Exactly! I have many friends who like to do what they call the Spring deep clean. Why not? I think it is quite mandatory in every house, at the very least once a year.

This brings back happy memories. I worked for a kosher bakery for 13 years, cleaning for Passover was exhausting but I enjoyed the tradition and symbolism. Thank you for your videos.
I found this video very interesting. I grew up in a Southern Baptist home. Before Easter and Christmas my mother always cleaned everything in the kitchen with boiling water. The counters, dishes, pots, silverware and refrigerator. It was a tradition passed down from many generations. I never thought to ask why and now my mother and grandmother have passed on. I do not use boiling water but do a very thorough cleaning before the holidays. Thank you for sharing.
How interesting! I am also a Christian, and, at 73, have never heard of cleaning with boiling water before Christmas or Easter. Cleaning so thoroughly, regardless of the method, before a sacred holiday is a point of agreement and understanding each other, isn't it?

Celiac disease is another issue all together. You are REMARKABLE. It is now Dec 2021 so I am wishing you and your family a blessed Hanukkah season. L
Gosh such a lot of work but now your kitchen is gleaming! Please have a rest if you get the chance. I really enjoy your videos. You're always so cheerful.
This brings back so many memories. We had two kitchens in our house growing up, it was a process. So many things to be stored and donated. We always started about a month out eating out our pantry/freezers so nothing would be left the week before passover. Even our emergency supplies got rotated. Our deep clean for Rosh Hashanah was also a serious under taking. My Grandmother would even pull us from school to get it done if we were hosting that year. Not a single thing in the house wasn't cleaned it felt like. I always got the walls and ceiling since I didn't mind climbing the ladder.
It is so interesting as a Christian raised person, the amount of things that we do that are so similar to your practices we just call them something else or practice for a different reason. After all Christians come from Jews. Really love your content and happy spirit!!! May God bless you and your family always ❤️
A few months later... I have a very similar fridge. The wide drawer does come out, but you have to pull it all the way then lift it a bit. And it's hard to get back in. You can get both large glass pieces out, just not the plastic frames. Nice to see I'm doing the Passover cleaning correctly. Everyone else (I'm Reform) thinks I'm crazy.
Love everything about this video but the Topo Chico box warmed my heart so much. My husband is from Texas and he introduced me to it, now me and our kids are obsessed with the water. I have to tell the kiddos that we can't just drink it all day everyday but boy I wish we could! 😂

