Wait... There is another one! And it's a dueling coaster! Why haven't we heard of this before! I hope Vekoma builds that new one at Energylandia in Poland!
I won’t lie, they’re improving, but it seems like they only rely on those inversions to call the coaster a thrill ride. After those inversions, it’s just a family coaster with those turns and helices which I don’t think gives either positives or laterals. Not a family coaster like Firechaser Express or a Gravity Group Family coaster, family coaster as in like a Zamperla Gravity coaster or Zierer Tivoli. They’re improving, but they still have a long way to go. If you’ve been on this ride and think that the helices gives either positives or laterals, just let me know.
Rick Jasper I bet there's far less evidence of offhand criticism in your comments about american coasters. It's always the same story: if some country outside america is getting attention for something america doesn't have, americans chime in with the usual self important, sell superior negative comments. It never fails. Indeed it's how I knew you were american: the very recognizable trademark arrogance.
Just to be clear, I'm European, and one of my Top 10 coasters is in China, only two are in the US. As Rick says the location and country of origin of the manufacturer is irrelevant. The ride does indeed take a long time to get started compared to the Vekoma built Gravity Max, I've just compared the POVs. On the bright side it's a picturesque park and the time it takes to get the ride going allows chance to admire the views of the theming around the park. Please don't start insulting one another over a coaster.
Coaster Touring hi friend, it's Nico. I didn't make those comments. I share my computer with some folks, Francis and Ernesto. If I forget to logout they use my account to make comments and, usually, be offensive. I wouldn't do such a thing and I apologize for them. In fact I love the good ol' USA. God bless America, buddy!
ahhh they dont even have em dueling! *edit* upon watching the video till the end I realize there's almost nobody in line and that's probably why they aren't dueling lol. Why even run both sides then?
Mario Brajevich they usually do duel, but due to our filming we had one side to ourselves and they just ran our side when we had the cameras running. The queue line is actually outside of the ride area, Chinese rules mean people can't queue under the ride structure even with catch nets and high fences. So it looks like no one is waiting but actually there were plenty of people in line. It takes around 15 minutes to dispatch a train of passengers, so unfortunately we couldn't delay filming otherwise we'd only got 4 shots in the 1 hour we had the track to ourselves. I did get some off ride duelling shots though. So ordinarily they do duel and the park was one of the busiest I've seen in China.
Coaster Touring 2 trains every 15 minutes? That's horrible efficiency. Shouldn't it be closer to two trains every 5 minutes? Sending a new train as soon as the previous on completes it's loop and arrives at the station?
Robert Szasz they could indeed dispatch trains far quicker, in a western park they certainly could get closer to 5 minute dispatches. A big part of the delay is down to the very strict Chinese safety rules. One such rule prohibits guests from queuing within the ride footprint. This means quests wait well away from the station out by the ride entrance. Once the trains have stopped and guests have disembarked, then the next lot of guests are allowed to walk to the station. They still have cattle grid style queue line within the ride footprint, so it takes several minutes just for guests to arrive at the station. Then the usual faff of stowing loose articles and bags happens. Then it takes a while to put on the racing harness, which has to be inspected, then the overhead can be pulled down and inspected. The ride operators aren't the most efficient either, although not much worse than Magic Mountain. All of this is fairly typical for parks throughout China, so not unique to this ride. I think in 5 years time when big parks have more experience we may see improvements. It's not that the way they operate is wrong, it's just different to what westerners expect.
Coaster Touring thanks for the response. Having the queue outside the ride footprint is a major constraint. Perhaps as safety is shown, one or two trains worth of guests could queue up at the station, still limiting the number of people who could be hurt in a major accident, but not impacting efficiency as much. As China continues to implement global standards for design, construction, and operation hopefully such strict regulations will be shown to be unnecessary.
Christian Moss I think their layouts are improving, but they’re still a little unrefined, especially when you look at the trains. They could be a serious mainstream company in a few years, especially with unique designs.
Weird roller coaster ride or what !!!!! Don't like it where it stops at the top and then tips down. Very scary. How comes we don't hear anyone screaming etc in the video ???? Had the passengers all gone home and only a camera had been strapped to the ride or what ????!!!!!!
KeybladeScar it's a shame China is so far away. At least if you can afford to get there it's pretty cheap when you're there. Public transportation, food and hotels are so cheap by western standards.
Company that built coaster: Hey guys look at this dueling tilt coaster wanna have it. Owner of park: sure Company: ok here you go Owner: cool, but I'm not going to make it duel. Company: put it's meant to duel?
To be fair they normally duel this one, it wasn't at the time of shooting this as they were out of sync as they were running this train just for me. But in general you're right. The duelling wooden coaster in Wuhan is run one side in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Completely misses the point of the high 5 element.
They gave us one side to film with and ran the other side separately. Unfortunately the load time is close to 15 minutes, and trying to get them to sync this train up with the other wasn't possible. If you check out our off ride video, there are some duelling shots. th-cam.com/video/fKA4vIRgSes/w-d-xo.html

smiler983 they do run both sides and try and duel but it depends on how quick each side loads. It duelled most of the time I saw it, but sadly not when the camera was installed. Duelling Dragons pretty much never duels because they run one side in the morning and the other side in the afternoon.

