Your video makes us realize what a privilege we have living and hunting in Montana. I have hunted the east side for many years and your hunt brought back wonderful memories. And to do it with a great dog like Peg is what it is all about. One thing I noticed about your misses on the pheasants is that they appeared to be on straight away birds. You shot great on angle-off pheasants and huns too. I don't have any advice on that, but it's something to go back and review and think about. Of course, everybody misses those we just know are dead before we pull the trigger. Congratulations on your videos. They are some of the most realistic I've ever seen, especially when they are located in areas that look like those I've hunted many times. I can put myself in your boots. Looking forward to more in the future. My 2024 season has been curtailed, as the farm where we usually hunt was planted in canola and pheasants don't eat canola. Birds were scarce.
Greetings. Thanks for the kind words. It is truly a blessing to be able to spend my days hunting, fishing, hiking and whatever else outdoors with Peggy, family and friends. I never take it for granted!
Thanks John. Can’t believe we are a couple of weeks away from the season opener!!! Hopefully the weather will cool down. Been scouting some areas and so far have seen a lot of birds. We just need some lower temps. It’s been hot!
Greetings Max. Thanks for the kind words. Putting together some footage for our delayed 2024 opener. Sept and early Oct were just too hot here. There were rattlesnakes everywhere! Plus were are building another cabin which has definitely taken away some hunting time. But the weather has finally shifted so look to get out more rather than pound nails😂. Take care.
Absolutely love hunting MT, miss not getting up there as much anymore!! Just such an abundance of species to hunt for a wingshooter. I hear you on those close shots, these chokes are so tight, you have to be spot on. I went to the most open choke I can use for quail, just because they are usually so close.
Greetings Kirk. Good point on the chokes. 90% of the time the birds are in that range that benefits what chokes we r using. Maybe for me, I just need to wait a few seconds! 😆
I really enjoyed this video, and the mark of a good dog owner and upland hunter is one who can laugh at himself. I'm in Seattle but I get over to MT off and on to hunt and fish with my setters. Would love to hook up to hunt huns sometime. Drop me a line next season is you are so inclined.
Hi Cliff. Thanks for the comments. I honestly believe as long as Peggy runs 20 plus miles a day… she is happy! No matter the quality of my shooting. Will drop you a line and you are always welcome.
Greetings Dave! Thanks for reaching out. Peggy is 4 yrs old and my ultimate companion. From bird hunting to hiking the Bob Marshal Wilderness, we r together 365 days a year. She’s a total ham at home and still acts like a puppy, but in the field, she is a machine! Believe it or not, she was a rescue puppy out of Hamilton, MT!! I took a risk getting her, but the videos don’t lie: She is a hunting machine and a great pup around the house. My good friend and hunting buddy told me one day, “She’s a million-in-one.”
Hi John. I’m using a GoPro 11. I like it except when it’s warm out. Because of all the hi def settings it uses, it will over heat and shut down after about 10 mins of recording. Then you have to let it cool down before stating up again. The new cold weather batteries work much better in cold temps compared to the original batteries. It’s not perfect but being able to record in 4K is nice. You just have to be aware of the temps you r in and record accordingly.
Hi Brad. I hunt from Great Falls to Sydney and everywhere in between. There are a gazillion acres to hunt. Do you have OnX Maps on your phone? Believe it or not, I hunt a ton of public land. Block Management is another great resource through fish wildlife and parks. There is a ton of public land out east to hunt. It’s a matter of making the commitment to do the scouting since there is a ton of public land.
enough of the "hun gods" there is only one true God that created the beautiful scenery you are blessed to live amongst and enjoy and He puts the breath in your lungs to chase that wonderful Peg all over His creation. He doesn't share, He will have no other gods before Him, Just sayin' love your vids and Peg other than that.
Love your show have sa great

Love the joy of you being outdoors and Peggy doing what she does best. Enjoy the days as they present themselves.

Thanks 16G! I have to remind myself, even when I forget I have my safety on, that I live in a pretty cool place and all is good!

Great dog you have there.
Thanks Todd! Though today x-country skiing she rolled in a dead deer carcass…oh the stink!!! Never a dull moment!
Awesome content
Thanks again Kevin. It was odd hunting birds for the first time without any snow this season… but we still had a great time!
great stuff
Hi Tony. Thanks. I gave up a lot of money to live here, and don’t regret 1 penny!

Love the videos. Tell us more about Peggy. How old and where did you get her from?
