My main concerns with systemd are that it is overreaching and prodding most of the rest of Linux distros along with it, reducing choice. It's sort of like Ubuntu with their Snaps and such. In and of itself as an initializer it seems more or less alright, but it's too needlessly dominating in the ecosystem and in its implementations elsewhere.

Artix has been my daily driver on both my desktop and laptop for about a year or so, never had any problems with it and the combination of runnit and the ability to use yay makes it everything i look for in a distro :)
I had problems with using regular arch because of some systemd problema that I couldn't find fixes for. Changed to artix linux and everything worls with 100mb less of usage on boot which very important on my system because I dont have a lot of ram. I was also able to install gamemode. Loving artix linux so far.
As others have said of themselves, I’m not a programmer, so I don’t quite understand the problem many people have with systemd. Be that as it may, I watched a video on Artix OS (using runit) back in July and thought I'd give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. After running it as a secondary OS for 2 to 3 weeks, I decided to install it as my main system, and I'm really starting to enjoy it. So far I haven't run into any major problems (no more than I would using a standard Arch OS), and it seems to boot quite a bit faster, and with less memory, than the same system did using systemd. I'm definitely glad I found it!
I tried to use it, but I couldn't install any package. Whenever I tried to install something like Firefox, the browser would never appear on the menu. Was I doing something wrong?
Tried artix s6 for fun, my booting times literally went from 15 to 7 seconds. Good video. My dad is using artix runit with xfce, he says it is just like manjaro but faster. He moved from mint to manjaro because i showed him how to use the aur and he needs some packages that is not in debian or ubuntu repos.
Loved this review and your presentation style start to end. Felt very cosy like home listening to this one 🙃. I'm a Linux fan, been mostly working on Ubuntu desktops and run Ubuntu Mate on my old lap, Windows10 on my newer one. But all this while, I've been looking for a lighter, leaner, yet elegant distro, that keeps the Linux spirit authentic. That's what took me to Arch n then to the big "systemd or not" debate and finally at Artix. It's incredible how community is such a boon to newcomers. Thanks again.

Very nice intro look into Artix. The project does supply weekly builds of all the iso's, so you can get an up to date install media that will help with the number of updates to do after an installation. :-)
I’m not a programmer so I don’t have as much sense of what the problem of systemd is. Thanks for showing us in the grand OTB review style but on this one I’ll really pass.
I dunno what is wrong with using bsd-like init system with everything good that is Arch? Also why would anyone dislike distro for not using systemd? If systemd is really that good, Android (most popular linux based os) would be using it.