Zamperla absolutely. It's worrying that they have such a a low weight restriction of 80kg, and the need for a racing harness plus over head restraints plus seat belt doesn't fill you with confidence.
HELP ME REACH 1000 SUBSCRIBERS -Itz Yasin- I've not ridden Gravity Max so can't compare the experience myself, but on video this does look the slower of the two.
To be honest for a Chinese knockoff it doesn't look too bad. At least Golden Horse came up with their own design for it instead of directly ripping off Vekoma like they did for their SLCs.
buzlamouche they don't give any explanations. Could be concerns about the restraints not holding or could be concerns about the overall train getting too heavy and valleying. It's hard to say without an definitive answer from the park or Golden Horse.
John Vargas not at all. The track tips up like a seesaw and connects with another section of track before a giant claw releases the train. It's perfectly safe. My GoPro rigged to film that giant claw failed because of how hot it was in the sun.
John Vargas sorry, I meant the GoPro failed and not the claw. As well as the claw there's a bumper at the front so if one fails there is a backup. Once the track is reconnected the bumper drops and after that the claw releases.
It does add some fear and thrill to the ride. Imagine sitting there tilting up with no track in front of you, hoping the train won't come loose. And dropping near vertical off the spike adds a kick to the start of the ride. Admittedly the whole process is a bit slowly and clunky.
Roller Coaster Review I know, amazed so few people have mentioned this coaster exists. I'm currently editing an off ride video of it, so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss when I publish it. Don't think there's been an accident and regulations in China are now pretty strict. So I think it may look dangerous but is actually safe, so scarier than it really is.
Please be advised that nobody over 80 kg. can ride this coaster. These policies are becoming more common in China. I know. I live here. It seems Chinese enthusiasts are trying to get people to come here to LOOK AT COASTERS and become very angry at anyone who speaks up and tells the truth about what goes on here. I am simply trying to save foreigners the trouble of traveling halfway around the world to get turned away from coasters. Know before you go.
Darren Mullins I completely forgot about the weight restrictions, they didn't enforce it on me as they wanted me to shoot a couple of videos. I seem to recall seeing it was 85Kg. Can you confirm if it's 80 or 85 and I'll add it to the main description. Thanks for the reminder. I can confirm that despite being over the weight limit both I and the coaster survived. 😃
The last I heard it was 80kg. I do not hate Chinese enthusiasts or Chinese parks. Many of them seem really nice, but since I know what is going on here with the restrictions, I need to let others know before they make a long journey halfway around the world. The parks here have potential, but these types of rules are becoming more common and I only hope that those who are considering coming here will not get their hopes up about riding. I am happy to support the parks here if they do not have these restrictions.
Darren Mullins I think my "favourite" rule is the no one over the age of 55 on the GCII at Knight Valley. I've always found Chinese enthusiasts friendly and helpful. We often use enthusiasts from the Rollercoaster Dream coaster club as extras when filming. There were a dozen of them with us at Hefei and 50 at Ningbo on this years China film trip.
Wait... There is another one! And it's a dueling coaster! Why haven't we heard of this before! I hope Vekoma builds that new one at Energylandia in Poland!

The line wait must be forever on a busy day
The lines in China are always long on busy days. For a variety of reasons ride operations are very slow by western standards.
2:54 this inversion seems very strange, like a mix between a corkscrew and barrel roll lol
That coaster sure takes a long time to get started. The tilt thing just seems like a waste of time that slows down the action
Rick Jasper it sure does. Not sure how this compares to the one made by Vekoma, but it could be why more haven't been built.

I think the drop on gravity max looks better, but this one has 3 inversions instead of 1, and the section after the tilt drop definitely seems longer.

Estop Motions it is indeed a Golden Horse copy of a Vekoma idea.
the track looks like B&M track on the loops. I'm guessing the box spine is a support structure though.
Gold Striker Enthusiast I hadn't spotted that before. Thinking about it don't the old Schwarzkopf loopers have box spines?
yeah the loop support structures on Schwarzkopf loopers does have a box spine, but it doesn't really resemble B&M track like the ones on this coaster.
"MADE IN CHINA" - Joel Varg
DPWRepublic and actually quite smooth
I agree
Hello!
Are these dueling coasters bith the same track or botg different tracks?
They are different tracks, they have pretty much the same layout but mirrored.
I rode that! It was scary as hell
It sure is scary having no track in front when you start to tip over.
Do they duel or only when there’s large groups like the high five coaster did for us
smiler983 they do run both sides and try and duel but it depends on how quick each side loads. It duelled most of the time I saw it, but sadly not when the camera was installed.
Duelling Dragons pretty much never duels because they run one side in the morning and the other side in the afternoon.
Is this knockoff any good?
Hmmmmmm, it's a fairly smooth ride but........ very very slow and you have to wear multiple harnesses and lap bars, and can't weigh over 75kg.
By the sound of it, I’m guessing it runs on cicada power.
hahaha, they were a bit loud.
Does this ever actually duel? I can't find any footage of it dueling
I'm not convinced. Does it actually add much except a lengthy delay before you get going properly? It seems all novelty and no real thrill benefit.
mjudec I agree about the delay, I think the Vekoma version is quicker. And on some goes this one was also quicker. It does add a thrill factor, especially towards the front where you can see there's no track. I'd say overall it is worth it and it's not just a one go gimmick.

They have similar rules in Korea. I think I saw nobody over 55 there as well.
