Definitely the mall I remember most of the three I frequented (Cary Towne, Triangle Town, and Crabtree). Especially browsing the GameStop for the new 360 games then walking over to McDonald’s.
Right on, I remember the days of the late night launch parties. Sad to see Cary Town Center close; that was my childhood mall for sure. Glad to see Crabtree and Triangle still going strong it seems. Trying to capture as much as I can since I neglected Cary Town Center when it was closing. Thanks for the comment and hope you have a beautiful weekend!
I’m genuinely crushed I didn’t check out Cary Towne one last time before it was gone. To tell you the truth I didn’t find out it closed until well after it was demolished. I thought it was still standing, I remember seeing the gigantic outline of the circular mall entrance between Belk and JCPenney in 2021 driving by on Cary Towne Boulevard and saying to my mom “oh wow, I gotta check that place out!” I went to the fenced in property a couple times to get photos of what’s left upon learning what happened, not much left really. Only the old Belk anchor structure. A collection of lamps, cracked and splitting parking lot, and my favorite remnant is the mall’s old sign along Cary Towne Boulevard which still stands in the bushes. What’s crazy is, there’s literally a grass field in the shape of the mall’s profile if you look at it from above. The parking lot borders nothing. It’s insane. I got kicked off the property by a security guard the second time I went. I was caught on one of the security cameras which lines both the parking lot around and on top of the former Belk. The guy was chill about it when he drove up, said something like “just so you know, Epic Games owns the property and doesn’t want pictures or video” so I left. But I’ll probably be back to photograph a little bit more at some point. What a mistake Cary made demolishing that mall. Nearby Triangle Town Center has arguably been saved from death with small businesses. Filling a niche for some who don’t want the hustle-and-bustle of Crabtree. Triangle Town is my all-time favorite mall currently. Such a neat place, security hasn’t bothered me once for carrying my camera around inside the place.
@@garbagebanditdayz819 I actually was totally oblivious as well and didn't find out until after.. That mall sign is still there?! I shall have to go have a look. Do you have a flickr or imgur or somewhere you post pictures? I've seen some drone footy from some guy on youtube which is great! I'll go grab some pictures and see if I can avoid the security. Yea that really was a beautiful mall. Triangle is doing very well it seems! Very modern designs for sure a neat place. I was not bothered in there as well. Good to hear. Hope to see some vids/pics from ya soon! Thanks for the comment and have a great week!
@@Hypermarketed yep the sign is still sitting there in the bushes right off Cary Towne Boulevard. It looks great too, it was there as-of this past Saturday when me and my mom (she operates the camera car 🤣) drove in from Cary Towne Boulevard. Planning to go back so she can drop me off and I can stumble up the hill to photograph the sign up close. I don’t think security really cares about the sign as it’s outside the fenced in mall property. It’s practically pristine, although partially shrouded by overgrown bushes surrounding it that were planted (probably) about 10-15 years ago. Has the mall’s crown logo on top in that iconic dual brown color scheme. I’ve got an Instagram right now where I post my photos. I primarily post photos taken on my collection of Sony Mavica digital cameras (the ones that use Floppy Disks for storage). Now that you mention it, I should probably create a Flicker or Imgur to make sure my photos don’t disappear should my phone get destroyed or something lol. I’ll post photos of the sign soon enough, I can DM you too if you have questions about avoiding security if you end up going up to the fenced in area. Oh my Instagram is: mavica_moments_nonstop
