    My teenage son is heavily into delta blues, being on a limited budget he opted for this one, when I picked it up the first thing was the weight, this thing could blow away in a good wind, the next thing was the build quality, more than should be expected for the price, the sound, for me it sounded cheap and tinny, when i metioned that to my son, he said that's right pop, it sound just like a cheap pawnshop guitar that you would find in the '40s, hating to admit it he's right, when you start playing delta blues riffs, or slide, the sound is as authentic as it gets.

    $58 usd for those in the USA but we have to add on 30 euros for shipping. Gotta be honest, the tone is a little body sounding but I think it looks amazing for the price and maybe with better strings could be a good campfire/travel guitar that you won't be too upset if something happens to it.

    This is a folkguitar, (not a dreadnought), which would still be fine for me.
    I always have had dreadnoughts but they often sound a bit loud in the high frequencies.
    I'm thinking about a Yamaha FG800M which sounds a bit more balanced tonewise.

      If you had a guitar shop and you decided you wanted to create an "inhouse brand", and went direct to a manufacturer to produce a guitar, and you took care of all the promotion, publicity, importing, distribution, you could save an absolute packet. Most Guitars are just Brand name and Snake Oil, strip all that crap away and all you are left with is just wire and wood.

    • @forkless
      @forkless 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True, and if you invest in a 10-15 euro upgrade for a bone nut, saddle and pins it's more than decent for the price. And if you go really wild also have it set up by a luthier for 30-40 euro and it will not only sound good but will probably feel a lot better playing too.

    1) binding on the neck is a peculiar luxury feature for a beginners guitar,
    2) any Mahogany guitar should have an 'M' in the name, unless you call it 'Elise' or something like that,
    3) beginners often still have imaginary friends, so an imaginary pickguard will feel familiarly welcome,
    4) you might have pointed out the use of a (graphite) pencil in tuning issues,
    5) fret wizzardy on the 20th fret wont get you laid, so don't worry about intonation over there,
    6) nice guitar, nice review, nice video

    64 Euros, wow. Tuning issues for beginners, hmm. Seems as if it tuned w/o issues the beginner would never learn the fine art of tuning a guitar. My 1st guitar (a single p'up, double cut electric ( Victoria brand? ) made in Japan circa 1966 sold new for $20 US. In today's economy that would most likely equate to $200. Now, truth be told it needed a set-up, which when I asa beginner with no one around to inform me of such, knew nothing about. All I knew was it didn't sound like the recordings I was trying hard to emulate. I chalked this up to my lack of experience ( plus the need for a guitar like I saw all my favorite artist play). Make a long story short the Harly Benton looks and sounds much better than my old Victoria, but I did learn all of the tuning intricacies as well as intonation. I disagree with you Henning that a beginner shouldn't have the nut problem that makes your example a bit difficult to tune. These type of difficulties will lead to a better guitarist and filter out all those that eventually will give up learning to play guitar.
