    Catching Gills is a lot more fun than people realize. You can spend all day looking for that new PB bass and not get a bite, throw on a small bait and catch the crap out of some Gills for hours. Going to have to try this double drop shot rig next time I go out for them.

    I love that you go out and go for panfish the way you do. Alot of folks target only bass and kind of act as though all other fish are worthless. I love going out and busting on some bluegill and sunfish. Respect. Keep it reel.

    Where I grew up in N. Texas at Lake Texhoma and the RED RIVER Texhoma DAM those whistles mean if you are down in the river get out,,, They are going to open some flumes and let a lot of water out... Get to higher ground at least up to ankle deep because it is going to rise really fast there close to the outlets where we do a lot of River side BASS fishing...
    I got to get me so ( as the wife said, BABY size bait).
    Nice Vids keep em commin

    Looks good. I'll have to try this out with my 1/8 oz dropshots, on my BFS gear. A few years ago, I did this with a single hook, and bass assassin baby shad 1.5" plastics, rigged with a gamakatsu #4 dropshot hook. That day all the bluegills I got were bigger ones .

      sounds like a tiny rig, dont they swallow it?

    • @mattarmstrong8197
      @mattarmstrong8197 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I figure it's pretty generally always smaller fish. They usually grab and run, and they hook themselves in the lip.

    • @mattarmstrong8197
      @mattarmstrong8197 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    try that rig with the split shot on top of the top hook, both hooks and sinker about the same distance from each other. i put a worm on the end and something smaller on the other. twitch, pause, twitch, pause. the action is great and you can catch pretty much everything with it. I'll definitely have to try this rig too, although i've never caught a single fish using dropshot.

    There has to be some large bass where you're fishing. Those little panfish are just the right size for four or five pound bass. Maybe large bass in that big impoundment where you fish would rather eat all those the shad you have around. My small pond doesn't have any shad and the bass really attack the small panfish.

      I am using a medium action rod with 8 lb test. I will use 6 lb test as well when they get a little more finicky. 👍

    Micro lures are always fun you just catch more fish and that's always a good day on the water

    I tried to find those tiny lures but only found 2 inch curly tail grub. Could I use the 1 inch for crappie or just use the slightly bigger ones?

    • @RealisticFishing
      @RealisticFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course you can use small baits for crappie 👍

    I recently checked out a newish lure I saw on YT. It's a Creme "Flip Flop." It's a stick bait, split half way down with FROG feet at the ends of each leg. I bought two packs, one watermelon red flake, and one they call muddy tramp. They seem to work well on picky Florida bass, but, of course, I wasn't filming. I got them on Bass Pro's website. They don't seem to be widely available, possibly a PBS exclusive? Maybe just too new? Not sure. Anyway, you should check them out.
