Bass Fishing From the Bank - Shallow Water Jerkbait Fishing

- The bass fishing from the bank is starting to pick up so its time for some shallow water jerkbait fishing. Today I am using a YoZuri jerkbait that was sent to the show. I start out fishing in the evening and continue the next morning. While moving from spot to spot I manage to catch a few bass and a shad. The water is starting to warm up and the bass are exploring shallow water. I am excvited for the coming season and I think the fishing will be good. With results like these, I would say shallow water jerkbait fishing is a good way to catch spring bass.

Nice. Been rough here in Indy. Water is chocolate milk. Yesterday a guy came up to me to tell me my white chatterbait wouldn't work. A 2lb. And a 4lb later he stormed off. Gotta have faith. Keep on keeping on.

I got lucky yesterday... was changing or that is just taking my line out of the water to try a different plastic and just as I cleared the water a 14 inch Crappie jumped and grabbed it.. totally unexpected but all I had to do was raise up my rod and it was on the bank... Never really had luck like that before.. keep it real I watch each chance I get... Great fun..

shads good to use as cut bait... I have been told snagging them is the only way to catch them or net them..
yeah, they eat plankton and stuff like that.
Good to see you finally getting some bass to bite ! I’m sure you couldn’t wait to get back at it . Ice just came off the lakes here a few weeks ago in northern Illinois . Seems like the bass are still on a winter pattern . Slow .

i love the yozuri baits , especialy the new ones , old ones kind of suck but the hardcore baits are real good and u can cast them a mile
Man Yo-Zuri is where it’s at amigo I have a full case of Yo-Zuri lures when I’m having a bad day on the water I always tie a Yo-Zuri on and get something great lures

A spot typically needs three things... A spot to ambush food, a way to escape, and comfortable temperatures... There are so many variables its hard to answer a question like this.

I watched one of your older videos where you were talking about your Lews rods you had. Well I finally broke down and got one. I picked up a Lews American Hero combo. It's got good action and real is smooth. Can't wait to get to the water and really try it out. But so far it seems like a good upgrade from my Wal-Mart cheap stuff.
One of these days you should go try out nice mil dam caught about 20 gils and a couple of rock bass saw a bunch of people reel in largemouths and crappie from the bank great place to go on a overcast day !

I was in the same place today. Caught a largemouth, 16" long on a white jig with a spinner. Pulled in 13 yellow bass too. Guy next to me filled his creel with yellow bass.

Going out tomorrow morning fish first this year
Those bass may have been a little bit small but they were still large mouth bass. Looks like it was another fun couple of days of fishing. Thanks for sharing brother.

It's been a cold year. I'm in North Carolina and the water is still fairly cold. I've managed to catch a few buck bass, mostly on Ned rig style baits, one on a shaky head and one on a jerkbait. Nothing big yet. Talked to a guy at the boat ramp who caught 3 under a dock in 22 feet of water. It's a weird year.
Our water temps are about the same but now have a cold front sitting on top of us past 3 days now so some are saying mid 40s again cause of the 20's at night :( but doing work on those jerk baits! Keep at it like always & Happy Fishing

Man, I’ve been watching fishing youtubers for years now. Started with Nick the Informative fisherman, who in my opinion is one of the most informative but you my friend are as realistic as they come. Your honest videos bring a humble approach to fishing. You make it seem that fishing is for everyone, you don’t need those expensive, overly promoted, hyped up baits that only “realistically” bring revenue for those who promote them. Keep up the honest and realistic approach to the sport we love man. Tight lines!
Agreed the channel is what it says it is and he a helper type fisherman , so many out there about the "dough" and fame these days and cocky about it so definitely a refreshing realistic channel 🎣

Have you ever tried fishing at cook public use area over on Percy? I’ve had luck with Texas rigged creature baits there this week. Lots of chuck rock to fish and good bank fishing with the lower water level. Tons of bank to fish on either side of the boat ramp if you follow the shore or trails nearby. Check it out if you are in the area.

Little tip, try a little more slack in your line when working a jerk bait. Any kind of extra movement after the initial jerk/jerks, and no “pause”, the fish will ignore it. Happens to me all the time, also lets the fish eat the bait a little better for hookup!

Often times when your catching the smaller bass on a bait like a jerk bait if ya change up to a Texas rig and fish just a little outside of where you are catching the smaller ones you can get some of the bigger females. I still haven't got my first bass of the year yet. Water near me is still in the high 40s.

Caught my first 2.5 lbs in ks yesterday. Tried everything I had for lures, gave up then caught her on a hot dog.
I've caught more 2-3 pounders on a Beetlespin then on any other lure.

@@RealisticFishing I've caught a 14 inch bass on a hotdog before. I've caught 3 bass an 5 crappie on trout dough 1 day in a hour.
I live by a conservation area named valens and the first time I went fishing there I used hots dogs and caught bass,sunfish and perch I would imagine catfish and carp love em too
My son caught a 3 pounded on a soft minnow with a pinch of catfish bait. Don't ask me how.

These shad swim in schools of 3 or 4 right up on the bank.
I like the videos man, can’t wait to start fishing again, looking to buy a new rod around 5-5 1/2 foot, any recommendations? Already have a lews and okuma kind of want to try a different brand.
5.5 ft is pretty short. Maybe a Daiwa Sweepfire or something like that.
