Eh, I'm not buying the "Jon was so hungover that he missed 4 days of E3" theory. Strong alcoholics don't need that long to get over a hangover, and if he's not a regular drinker then there's no way that he'd have put enough booze away to put himself out of the picture for that long without requiring a stomach pump at the local hospital. I'm going to say the more likely scenario was that he simply didn't give a fuck because he was done with GG at that point.
i think the theory is that he got hungover and couldn't show up day 2, arin got annoyed and they fell out, and then jon was done with gg and didn't show up days 3 and 4
I've always loved Egoraptor and never really cared for lets plays and for some reason I didn't realize he was the same guy on Game Grumps until just now. For some reason i always assumed he was just hired to do some Game Grumps animations or they were fan made animations done by Egoraptor.
Yeah Ross is working on his animation project which apparently eats up all of his time to the degree that he doesn't actually participate actively in the channel much.

While I do prefer Quality over Quantity, I kinda hoped Jon would upload to his channel at least once or twice a month. The fact that it takes him about half a year or more to post anything kinda makes it pointless to keep subscribing to his channel. I don't have anything against him but if it takes this long just to put out a 10-15 minute video, then I think he should either have more people help in the production of his videos or decrease the focus in quality to the point where he can at the very least put out one video a month.
This was one of the worst PR dealings I've ever seen, the fact that it took they years to acknowledge anything and keep fans in the dark is what led to all the crazy conspiracies
I don't think it was bad really, they both went their separate ways and were very successful. Game grumps was buried in dislikes briefly by Jontron fans, but after a couple weeks that dropped off as Dan was excellent. It drove some people crazy, but most of us just assumed there was some falling out stopped stressing about it lol
ValensBellator the point is the subreddit that only exists to discuss their controversy is still active years later, if that doesn't tell you how poorly they handled the situation idk what would. I highly doubt anybody stressed themselves over this in the first place, was simply such a very interesting and real mystery that you could easily spend hours pouring over reddit posts reading into the situation. I think Jon is one of those creators that works best on his own schedule, I mean look at his channel currently. A lot of people are waiting for content from Jon even though he hasn’t posted anything in almost a year at the time of this post. Now imagine if he was obligated with another project, team or channel they’d have a lot issues being that he doesn’t release content on a consistent basis but when he does it’s a hit. Some creators just work like that
Despite Jon throwing money at the screen, the witty and spark has gone downhill since season 2-3. You can clearly see it just by which season most of the memes and jokes that the community use come from. "Oh, there is a pony in my set" - Is that the joke? That there is a pony in the set, it's not the set up for a punchline? Is that the entire joke? Ok Jon.
I haven't seen much of Suzy, but i did see a couple of tabletop games they played in costumes if you know what I mean? And she's having these crazy eyes when she thinks someone is trying to steal her show. I think that, yeah. She's a very likely culprit

He's always been someone who wants to set his own schedule and have complete authority over his works. Some things to consider: - Arin does not drink or do drugs. He has made that very clear in many videos, and has become a running gag between him and Dan. - Jon had a lot of ambition for his channel after the split. This lead to him going very big with his production value, which caused him noticable stress (especially during StarCade). - E3 (and cons in general) sucks for all who attend because there is almost always a virus that spreads to many attendees, staff, and guests. All of this and all that was covered in the video may hold the answers. Personally, I just think they had different ideologies, personalities, life goals, & creative beliefs; E3 was probably just the bottleneck that caused those realizations.
I think the hangover one is the right one. The smallest of things can sometimes light a huge firework that can destroy/fracture your friendship; I know from experience
And if I remember correctly, by that point Arin didn't drink and had probably never gotten drunk in his life. I drink and people who can't control themselves infuriate me. Maybe he had a similar perspective but more severe.

