To me the easiest way to remember which way to wrap to hide the hackle in the Beatty Method is to remember the hackle goes around the thread in a counter clockwise direction towards the point of the hook! Hope that helps!
Wondering if you could show your method of tying duck wings on wet flies. Have kind of mixed results. The near wing being perfect and the far one not so good.
We'll put that in the mix of possible session topics when we start again in the Fall OR if we do any "fun" programs during the summer to keep us entertained should we find a spare moment. Personally, we don't use his method but for a person struggling or just getting started with feather slip wings, Eric Austin demonstrates a method that is very effective. He has his own TH-cam channel or you can see his technique here on our YT channel by searching for the East meets West series.
@@albeatty1404 Hi Al, I didn’t realize this episode was the last for this season. I’d like to thank you and Gretchen for all the wonderful information you’ve passed to us thru your channel. I think I’ve learned more this year as I watched most of them. Tell Gretchen good luck with her gardening. Thank you both again. Till next season.
Many, many thanks for sharing your priceless experience, Gretchen and Al!
Many thanks,folks! 👍🏻
Thanks for these they are very clear concise and helpful to a beginner.
Great tip on the zonker strips. You do get a rather bulky head finishing them off. No more lol. Thanks for sharing.
I like the look of that royal coachman style fly and will tie up a few to try for trout! I think it will be a good fish catcher! Thanks!

It's certainly another way of looking at it. Thanks for the idea!
