One year ago, I won this car........soooooo blessed! What a game, what a day! Like Drew said "That was a good win", and I owe it to my God for providing a car when we needed it most. If you notice, I'm watching the numbers my husband holds up everytime. One of those times he held up a six and then changed it to an eight, if I had seen the change I would not have won the car. Pretty crazy!
reddrumlife just now seeing this 7 years later lol. Do she still have the car ? Are u guys still together by the way, sorry to ask if u aren't ..just curious whenever contestants win 😊👀
That's the problem in this game, people think you need to get the price exactly right on the first shot. Instead, you want to get as MANY shots as possible. If I were to play this game, I would purposefully choose the "4" for the first number, knowing it would be wrong and hoping I'd get at least one of the remaining 4 numbers right. Then I'd choose the 2 for the first number and get at least one more shot after that - thereby increasing my chances of getting the last number right.
cicholdebannan I just left a similar comment, but in fact, another way of doing it which is just as good actually to say "2" for the first digit on the first guess, but to deliberately try to miss on all the other digits. So really her mistake wasn't simply using the 2 on the first digit on the first guess, it was guessing "22000 something" on her first guess, which are the most likely candidates for both of the first 2 digits, it would have been just as good to guess "28" for the first 2 digits as "42". So the stupid thing she did wasn't simply to guess 2 for the first digit, it was both things combined, 22 for the first 2. That's just a waste.
cicholdebannan, you are mostly correct. You want to get as much guesses as possible. But you never know if you are going to get one of the five correct. Only the first number is obvious. The second number isn't too hard but you'll get a second chance anyway since you'll get the first number correct. You need as much guesses as possible for the fourth and fifth numbers.
Everybody commenting here at minimum understands basic probability and that have to increase your propensity for having more guesses, and increase your odds for winning the car. I don't understand why pretty much every person who plays this game can't figure out this basic strategy.
Gotta say it's pretty awesome that even though at the end, she had one number wrong she automatically won because there was only the one choice left lol.
@@michelemoneywell5474 That was the phone and the plan as well. It came with a 2 GB data service for a year, but don't get me wrong, the Torch was shit, even for a Blackberry.
It might be safer to get the first number right (it's usually very obvious) and botch the second number (which, depending on the options, can also be easy to figure out) with your first guess. For example, I would have started off with $29,xxx.
I would miss the second number on purpose because you know it's not a $40,000 car. I watch this show all the time, and most of the people don't do this kind of strategy. It gives you one extra pick to play with.
If she was SMART, she would have chosen 4 for the first digit on the first guess - deliberately getting it wrong - because she's very likely to get one of the others, likely the second digit, right, on the first guess, and overall, it increases her chances to do this. You don't want to be right about TWO at the same time, you want to be right about just one digit if possible, so you get the maximum number of guesses possible. Then only use the 2 on the second guess, and try to pick things that you think are wrong for the other digits. But maybe she did something similar, at least trying to get wrong answers for every other digit on the first guess, which would be a strategy about as good, and just failing at that.
uh no that's NOT smart, because the first number is the only one you're pretty much guaranteed to get RIGHT. I've seen this played COUNTLESS times where the first number is the only one they got on the first shot.
+MobileTaz There was actually a contestant during season 36 (on one of the very first playings of Cover-up that season) who got every number except the first one correct on the first try, then all she had to do on her second attempt was cover up the first number she chose (3) with the actual first number (1).
I agree: Choose that first number (should be a win if you're not an idiot) and then choose the rest of the numbers that you _think_ are probably not correct - but MIGHT be: You're sure to go on to the next step. After that, it does get statistically more difficult, but as long as you happen upon at least one right one, your odds will increase that you will guess another correct number. JW3HH
Drew tries to help people by telling them about the "get one right, and you get to keep going"; he sometimes says "use strategy", and people STILL don't know what the hell they're doing. She won the car in spite of herself. Humpf.
Everyone talking about how she shouldn't have guessed $1 over but I'm just stunned at how the person before her said $475 when the other person said $500.
Drew could have built that last moment up better, if he actually thought about the 6 being correct. If she only had the 6 correct, then she would be an automatic winner anyway even if the 5 was wrong.
I don't think this has ever happened before on COVER UP.. A contestant winning a car by covering the third and only number at the end of the game. That was amazing!
When the only choice left for the middle number was 1, I wonder why Drew didn't just call it an automatic win right there. Ah, whatever, I won't question that too much since it was still an awesome win.
If you listen carefully, he did, in a very slightly roundabout away. At 5:31 he told Naomi, "Oh. Hey, guess what? Put the 1 right there . . ." Instant win! :))
The correct first move of this game is to get the first number right, but deliberately try to get the other numbers wrong, e.g. 29-something. Then try again to get to second number right and the other numbers wrong, e.g. 22-something. That should give you the best chances to win the game.
It would be tempting to try and do one number at a time, but with the way this game is set up, that strategy isn't as effective because you would have to get the exact right number every timer
Honestly, the best strategy for this game is to pick the first number correctly and all the other number what you don’t think it is. That way you can continue playing and eliminate the most possible numbers.
Here’s what I don’t understand... the audience missed the last three numbers on the first attempt, so why keep looking at the audience? Their guess won’t be any better than yours, so ignore them.
One thing on this game is as he phrases, "as long as you have at least one number right you keep going." If it's obvious of what the first two numbers are going to be choose only one of them and purposely get the other wrong that way you get at least 3 chances instead of 2.
cody bosch Right, it seems like it's that easy until you end up getting both wrong. The only one that was obvious was the first number, because there is no way that car is worth over 40k. You would have to be a car expert that knows every single model vehicle and their average retail price. Then the car expert would know what the first two numbers are. Even after that, he/she would be in the same boat as everyone else just guessing at what the last 3 would be. Additionally, if you've watched other cover up game plays, you would know that there are times when the second number has adjacent numbers, like a 2 and a 3.
I'm not a fan of +$1 either but it's part of the game now, at least in contestants row. Even in the day Bob said it was smart strategy to bid +$1. There aren't a lot of great chances to bid last. If it were a showcase, I'm clocking that a-hole! Of course on a showcase I'm intentionally bidding a little bit low to be safe.
In the showcase if anything you'd be gunning to get within the $250 or less range within your own showcase. Yeah the taxes will suck but it's worth it.
cutemimi25 Oh wait, you didn't know why they change it? Search in Price is Right pranks Drew Carey Cover Up on TH-cam. It's hilarious, watch that video. The original one had like half a million views, now it only has like 500 views, which sucks. Probably because of copyright reason.
That's because Drew disliked the numbers (be kept telling the crew to put blank spaces [they wouldn't listen]); on Day 3 of TPIR's Decades Week (season 44), the symbols represented Pricing Games that were retired in the 1990's: Super Saver, Bump, Gallery Game, Split Decision, and Super Ball. Cover Up debuted in 1993.
Y'all see dude's face when she chose $1 over his? I'm truly curious as to what his face looked like after Drew announced the showcase and then when she won the car. SMH. My heart goes to him.
Back then 450 minutes a month plus 2 GB was $30+$20=$50. $50 x 12 = $600, leaving $740 for the phone. There usually was a $300 subsidy with contract, so out the door the phone cost $440, which is about right as I recall.
The strategy of this game is to not guess all the obvious numbers on the very first try to allow yourself more chances at guessing the last numbers. For example, the car is obviously not 40 thousand dollars, and a small Hyundai Sonata would only make sense to cost $22000. $28000 is way too much, and $40000 is just stupid. So you would start your guess off with either 42000 or 28000. It's obviously wrong, but it will allow you to take an extra guess on the remaining three numbers.
Cliff had the contestant give a guess for the second prize lower than the price of the first prize. 20 30 50 were the ARPs, ergo 20 30 40 would have won, ditto 25 35 45.