Arin is not a physically toxic person, but mentally he is. It's not hard to go into the rabbit hole to find how much of a horrible person Arin seems to be. One time Oney (an old friend of Arin) said something a little bad about a Grumps video, and Arin bumped up his rent so hard it forced him to quit. Other times Grumps fans made fan compilations of Arin saying "goddammit ross" and shit-talking him, and Arin got so scared that he'd be exposed of being a horrible person that he sent his fans over to attack the creator of the compilation. There's also the current drama going on where he basically backstabbed his old friends and made Sr Pelo out to be a horrible person because he made a funny cartoon about Storytime TH-camrs with some light jokes against them. You can find more and more horrible things Arin does like saying the N-word to a black guy 20 times before dropping him off at his house, and his girlfriend is just as racist, but the look of things he does not seem like a fun person to be around. Don't get his appearance twisted, I'm not claiming to know the guy but with the evidence being out there on the internet, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that his 'physical proportions' doesn't mean he couldn't intimidate you. Toxic people who don't have the body strength usually go for manipulation. Toxic people will always find a way to be toxic.

If I was friends with someone for a few years and then we stopped being friends for one reason or another, I'd clam up super hard if people who knew the two of us kept asking me why we aren't friends anymore. To be fair, two totally random people aren’t what the game grumps are. They were both very well known on he internet when it happened, so fans questioning things that aren’t getting answers should be expected.
This video feels really out of date, and was almost all speculation at the end. :/ To me, the reason seems clear, Jon didn’t want to do game grumps anymore, and had only ever thought of it as a side gig, while Arin was beginning to see it as a future. They probably had a fight about it at/before E3
I can see this. I seem to recall that Arin himself said they started it for fun and to try the recent surge in Let's Play channels. Getting over a million subscribers in under a year really starts to put things into a different perspective of the future of a channel.
Lol just as much speculation, technically speaking. The drinking was well documented, and Arin always did seem the more 'in charge' of the two... The imbalanced partnership theory seems as legitimate as the 'he just wanted to move on' theory, then again Jon himself said it wasn't true that he wanted to just move on from GG as pointed out in the video above, so.......
The reality is likely closer to the video than this response. There's no way they simply didn't agree on the future of the channel, because as has been stated this would have come out. Jon would have said "I wanna focus on my channel more, GameGrumps was fun but I don't want it to be my life, plus I no longer have fun with it" while Arin can say "There isn't a future in animation, it takes too long for little monetary gain. GameGrumps by comparison is the exact opposite and I have fun with this." The reason they were so incredibly cryptic and *weren't talking to each other* (which is a huge point you have to think about) is because something happened in some sort of explosive manner. A fight is reasonable, but not likely. An argument about this or that, Jon gets a bit too drunk, he acts impulsive and says "Fuck it and fuck you" and neither party can explain what really happened because to explain the situation is to kill both of their characters. Jon already killed his character with that ridiculously bad online debate he had, but if he killed Arin's as well by airing out this dirty laundry then I imagine more shit will come out. Or just Arin will hate Jon and Jon doesn't want to be that guy.
This never seemed like much of a mystery to me... Jon is a loose cannon who loves to drink while Arin is about as far from that as a person can get. Frankly, I'm surprised Jon stayed on as long as he did. We may never know the final catalyst, but it was trending towards breakup from the moment they came together lol Ever since the breakup we've seen what Jon likes to do: high quality, huge videos released without any kind of schedule, including going months without releasing any content whatsoever. You can't build a business with a model like that, which was Arin's goal. Dan is a far better fit for the Game Grumps model and I can't imagine Jon would have stuck around long even if everyone had gotten along perfectly.
Getting drunk at E3 might've been it, but the drinking itself would've been fine with Arin. He doesn't drink but considering that he smoked pot with Ross just to try it out I don't think he'd be entirely against that sort of thing. I think the business model shift was exactly it.
and that's exactly it, jon wasn't a fit for that business model but put yourself in his shoes: he's a cofounder, why did they have to do what arin wants all the time? hence the stuff about jon feeling like a lacky. i think arin is probably the type of person to maybe take control, or at least back then he was. a combination of these creative differences and jon wanting to move to nyc and so on probably lead to jon quitting.
Man, this just really makes me miss Ross. I'm super happy he's getting to do his own cool stuff, but it'd be nice to see him making his friends and loved ones suffer again. A man after my own heart he is.