Love your chanel, it is great to see how you show that our jewish laws are all not jus because so, but have allot of purposes! Your rapping off the foil so to speek. I knew that cleaning for Passover was very involved, but I would love to know what Passover means and why everything has to be cleaned. Love your videos!
My husband is Jewish and I am Irish Catholic. But both our grandmothers liked each of us and they ran the family so our marriage was allowed. My husband's grandmother is the only family member to survive the camps. I love that both my catholic granny and my husband's Jewish granny were the same type of women. They got on so well until they both passed. But Grandma Bennett did like to keep kosher. And she came to live with us in London. Weirdly us Irish folks like to have two ovens and two sinks. We used to follow the same rules on bottom feeders and seafood too, using those only for bait for proper fish. I called Grandma Bennett GB and our son calls her GB too as do all the great grandkids. I'm sad that my son doesn't have the option of his Jewish heritage but hopefully things will change over time. But he has always felt part of the jewish community in London. We have a cottage which is off the grid in Ireland. Now I gone there a week earlier, as GB was coming to stay for the first time. And she's old now and I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. As she has treated me as well as a daughter. We sometimes would rent it out. That has now stopped. As we arrived late in the dark. Which is not good when the place only has solar panels for some electric light. You have to get the huge multi burner going, as it heats the water on the back boiler. Everywhere was mouse poop!!!!! So kashering the cottage happened from 2am to 6am as I was boiling and bleaching everything. Then foil goes on the shelves just in case I've not gotten them clean enough. giant pot and all the flatware/silverware being boiled, all the smaller pots plates, everything. Then everything went into airtight giant tupperware boxes I'd brought with kosher food supplies. GB arrived, and I was so proud of how my son helped clean and kaher everything as well. She loved Ireland. Also the cottage is on a very old pilgrimage route from the 300sAD. I have a big bucket of cold water with bottled water and normally my son would stand or sit next to them and sell them to pilgrims and those just hiking the trail. GB decided to do and was just chatting to everyone, several were brought up for tea and cake! GB has been to visit our new house in Northern Ireland. She went out for a walk and our next door neighbour met her. Now our next door neighbour is the same woman who lived there my whole life. Knew my granny. Granny was respected a a fair woman and a woman of conviction by the people around her. So within 3 minutes of telling our neighbour that she was jewish, now within about a minute or so she asked my husband if he was catholic or Protestant. He says well I'm Jewish. She goes OMG I can't believe your mother let you marry a Jew. Like Protestant would have been worse though. Jewish was easier for her to get her head round. But also both of the Grannies agreed to the marriage so any naysayers were told to shut up. So we had the wedding in gothic Roman Catholic Church with a blessing from the Rabbi and then sneaking in some Jewish stuff that my parents didn't notice. GB gave me Kallah, Dinner for Two, with a note saying, I will teach you how to cook proper sephardi for all the holidays. And I'm up for eating and drinking. She still cooks the Challa for Shabbat but she's shown me how now too. Can't get it anywhere near as good. She goes, ah give it 50 years, you'll be fine! She is much younger than my grandma, who would be 113 if still alive. GB is 93 now, was born 1930. She lives downstairs. We have a bedroom, living room and bathroom which she has to herself. And we all share a kitchen. She is living with us full time now, which is just lovely. And my extended family is large so if other family want to visit from England or Israel we can still host everyone. We did Passover in Northern Ireland this year. The family staying with my family don't eat at their houses, so from 8am until midnight everyone is in our house. But it was fantastic. And all the female cousins want to take over to help me. I'm always grateful. It's also meant that my in laws are all going to come visit again. GB was explaining passover to our neighbour. I just remember them laughing and cackling together at our wedding and just getting on so well. I hate fish but I love north African style food. But here we can hire a shochet who will go to the farm and slaughter and butcher a whole animal for us. Farmers don't mind as they get paid and this farmer does his own slaughtering and butchering on site. And as soon as you say, oh it's for my husband's granny. You know she survived the nazi death camps. They never say no! Sadly not many Jewish people where I come from but there is a Shul within 20 miles and the Rabbi there has come for dinner at our house a couple of times and we have been to his home for Shabbat, men going to prayer and us ladies cooking. It's old fashioned but also nice being with the women too. (I think they want me to convert, just like my mother secretly wants my husband to convert) They wanted men and women separate for the wedding reception, it was agreed for after the meal. And all of my family really enjoyed it, as the older ladies said this is kinda what used to happen at weddings when they were young, the men and women would naturally divide. And also just lots of kiddos too. As having all ages at a wedding is important from toddler to grandma. As children bring such joy to these occasions.
You make everything seem so effortless. I didn't realize there was a difference in Sephardic and Ashkenazi when koshering. I've read how expensive it can be to get a Rabbi to come kosher everything. It's nice to know you can do it yourself.
There are major differences between Sephardi and Azkenaz Jews for Passover, which can make it hard living in a predominantly Ashkenaz area. But we try to spend Passover with family so that is everything :) And You can definitely kasher your own kitchen! Its super helpful to have a rabbi come out the first time to help and make sure you understand it all, but its definitely doable on your own :) In our area, the rabbis who help with that work only on donations. I'm sure it varies by community :)
I realize I masher my kitchen daily😂. One thing that might help…work top down, tile first so if any crumbs drop down you can then get the crumbs off counter.
I used to work with a Jewish family but they were barely even reform if I had to guess, the grandparents were more conservative and kept a Kosher kitchen. My patient stayed there during Passover one year and I knew the kitchen was kosher so I brought everything I would need to eat my dinner without having to use their forks etc. So I heated up my not kosher chicken in the microwave and almost broke passover. They had 2 microwaves out and I knew it might be meat vs dairy and made an educated guess about which one was meat and made sure my lid was covering the food... well I found out in the morning that it was actually their regular vs clean for Passover microwave! They had duplicates of some items that they’d bring out for Passover instead of trying to kasher those items. On the upside, I picked the regular one and none of my chicken made contact with any surface of the microwave so not too much damage done!
I feel like this video doesn’t convey how exhausting this whole process can be 😂 The job is done now though and that’s so satisfying. Excited for family to arrive later today!

@@GoldenGarden9 you are so welcome 🤗
What a lot of work!! How dedicated you are to your faith...I found it most interesting.
So glad you enjoyed:)
so good at explaining
Why have I never thought to lay my fridge shelf’s out on a bath towel to dry? Genius! I’m always trying to stack them up around my sink 😆
Life changing right?!?
I use bath towels often enough in the kitchen when cleaning. Just makes it easier for me. It is great to get new ideas for our everyday life that will be helpful.
Girl!!! Please come help me clean my kitchen!!! I'm super clean and picky... OCD about cleanliness to be truthful... However... After watching what you did in this video I'm thinking that there is alot more I could/should be doing! Unfortunately, right now I can't use my left arm... Severe arthritis flare up in my wrist... But I guarantee that whenever this clears up... I'll be drafting my daughter to help me REALLY clean my house!!! I luve watching your videos... I was raised Catholic...12 years of Catholic schools... As an adult I'm not attending mass... But I do consider myself a Christian. Your videos are so informative and relaxing to watch. Thanks for sharing with the world . I live in extreme S.W. Missouri.
I only clean like this once a year 😊💜 so glad you enjoyed!
I've just come across your blog and am really enjoying learning about your religion. I had no idea what it takes to be Kosher. Also, you take care of a type one diabetic child. I retired 2 years ago after 53 years as a RN. The changes in the treatment of diabetes is mind-blowing. Your son has a much better chance living a normal life span now. Celiac disease is another issue all together. You are REMARKABLE. It is now Dec 2021 so I am wishing you and your family a blessed Hanukkah season.

