost a future forest, but I don't know what would be the best way to plant them.. can I just directly plant them from seeds to the ground? I don't know what chances will they have without regular watering

    • @howtogrowfromseed
      @howtogrowfromseed  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would suggest to put them in the ground after they are at least 1 year old. The chance you have for them to grow directly from seed in the ground is the lowest. The best way is to sow them in pots first.

    Increase germination yield by stratifying for 2 weeks at 0C.

      So sorry to hear my friend. That is strange indeed, in what type of soil did you sow them and how often did you water them?

    • @Shapeshifter-d9s
      @Shapeshifter-d9s ปีที่แล้ว

      I water them every time I see the soil dries out and also the type of soil is a natural fertilizer.

      And the sprouts how long should I put them in sunlight?

    • @howtogrowfromseed
      @howtogrowfromseed  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shapeshifter-d9s If there is fertilizer in the soil, that is an issue, for the first 2/3 years the tree doesn't like fertilizer. Also, they like high humidity.

    Please help me 🙏

    Cupressus Semprevirens ('Tuscan'. cypress) is not native to Italy or any of the Western or Southern Mediterranean countries. It is native to West Asia/ Middle East ie. Persia, Syria, Iraq and the Eastern Mediterranean coastline of West Asia/Middle East, ie. Syria, Lebanon and Israel. The species was first identified in a cultural context in Persia, where it was documented in the Zoroastrian religion.