Given that left to his own devices Jon uploads very infrequently, especially compared to Game Grumps pushing for multiple videos per day, isn’t it likely that Jon simply wanted to move on? He’d been doing game grumps for a year, he’d been having second thoughts for months, he wanted to move away, live with his girlfriend and move on. There doesn’t have to be a big conspiracy theory. I’m sure daily uploads is physically and mentally draining, some people are better suited at it than others, as we’ve seen over many examples.

I honestly like things the way they are now more than ever. Arin and Danny have great chemistry and Jon makes the best content on his own, with him able to make non-gaming content to broaden his horizons/viewer base.
Yeah. Them being back togather as friends would be nice though, true they don't have to work togather but just knowing that whatever happen they can forgive and forget would be nice. Arin and Danny will still make videos with their team, and Jon can still work on his own with his own team and make his own videos.

After 3 months I unsubscribed from Oney play, I figured I only liked Julian and ding ding, not Chris. They were the down to earth people who wouldn't complain just for the sake of it like Chris fires with every video game that isn't dumb fun. Just like how he dislikes red dead redemption 2.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who prefers the dynamic between Arin and Dan. Not to say I don't enjoy Jon's content (when he actually uploads) but I've tried watching older episodes of Grumps and honestly I feel like Arin and Jon don't really match well in terms of personality.
Episodes back then were more energetic and a lot more raw. I liked how they got mad at each other a lot in the older ones, it’s just more entertaining. Although I do like when dan and Arin share personal stories and things like that but I really don’t find their comments on the games they play fun to watch at all.
Jon really was sick at that E3. I know this, because Jon was hacking in every video for 30 days after that event. To quote Jon, "I sat down, right in the car, ready to go to Los Angeles, I felt something in my throat, it was A SICK!!"

But keep in mind they've said times before they take monster drinks before game grumps sessions, which means they're on a literal adrenaline rush sometimes, which leads to the crazy moments being, you know, so crazy.
Also remember that Arin just doesn't like to drink himself. He's stated a few times of having tried beer with his brother who is a big craft beer person and just found it tastes bad to him. The way you state it is as if he is opposed to the entire concept of drinking. While I'm sure that this is partially true (as a recovering alcoholic myself it can be quite tiring dealing with drunk people while sober yourself), this doesn't mean that he is opposed to it in general. Clearly Ross, Barry, and Kevin are drinkers with the existence of Stout Train (which is obviously no more with the cancellation of Steam Train). Though owing to his social anxiety he's frequently talked about and the fact of an open bar means lots of ridiculous drunk people this would make sense to me as to why he wasn't at the Anamanaguchi concert. We must also keep in mind that Arin has in fact smoked weed too. Though this like with beer, he found not pleasurable either with his bad experiences with it. Regardless he has made no indication to me that he opposes smoking weed or thinks less of those who do. I would not count the times they mention "Don't do drugs kids" on the show to count as he runs a a legitimate business and that he must say those things regardless of his stance for liability reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if it's also to cover his butt with TH-cam itself with their recently extreme censoring measures they place to allow monetary benefits. Though iirc those were also in reference to what most consider hard drugs like coke and meth.

He may have experimented with weed, given that Danny used to be a hardcore stoner and would know how much to give him if he ever wanted to test it out. He made sure to take all the safety precautions because he had never done it before, much less shown interest in it.
Great video, but a couple of corrections: -GameGrumps has had daily uploads since the day it started (or within the first week, at least) -the GameGrumps didn’t get a studio until after Jon left. They used to record at Arin’s house.
Naked Mongoose what he meant is that in the beginning, Game Grumps uploaded multiple videos a day, which they then stopped doing for awhile during the shakeup.

