Just listen to these guys!! Live performance; it sounds like the studio recording. This is when good bands actually could play their instruments and sing. I love this band!!!
Fuck appearance! That's what MTV has given us. 90% attitude & marketing, 10% talent...when lucky. Their evil empire goons dictating corporate cool while hard working great rock & roll bands like this are kept under the radar. Love live rock, long live real artists regardless of genre! Thanks for posting man, cool to see they still have it. Peace
Still incredible musicians. You dudes blow rock into a whole new arena. Love ballads you have to continue to hear to understand. Music is so simple it works every time. This is the rock of blues here! The Smithereens. Blessed bunch of guys!
All these guys are great! They are superb with their fans after their shows too! Pat needs to do something. They sound as good as ever. Pat not only drinks like a fish between songs but he also has a ciggy lit and on his guitar most of the time too. He has excellent breath control to put out the lyrics even with his heavy smoking. Long Live The Smithereens!
As you age, you may get medical conditions that require all kinds of meds. Plus you live your life to please yourself. The music rocks no matter what they look like.
they deserve a lot more recognition the music offers something anyone can like the songs are well crafted a year ago i did'nt even know who the smithereens were and now they are my new favorites among others
You guys rock. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Loved the band since high school and got to see them at my college, H-SC in either '91 or '92. Got a guitar pick!!!!
Use to play this tune when jaming in my 20's... Hey, how this rock, cool tune for jam with amp knobs at 11!!! Thanks for the post! Reminds me so much!!! And by the way, don't care for the look, just listen! This tune is a classic pop rock!!! I still can hear it at local rock radio station where i live, and let me tell you that the volume get as high as possible!!!
@@googleusergp I liked some of his early stuff. I grew up in New Jersey. Yeah, when he started with his anti America/Orange Man bad crap, he lost me for good.
@@richardsylvanus2717 I get you want to be involved, but for years he was just an "Average Joe", then he turned into a real elitist. That turned me off. The Smithereens always just stayed "regular guys".
I challenge ANYONE to the claim that they can keep the exact same appearance for more than 25 years. Things happen to all of us. It's easier to judge people when you are young I guess. Lets see how you 'haters' turn out 25 years from now. I'm just glad that they are still performing, still doing what they love to do and sharing it with us. ROCK ON.
Pat's voice is really straining in this video. Have always loved these guys. Soooo underrated. My fave gotta be Wall of Sleep or Only a Memory. Rock on boyz!
saw them at Center Stage in ATL late 80's. They blew the lid off the place. We went to the midnight show and my girlfriend was so wasted by that time, she was passed out after 2 songs.
@Beatles0223 For sure man...I am proud to say that I hold those values myself and my whole cd "I wrote every song". I hope I am starting to see a trend going back to those days a little more as the music business is turning to the internet and more an more Indie bands are breaking through!
This is a clip from Wikipedia. Don't be so quick to judge. In 2006, he was the focus of 7th Inning Stretch, an ESPN2 reality special. The special focused on DiNizio's recovery from a "life-threatening and debilitating nervous disorder" by training and attempting to try out for a Minor League Baseball team (The Somerset Patriots), along with tales of baseball folklore from other musicians such as Joan Jett, Gene Simmons, and Bruce Springsteen. [5]
The kings of power pop are still getting it done . Akron Ohio look out ! November 2110 Redfishradical , Your so right ! What passes for talent these days is a joke. Long live Rock !
No doubt they are eerily similar. Both records (Smithereen's "11" and Guadalcanal's "Flip Flop") were released in 1989. I don't know which record was released first, but it's not like one had been released for a long time before the other.

one of the best albums of all time. pure edgy bare bones rock
Great band that can really replicate the studio sound on stage.
Great tune. Love this live version. Go Smithereens!
Don't worry about they way they look....plenty of skinny girly looking pretty Indie bands can't pack a house like they do
This is possibly the best live performance by a classic band! keep the dream alive guys :)
That voice I will miss foreverThis sound I never forget
This song is a classic with a classic guitar riff. Straight up rock and roll!
RIP Pat DiNizio
When I was in my 20's, these guys put out the soundtrack of my life. I thank you and wish I had seen more of your shows instead of just 2.
how old are you now?
The soundtrack of your life? I hear you there. I couldn't have put it better.
this song totally kicks ass!!
rock till the end, thank you for EVERYTHING PAT! RIP..Godspeed..pain is over
Good music has always been timeless!!!!

Still sounds slick 20+ years later. Luckily I caught them once live in '94 - wish I'd seen them more.
Pat suffered from a neurological disorder in the late 90's, he was put on a medication that cause heavy mood swings, and makes you gain weight.
One of the greatest rock songs of all time, by one of the greatest bands...ever. God bless ya' guys.
Saw these fellas in Vegas, and they rocked! Love these guys !
Some of the best ....especially to song along with. Rock In Peace
RIP Pat rock the heavens!

One of the most underrated bands ever, and whatever age they may be, still ROCK!!!
What a great show! I wish I had seen them when they were in LA in the late 80's, early 90s. This music brings back so many memories!
As you age, you may get medical conditions that require all kinds of meds. Plus you live your life to please yourself. The music rocks no matter what they look like.

don't care what anyone says, I love this version!!!!
Going to see them tonite at BB Kings in NYC!! Can't wait!! Great band!
These guys totally rocked. Why aren't they in the HoF? RIP Pat.
Who cares. HoF is bullshit. Why does rock need a fucking museum?
Because they are true to their fans and music and the HOF is all about the dog and pony show.
One of my all time favorite bands, circa 1990. The days go by invisibly much faster than I used to think the things...I think about...
Well there's things that happen in your life you can't change, but the Smithereens are still rocken. Miss them. Will want to see them again. Hell Ya!!
What a great concert... They still have it..... Like the rest.. I hope that Pat gets his health in order.. Want to see them around for a long time..

This is exactly how I visualized it before I saw it, jammin in a small bar, doing great! Fantastic!
it is sad that this was the only big hit the band had they have so many great songs.one of the greatest rock and roll songwriters of any era period !
This was an inspired gig! Wish I had been there!!!!🎸👺🎤

GREAT JOB! FOR A LIVE VERSION!!!
LOL, love the extended outro on that one.
Damn good rendition!
My go to band when I need a jolt of inspiration.
Awesome! Expected to see/hear Rickenbackers rather than Telecasters or whatever. Sounds great.
The band was the soundtrack of my 80's
he rocked it !
America's best Beatles.
Still just as good as they were back in the day \m/
Ok. Just effing good then :-) The riff really is as good as Smoke and Perfect strangers, and that's pretty amazing!
Still sounds good !! Pat still has the voice !!
If this is any indication, the DVD is going to be totally awesome!
that was great!