But your best odds are if you don't try to hit the home run on round one. @GoodRiddanceGooglePlus I think it is actually. Her husband in her videos looks the same as on the show
The heavens above blessed you on that moment. Also, I remember watching that episode. Holy Toledo!!! :o
Congrats, buddy!
I'll never get tired of Drew being happy for the contestants winning.
I remembered this clip. After Hans took a nasty fall down the cliff on Cliffhangers, he was rushed to the ICU by Naomi the paramedic driver.
It was my wife. She had no clue to anything going on up there. We'd been praying for a car. It was just the best birthday gift ever!
reddrumlife just now seeing this 7 years later lol. Do she still have the car ? Are u guys still together by the way, sorry to ask if u aren't ..just curious whenever contestants win 😊👀
I know this was 7 years ago, but I cheered when the 6 lit up. Good for her.
That was fun to watch.
Also rest in peace the mountain climber from cliffhanger at the start of the clip

The title makes it sound like she got it on 1st try
richard damitz I’ll say that too, since it wasn’t on her 1st try, I don’t get why it called cover up meets it’s match.
It's called clickbait.
2 people actually did that!! The last one was in 1999
I thought so, too.
James Sanders and I see a lot of that shit from this channel.

Now that is the way to win the car in COVER UP. Wow.
its fun to watch the Yodely Guy fall off the cliff.

Ironically back in 2017 i had a dtek50
And well over $1,000 for it to boot!

Sometimes I can't believe the things I watch on TH-cam.
Oh my gosh she got all of that one to win a brand new car on "The Price is Right" and the host Drew Carey that he loved it too!
One of my fave Cover Up wins just because she guessed the 6 right at the end 😂😂
OMG! That was an awesome playing!!
Love those "default" Cover Up wins.
I would miss the first number on purpose, hoping to get one of the other numbers. That way, you would get an extra try.

that's what I was thinking. But you run the risk of missing the other four numbers too.

Yes, you would be quite right, back when Barker hosted!
I really would love to be in the booth where Mike Richards is during moments like these.