Don't be, Jon hasn't really been too funny ever since he started filming on his set. I was willing to put aside the shitty person he turned out to be, but his humor just seemed to go straight down the toilet. It's a shame, I still binge his old vids but the new ones are pretty painful to watch.
Jon and Arin were cheating on their girlfriends with each other, their girlfriends found out and forbade them from meeting and talking ever again. They became "just friends" only after Jon broke up with his girlfriend.
You can see how toxic Arin is when you watch some game grumps episodes. So I believe that arin just wasnt treating jon very well. Arin treats Dan this same way but since Dan is the way he is, he just laughs it off and doesnt take arin too seriously (Dan being the real alpha in the situation, and the more mature one obviously). I'm glad jon stood up for himself and left.

While I do prefer Quality over Quantity, I kinda hoped Jon would upload to his channel at least once or twice a month. The fact that it takes him about half a year or more to post anything kinda makes it pointless to keep subscribing to his channel. I don't have anything against him but if it takes this long just to put out a 10-15 minute video, then I think he should either have more people help in the production of his videos or decrease the focus in quality to the point where he can at the very least put out one video a month.

- Arin does not drink or do drugs. He has made that very clear in many videos, and has become a running gag between him and Dan.
- Jon had a lot of ambition for his channel after the split. This lead to him going very big with his production value, which caused him noticable stress (especially during StarCade).
- E3 (and cons in general) sucks for all who attend because there is almost always a virus that spreads to many attendees, staff, and guests.
All of this and all that was covered in the video may hold the answers. Personally, I just think they had different ideologies, personalities, life goals, & creative beliefs; E3 was probably just the bottleneck that caused those realizations.

Arin is not a physically toxic person, but mentally he is. It's not hard to go into the rabbit hole to find how much of a horrible person Arin seems to be. One time Oney (an old friend of Arin) said something a little bad about a Grumps video, and Arin bumped up his rent so hard it forced him to quit. Other times Grumps fans made fan compilations of Arin saying "goddammit ross" and shit-talking him, and Arin got so scared that he'd be exposed of being a horrible person that he sent his fans over to attack the creator of the compilation. There's also the current drama going on where he basically backstabbed his old friends and made Sr Pelo out to be a horrible person because he made a funny cartoon about Storytime TH-camrs with some light jokes against them. You can find more and more horrible things Arin does like saying the N-word to a black guy 20 times before dropping him off at his house, and his girlfriend is just as racist, but the look of things he does not seem like a fun person to be around. Don't get his appearance twisted, I'm not claiming to know the guy but with the evidence being out there on the internet, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that his 'physical proportions' doesn't mean he couldn't intimidate you. This video feels really out of date, and was almost all speculation at the end. :/ To me, the reason seems clear, Jon didn’t want to do game grumps anymore, and had only ever thought of it as a side gig, while Arin was beginning to see it as a future. They probably had a fight about it at/before E3
I can see this. I seem to recall that Arin himself said they started it for fun and to try the recent surge in Let's Play channels. Getting over a million subscribers in under a year really starts to put things into a different perspective of the future of a channel.

