- Imagine that you have just eaten a wonderfully aromatic kebab in a restaurant and you ask for the bill. The waiter comes and quietly tells you that he wants to pay the bill for you. Imagine strangers knocking on your car window, and each of these people insists on inviting you into their home. Imagine walking through the park and children running up with cups of sweet tea sent to you by their parents. This is what Kurds are like.
It was a demanding journey. Expectation of a retaliatory attack by Iran the day before departure resulted in the cancellation of flights. The confusion over Iraqi visas excluded the four of us from visa-free travel to the USA and who knows where else for years. On site, we saw with our own eyes the effects of a Turkish drone attack on a car of independent journalists driving on the highway.
However, this trip was also a dream come true - we have never delved so deeply into social and historical complexities. Never before have we learned so much about the ruling political parties and the family clans behind them. But the most important thing is that we have never, ever (!) met such open and joyful people on our way. As if this joy was directly proportional to the amount of harm suffered by the Kurds.
Welcome to kurdistan 🤍🏔️
Thank you for your hospitality!

One of the best Videos about Kurdistan I've ever seen
Simple,High Quality, few words but meaningful and describing my country in short
Welcome to Kurdistan again hope you will visit us next time when we will get independence
Biji Kurdistan ❤️☀️💚
We're sure we don't deserve such wonderful words! Nevertheless, thank you so much! When country is beautiful and people are amazing, all you have to do is press the shutter button :)
Great video :D I'm hoping to go for a week with my mum and baby at the end of November.
Thank you! The Kurds love children, so the baby will be happy :)
Also just for information, Erbil’s citadel is the oldest citadel in the world and was settled more than 6000 years ago and is included in the world heritage list
This is right! It's was a pity the citadel was closed for visitors during the time our visit due to ongoing renovations.
Great work guys! Love the shots and the voice over. Best documentary we have seen for a while! Looking to do something similar but in a different location. Was the kids off school or were you home schooling on the go?
Thank you very much! What's the location you're planning to shot? We spent the whole August in Kurdistan, thus kids were having vacations.
Damn gave me chills, well done and you guys are welcome to come back ay anytime🙏
We are glad to hear that! Thanks to all Kurds for the amazing hospitality! Thanks to you we have had the most intriguing and superb trip!
The production, the soundtrack, the storytelling couldn’t have been more on point. I loved every single second of it. Welcome to Kurdistan!

You're going to enjoy the trip! Thanks for the comment. I use Fujifilm XT-4 with three lenses (24mm/f1.4, 11-24mm f3.6 and Tamron 18-300mm) plus drone DJI Mini 3 plus GoPro for water shots. Let me know if you need any tips for your trip!
A more than wonderful video. Valuable information. Professional filming and editing. I hope to see you again soon.
We hope this movie will encourage people from our country to visit Kurdystan! One day we’ll be back!
What are drone rules in iraqi kurdistan?
Well, the official rules are not existing. This means your drone might be either confiscated at the airport or you’d be free to go. You can get official permission if you are a journalist and cross the border with calm.
