Downtime was filmed at UEA in Norwich in my final year at Uni. Lots of us applied to be extras, but only a few were lucky enough - sadly not me, but some of my friends are in it. Saw liz Sladen and the Brig filming a few scenes. Still never watched it, only clips

Didn't HMV have some of these dvds? (Pretty sure the one on Guernsey had some when it was open.)

I've always found Downtime interesting. I do want to watch it at somepoint, even if this isn't the most glowing review of it. It's certainly canon, seeing as it was adapted into a book for the Virgin Missing Adventures line.
I wonder how many memes Taylor'd Tube will get out of this one...?

For a future Review Of Death video could you two discuss the virgin novels + BBC books ranges from the wilderness years. I know Billy did a video (now none existent) about his novel collection and it would interesting if he educated Matt about his favourites, trivia and Matt just being flat out bemused.
It’s an era of the show that I’m fascinated with and has changed my perspective of the show. It’ll be an eye opener for people who just watch the tv series or listen to big finish. It’s uncharted territory for a large majority of fans but it played a major factor in the show’s history that helped it get revived in 2005.
My honest opinion - I consider the Virgin New Adventures to be the perfect continuity for McCoy’s doctor from “Survival” to “The TV Movie”, while I’m still deciding for McGann’s - BBC Eighth Doctor Books or Big Finish???

Great fun... watched recently and wondered if Lis Sladen become available at the eleventh hour and her character was shoehorned in and script rewritten to accommodate her..I have respect for fan films fun

Bought the dvd a few years back, probably helps knowing the context of previous Yeti stories which I feel makes it a more enjoyable experience.
Overall I thought it was a fun little bit of Doctor who spin-off media from the Wilderness Years.

I do still think I'd like to watch this. I feel like I have a good sense of what to expect, I'm not expecting an amazing high-quality thing, but I think seeing the Brig and Sarah Jane would be worth my time alone.

It is. Plus you get Kate, Victoria and yetis. It's like series 7 took a lot of inspiration from Downtime

I love Downtime! I think it’s brilliant! You guys should definitely watch Wartime!

Wartime is decent and I appreciate the fact they tried to give Benton a backstory. But it's one of those you have to mock.

I love Downtime! It's the best direct to dvd release. Especially Kate and the Brigader, that was a great dynamic, sad we won't be able to see the relationship again.
The cast/characters were all likeable and acting. It's clear that this episode influenced the modern stories. As much as it is built on classic references. Solid 8 locus out of 10
Glad that Reeltime (or kochmedia or whatever they're called now) are still making these releases with Sil and Anomaly (eventually) coming to Amazon, it's a shame they didn't urn the budget back.
    All spin offs are canon!

Will you be reviewing 'The White Witch of Devils End', the spin off about Olive Hawthorne from the Daemons? I watch it and... well let's just say I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

I really enjoy Downtime far than the Capaldi era, it maybe be cheap but at least it is trying.

The Capaldi era did have effort put in, but yeah I kind of prefer downtime

I actually really enjoyed this film not as much as I expected too but it was good. I definitely agree Sarah Jane was under-utilised in this story but it does make me wonder what she could really have done in a more active role; however Lis Sladen made no mention of this production in her autobiography. I actually see this as cannon as it gives us a reason as to why the Brig never mentioned his family; in the Power of Three I got the impression Kate had a taste of her father's Adventures and battles. I would recommend Wartime (Sergeant Benton's back story is explored), Dæmos Rising (Which also features Kate Stewart) or even the Mindgames Saga (which is definitely not cannon). Thanks for the video

All that shit, as you put it, kept Doctor Who alive in some form when it was off the air all those years ago. People should be a little more grateful to the work and dedication that the fans had in keeping the series alive because if it wasn't for them Doctor Who most likely would not have seen the light of day again. But maybe you're too young to understand this fact.