Lol just as much speculation, technically speaking. The drinking was well documented, and Arin always did seem the more 'in charge' of the two... The imbalanced partnership theory seems as legitimate as the 'he just wanted to move on' theory, then again Jon himself said it wasn't true that he wanted to just move on from GG as pointed out in the video above, so.......
The reality is likely closer to the video than this response. There's no way they simply didn't agree on the future of the channel, because as has been stated this would have come out. Jon would have said "I wanna focus on my channel more, GameGrumps was fun but I don't want it to be my life, plus I no longer have fun with it" while Arin can say "There isn't a future in animation, it takes too long for little monetary gain. GameGrumps by comparison is the exact opposite and I have fun with this."
The reason they were so incredibly cryptic and *weren't talking to each other* (which is a huge point you have to think about) is because something happened in some sort of explosive manner. A fight is reasonable, but not likely. An argument about this or that, Jon gets a bit too drunk, he acts impulsive and says "Fuck it and fuck you" and neither party can explain what really happened because to explain the situation is to kill both of their characters. Jon already killed his character with that ridiculously bad online debate he had, but if he killed Arin's as well by airing out this dirty laundry then I imagine more shit will come out. Or just Arin will hate Jon and Jon doesn't want to be that guy.
This never seemed like much of a mystery to me... Jon is a loose cannon who loves to drink while Arin is about as far from that as a person can get.
Frankly, I'm surprised Jon stayed on as long as he did. We may never know the final catalyst, but it was trending towards breakup from the moment they came together lol
Ever since the breakup we've seen what Jon likes to do: high quality, huge videos released without any kind of schedule, including going months without releasing any content whatsoever.
You can't build a business with a model like that, which was Arin's goal. Dan is a far better fit for the Game Grumps model and I can't imagine Jon would have stuck around long even if everyone had gotten along perfectly.

Getting drunk at E3 might've been it, but the drinking itself would've been fine with Arin. He doesn't drink but considering that he smoked pot with Ross just to try it out I don't think he'd be entirely against that sort of thing. I think the business model shift was exactly it.

and that's exactly it, jon wasn't a fit for that business model but put yourself in his shoes: he's a cofounder, why did they have to do what arin wants all the time? hence the stuff about jon feeling like a lacky. i think arin is probably the type of person to maybe take control, or at least back then he was. a combination of these creative differences and jon wanting to move to nyc and so on probably lead to jon quitting.
You can clearly see Arin's assholish attitude toward Dan in many episodes, so I doubt Jon is fully on blame here.

I honestly like things the way they are now more than ever. Arin and Danny have great chemistry and Jon makes the best content on his own, with him able to make non-gaming content to broaden his horizons/viewer base.

The fact that Arin doesn't like drinking really brings home that everything he's said, everything he's done, has been whilst completely sober
But keep in mind they've said times before they take monster drinks before game grumps sessions, which means they're on a literal adrenaline rush sometimes, which leads to the crazy moments being, you know, so crazy.
Also remember that Arin just doesn't like to drink himself. He's stated a few times of having tried beer with his brother who is a big craft beer person and just found it tastes bad to him. The way you state it is as if he is opposed to the entire concept of drinking. While I'm sure that this is partially true (as a recovering alcoholic myself it can be quite tiring dealing with drunk people while sober yourself), this doesn't mean that he is opposed to it in general. Clearly Ross, Barry, and Kevin are drinkers with the existence of Stout Train (which is obviously no more with the cancellation of Steam Train). Though owing to his social anxiety he's frequently talked about and the fact of an open bar means lots of ridiculous drunk people this would make sense to me as to why he wasn't at the Anamanaguchi concert.
We must also keep in mind that Arin has in fact smoked weed too. Though this like with beer, he found not pleasurable either with his bad experiences with it. Regardless he has made no indication to me that he opposes smoking weed or thinks less of those who do. I would not count the times they mention "Don't do drugs kids" on the show to count as he runs a a legitimate business and that he must say those things regardless of his stance for liability reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if it's also to cover his butt with TH-cam itself with their recently extreme censoring measures they place to allow monetary benefits. Though iirc those were also in reference to what most consider hard drugs like coke and meth.

-GameGrumps has had daily uploads since the day it started (or within the first week, at least)
-the GameGrumps didn’t get a studio until after Jon left. They used to record at Arin’s house.
Naked Mongoose what he meant is that in the beginning, Game Grumps uploaded multiple videos a day, which they then stopped doing for awhile during the shakeup.

You can see how toxic Arin is when you watch some game grumps episodes. So I believe that arin just wasnt treating jon very well. Arin treats Dan this same way but since Dan is the way he is, he just laughs it off and doesnt take arin too seriously (Dan being the real alpha in the situation, and the more mature one obviously). I'm glad jon stood up for himself and left.
