WENT GROUPER FISHING THIS PAST SUNDAY n had the same problem u had THONNY N I FISH WITH 60/80 something telling me the BIG BOYZ CAME OUT TO PLAY THIS GROUPER SEASON😅😅 GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE
I was out at St Pete pier when you were recording this day but didnt want to bother you. Great to see you and thanks for all your videos. Ive learned so much from all of them
What lb test are you using? I wouldn’t attempt this type of combat fishing anything lighter that 40lb, switch leader to 60lb if they break that. You have to be able to stop the fish from getting into the rocks and if they do get in, you have a chance to finesse them out. You’ll get fewer bites but much better odds when you do hook up. Tight lines 🤙
I give props to anyone landing grouper on the skyway I hate it, and I keep trying too, yet only end up feeding dolphins and losing them in the structure, attempted it yesterday so it will be a while before I get bored enough to attempt again
hey how long were you out there this day, planning to go out soon and wondering how long to plan on staying there. fished there many times and havent caught anything hoping for luck.
You should make a video on how you throw your cast net. I throw mine with part of it on my shoulder but im tired of getting wet everytime I go to throw it again.
As also...awesome video. I always do well with the mangrove snapper at the south pier. But watching you latest grouper videos has me hooked. Just purchased a rod/reel for grouper fishing. Also what's the brand of the sling back pack...looks for functional.
I’ve been loving your videos since back before you bought a boat (and sold it). I’m part of freedom boat club and all of their SW FL locations. Would love to head out in The Bay with you. Let me know!
My wife and I are in the area for work. Was crossing the Skyway yesterday and wondered if Grouper was being caught there. Now I know the answer. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit, and upload these videos. You are a wealth of knowledge to those that fish 🙌👊
🌴 hey bro , well St Pete faired well , just a bit of flooding, but it sure jacked up the water, I guess will see when the fish’n gets better, ( they gotta eat ) October, they made a couple of rule changes on the skyway pier , because of birds getting hooked, only two poles , sabki lines with only three hooks and some other schooling crap ? 👈🏻🤔 at least the grouper are down there the problem is keeping em out of the holes , 🤣👊🏼👍🏼
Right now the water is too hot for inshore grouper. Better off to fish for snapper and mackerel. Skyway grouper fishing produces a lot of shorts, with a keeper once in a while. Been there, done that. But if you use small enough pinfish or grunts or sand perch, you might catch other species. The biggest flounder I ever caught was while fishing live bait for grouper at the South Skyway pier.
Who’s ready for this gag grouper season??
Let’s go!
This guy.
Definitely!!!

Come up and say what’s up next time! Thanks for watching! 👊
HATE fishing the skyway pier. I've caught more groupers on grass flats than on that tackle dump of a pier.
It's hard fishing, especially with the inshore tax man lurking around ruining our trips.
The dolphins are no joke around there!!
I see them alot but still doesn't ruin my fishing to much

You’ll get one soon 💪 keep trying!
was the mack caught by the rest stop?
There should be a Goliath grouper season, they eat a lot of fish, just my personal opinion
I heard they’re plenty of them now but man they’re hard to catch!
You were right skyway grouper fishing not catching
That’s how it goes sometimes! 😂

I usually do that with an 8ft or bigger! But with a 6ft I just sling it
Hello sir dope vid
Thank you! 🙌
What setup are you using?
Shimano Terez 7’8 50-100 paired up with a Shimano saragosa 10k!
Don't jerk your rod so much next time. Best of luck
Thanks for the tip!

White bucktails of any type are killer on the spanish, heck even I can catch 'em !

I caught a huge flounder free lining pinfish for grouper on the north pier! It measured 19 inches. Probably my biggest yet
Tough luck but awesome hook-ups. Thanks . Never fished off skyway but always wanted to give a shot one day . Keep trying it's ur time.
It can be good sometimes!
Have a wonderful day Thonn❤❤
Thank you!! 👊
I wear aftco fingerless gloves when im catching pinfish. it works good bro.
I’ll have to check that out! Thanks
can you still use sabiki rig?
You can’t use sabiki rigs from November 15th to March 15th on the skyway pier! But you can use the rig I was using in the video is just 1 hook
going Gag grouper fishing in like 3 weeks. Excited! Keep up the videos, looking forward to it.
Thank you!! Hope you crush it 💪
Try dead squid under the bridge
Giants?
@@Thonny yeah dude he broke my 70 lb wire leader off
Squid is so much better for me when catching pin fish. It last longer on the hook. Not that you seem to have trouble but for the new people.
That’s true they do last longer!
You even had the worker.guy out there watching lol. That dude is a cool dude
Cool dude for sure!
You should do a video talking about all the new skyway rules
That’s a great idea! 👊
Hey thonny this Curtis it was nice to meet you on the pier hopefully one day we see each other out there again.keep on fishing
Likewise man! 👊 catch em up!
Great video as always. Hope storm didnt hit ya too hard. Hopefully water stays good for some more great fishing soon.
Oh yeah! They’re chewing out there!
I would like to fish there one day. Good stuff! 👍
Thank you!! Definitely check it out! It’s a neat pier
Should do some temu lure reviews theres some crabs on there love to see you use maybe some rods to
Temu doesn’t have the funds!
@@Thonny what you mean ?
Hope you and yours faired well in the hurricane. Man the water is messed up. John’s Pass is wrecked.
I haven’t been to johns pass. I just hope we don’t get red tide
@@ThonnyThat is my biggest fear. How much junk and chemicals have gotten into the bay and gulf. I wonder is piney point flooded again. Ugh.
Great video man!
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thank you!! 🙌
