in magic you have two spell speeds (unlike yugiohs weird amalgam with like 15 different speeds): sorcery and instant. sorcery spells (and actions) can be cast/taken on your own turn during your main phases. instant speed can be cast in response to anything (like say a counterspell) or any time you have priority- like when someone moves through steps and phases or in response to another player taking an action. it makes the game much more interesting imo than hearthstone where youre stuck just casting secrets and letting your opponent play around known information
Hearthstone designs it this way so you don't have to wait for your online opponent after every action you take on your turn Imagine when you encounter a roper

Then the blade triggered a second time because of the Objective which triggered the owls deathrattle. Similar thing happens at 14:05 as well but with the revellers.
No. But 8 mana happens to be where the best cards are. With Owl, Rag and Mo'arg for instant damage/armour. Neptulon has potential, but with Reveler there tends to be more board space issues to limit how good he can be. You can also make a Wall with Scrapyard Colossus, but Mo'arg will usually be better since having a ton of armour also stops spells from killing you.