Thank you Carole for your kind words :) And welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!
Feel like I have learned so much.
This is very interesting. It’s a lot of effort but I can tell it’s worth it with the joy you show in the videos.
Thank you!
Love your video, excellent job. That kitchen is spotless!
Thanks so much! 😊
Gosh such a lot of work but now your kitchen is gleaming! Please have a rest if you get the chance. I really enjoy your videos. You're always so cheerful.
Oil de-greases that sticky oil. Just let it soak in. Then cleans off quickly.
Bicarbonate of soda and vinegar is excellent for cleaning.
Thank you for the tips!
You are amazing and thank you for explaining the preparation for Passover.💖
Thank you for your kind words 💜
I would clean refrigerator first and leave countertop and sink last! Love your show
My same thought! 😊
Oh wow! Twice a year? That’s intense!
@@jaroffireflies yup, everything. Closets, the basement and attic were so much fun lol. New Year and all
You are a rockstar mom!
Thank you!!! 😊😊😊
I love that you go barefoot around the house. I always have. And of course I have broken toes that way.
Oh my that sounds painful
Thanks for a glimpse of koshering your kitchen
You are so welcome!
Wow! The dedication and teamwork from you and your family is inspiring! Thank you for sharing and teaching!🙏🏽
Our pleasure! Thank you so much for watching!
It is so interesting as a Christian raised person, the amount of things that we do that are so similar to your practices we just call them something else or practice for a different reason. After all Christians come from Jews. Really love your content and happy spirit!!! May God bless you and your family always ❤️
Thank you!
I think yearly kashering would be a great idea for all folks, not just jewish folks. Must feel so good for everything to be so clean!
Like spring cleaning :)
I love learning about other religions and cultures. I am amazed at all you do to get ready for one holiday. This was awesome.
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed this :)
The learning experience is fun in your video
Good morning lovely! What a great morning, a cup of coffee watching your video!
Aw thank you so much! I’ll “join” you with my cup of tea ☕️😊

Thank you :) The biggest problem I have is that because of the wall, I think the door doesn’t open wide enough to get the drawer out
Love everything about this video but the Topo Chico box warmed my heart so much. My husband is from Texas and he introduced me to it, now me and our kids are obsessed with the water. I have to tell the kiddos that we can't just drink it all day everyday but boy I wish we could! 😂
oh, I am enjoying this video so much! I'm not Jewish, but love the Jewish ways of doing things, the koshering, etc. I am going to use your way of cleaning in my kitchen as well! Thank you so much for sharing so many parts of your life! Love, Jeanei xxoo
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words! I really appreciate you!

I am a different background but one thing we all have in common is cleaning for holidays. I use to send my husband for oven cleaner. We have more in common especially being mothers. I love using boiling water for cleaning.
I love going into any holiday with a clean house :)
Wow you are the hardest working woman I know!!!
Thank you 😊
Love your chanel, it is great to see how you show that our jewish laws are all not jus because so, but have allot of purposes! Your rapping off the foil so to speek. And one thing, that I had thought just this year, I had putet all of the fridge and refrigerator shelfs and baskets to a warm soapu bath tub! - great results evriting comes off super easy, almost any skrubbing involved!)))

I finally got an Electric kettle, it has made such a difference. I wonder where have you been my whole life. I love that thing.
The electric kettle is amazing!!! We love ours for Pesach prep :)
My grandmother was Jewish, I chose a different lifestyle but still maintain the cleanly and prepping.

I love a clean kitchen but what you do to get ready for Passover is a huge undertaking! Wow it’s amazing!
Luckily it's only once a year, both for the fact that we only have to do it once and that we actually do it once lol
Such hard work - I wish I had someone to help do this!! Lovely presentation, Thank you!

this got reccomended to my feed randomly, and I loved the vid! Just wanted to say you have really pretty eyes!

The wet vac idea is genius. I have a carpet cleaner that has that attachment. And yes, I have a kettle. Helps so much! Thank you!
Perfect!!! ❤️

(I think they want me to convert, just like my mother secretly wants my husband to convert)
They wanted men and women separate for the wedding reception, it was agreed for after the meal. And all of my family really enjoyed it, as the older ladies said this is kinda what used to happen at weddings when they were young, the men and women would naturally divide. And also just lots of kiddos too. As having all ages at a wedding is important from toddler to grandma. As children bring such joy to these occasions.
I really , really want the dress you have on in this video. I’m obsessed, love it! 🤩
I just heard the other day from someone that it’s no longer available:(

@@user-bw3fl7fj9w Its my sister in law and her husband and kids. My parents etc do not come.
THANK YOU for sharing
You are so welcome!
This brings back memories to high school where we had to do this after I accidentally broke Kosher at a friend's house my Junior year.
I realize I masher my kitchen daily😂. One thing that might help…work top down, tile first so if any crumbs drop down you can then get the crumbs off counter.
Goodness, what a lot of work. You do everything so effortlessly. Happy Passover and Good Shabbos. Have a great holiday with your family.
Thank you for your kind words!!! 😊😊😊💜💜💜
What a fun story! Thank you for sharing :)
