Very relaxing video! I am about to drift off to sleep but wanted to answer one of your questions! The cross in the Slovak cross is alternatingly called the patriarchal cross, the cross of Loraine, or the cross of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Some associate it with the aforementioned saints who brought Christianity to the Slavic peoples during the early middle ages, some with the Hungarian crown and it was also used by the French Resistance during World War II. I’m not sure what it’s origin in the Slovak coat of arms is, though my guess would be its relation to the saints. It is worth noting, however, that Slovakia is not Eastern Orthodox but predominantly Roman Catholic, and has been for many centuries. The traditional “byzantine cross” of orthodoxy actually has three bars: one main one representing the main tool of the crucifixion, one on the top representing the label above Jesus’ head which read “Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum” or “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews”, and one slanted cross on the bottom representing the panel to which Christ’s feet were nailed. It is slanted upwards in the direction of the Penitent Thief, who Christ said would join Him in Heaven on that day.
Now I know that the Sheldon Cooper’s program “Fun with flags” really exists. Sheldon would be so proud of you.
