If you're popping popcorn on a stove and it's flying everywhere, you're not doing it right. Try using a lid. This gizmo is fine if you like it, but I imagine it's a pain to clean (can't put in dishwasher). I suggest getting just a 3 to 4 quart pot with a glass lid. Target sells on for under $30. Also, jumbo pop from pop secret. Good corn. Big kernels. And yes, butter is needed.

I add 3tbls of butter to my oil as well!! So it’s buttered as it’s popping!!

I've found that using corn oil works best for me,Other oils seem to make the popped corn a bit heavy.

Anyone know why they've discontinued this maker? They only have the crappy countertop one and a (gasp) hot air popper.
