Utterly astonishing. The dynamics, the rhythms, the cross-rhythms, the power, the delicacy, the stamina, the technique... NOBODY makes a drum talk as she does. And here she was just 26.....
One of the rarest treasures to the world of music. And... she is profoundly deaf. What a strange, seemingly sad but a wonderful irony, that someone who cannot hear sound as those of us in the hearing world, can be so gifted to bring beautiful sounds in the way that only she can... I love her and love her gift. If ever she came to Alaska and performed, I would do my damndest to find a way to see her at least just once in my life... only once... it would last the rest of my life, however much may be left fit.
She felt the vibrations of xylophone and other instruments so well that although she was deaf but she could play the music so melodiously and sweetly..m
those accented notes on the xylophone made me feel an unexplainable feeling....as a drummer im totally impressed.....this is exactly what i expected from her....
Oh God.. Evelyn My Dearest.. You are a True Musical Genius and The Depth of Your Musical Knowledge and Understand and Talents is Just Other Worldly... I Am Truly Speecless and In Love... You Will Absolutely Forever in My Heart Be One of The Most Cherished Women I'll Have Ever Had The True Pleasure to Witness Perform The Ture Magic that I Can Honestly Say Only You Can My Love.... You are a True One and Only One of a Kind Beautiful Musical Angel Sent From Creation and I Love You Evelyn ☺☺💞💞💞💞
She is such an expert dude.............I've got to learn about her in my English text. I thought that was exaggeration. But just came to know now. She is so talented.

here's a little gift I may have forgotten . no one should have to go through life without experiencing Evelyn Glennie . she is ,sort of is.... to drumming what einstein is to math.
That could be interpreted as a rather rude statement! I think you meant (She) - is to drumming what Einstein is to physics? Einstein was not an accomplished mathematician, and actually failed his degree due to a lack of rigour in algebra. He was however a brilliant thinker and identified for all to see, the point of diversion that a physicist should take if you want to deviate from the finite tableaux of classical physics of linear systems, and walk a new path where linearity is just one (very distinct) behaviour out of a nearly infinite array of possible, curved paths. I consider Einstein one of the great philosophers of our time, given his way of always following his thoughts to conclusion, regardless of their counter-intuitive indications. He had the nerve to develop the thoughts towards an all encompassing description of reality, despite the lack of any significant proof of these systems at the time. Once armed with his new physics , others began to use the equations therein, to check whether the behaviour of real systems, as they respond to stimuli, is or is not, well described by the tools he provided to them. The simplicity of some such ideas is seen when the prediction that a planet will come into view several minutes earlier than expected when the sun passes in front of our view of it. The planet was seen earlier than anticipated, suggesting the sun had courved the path of the light from the planet... This proved that space-time is an actual space, and that it is curved by the presence of matter (i.e. gravity deforms space-time). Likewise, when Evelyn Glennie talks about her thinking and approach to music, you know you are being introduced to the non-linear systems in a musical form. Time speeds up, slows, nearly stops, pitch and timbre co-mingle, and sometimes induce warmth but often send a shudder of discordance through your ears, that your mind sort of almost shies away from - Shear brilliance, clarity of thought, and a mission to inform. Pure physics 101
This Concert is Legend. Only Percussionist Musicians, and Musiciàns Could understand this. I would Perfer Masterclasses in Person. This is all I can get for now. I'm gonna get Touch the Sound again.
If you didn;t know she was deaf you wouldn't be listening to her playing on solo percussion instruments for an hour. She is famous for being talented despite her handicap. Still is only playing solo here and unless you are a percussionist pretty boring.
Utterly astonishing. The dynamics, the rhythms, the cross-rhythms, the power, the delicacy, the stamina, the technique... NOBODY makes a drum talk as she does. And here she was just 26.....

Try listen to the soundtrack for the movie "Altamira", she collabs with Mark Knopfler. Hauntingly different, other-worldly.
Aloha from Hawaii,

What an incredible musician. Her stick and finger control are in that rarefied league of master drummers and percussionists. Oh, and she's deaf.
