I bought a 6.8 when they first came out in 2021 because I had a once-in-a-lifetime mountain goat hunt and needed a rifle. I picked the 6.8 because it was the only ammo available at the time and I ordered a Browning X-bolt. I shot my goat with it and a deer and my son shot a bull elk. This year we sold the Browning and built a new gun on a Tikka action and took a cow elk with it. I agree it's the Goldilocks cartridge. It's the perfect balance for all around use and not terrible recoil.
That’s awesome! Thanks
When 6.8 Western came out, they started releasing ammo during Covid year when nothing else was available. Since I couldn’t find any of my other cartridges, I started buying 6.8 Western even though there were no rifles available at the time. Next I started buying reloading components like the 175 TGK’s and 170 Bergers. Now I have 300 Loaded cartridges and reloading components to completely wear out the barrel. Finally, I built my rifle. I would be happy hunting with it out to 800 yards. I can consistently hit vital size targets to 1000 yards and beyond, but I don’t think it has the energy to have good performance beyond 800. It’s my one gun to do it all.
That’s awesome!
Browning should have said no 7mm PRC rifles till hornady makes 6.8 westerner
Seems fair to me
@@hopefulballistics 6.8 westerner is a great cartridge and deserves a fair shake
.257 roberts got s fair shake too. +P ammo
Correction: I mentioned that the 6.8 Western was 8 tenths of an inch shorter from base to shoulder. I meant 8 hundredths. I messed up the COAL difference as well.
I posted this comment in a different video a few weeks ago about my experience with the cartridge...
It's a great all purpose caliber. I bought a Browning X-Bolt Speed with a nice and short 20" barrel and use a Harvester EVO suppressor. Virtually zero felt recoil and easy follow up shots. The ONLY negative is no new brass for reloading. I ended up buying 500 rounds of factory ammo that I've repurposed and have a load that I'm almost done tinkering with using Berger 170gr EOL's and Ramshot Magnum. I'm seeing consistent sub-moa accuracy @ 100yds and 3,000+ fps.
Sweet!
I have two 6.8 Western. One target one hunting. A great caliber. Very accurate. Great video, right on target with yor perspective.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the comment
Love my 6.8
Have had good luck with Hodgdon Hybrid 100V and 170gr Bergers.
58.2 gr about 2900fps with no brass stressing.
I anneal Everytime.
Rumor has it Lapua will start making the brass soon.
That would be awesome!
I have 2. Super cartridge. Agree new brass is hard to come by but factory ammo is not. Local sheels, bpro, cabelas carries it. Super accurate with both factory and handloads. I dont see why folks worry so much if somebody else picks it up. Winchester is the biggest ammo manufacturer and they are not stopping making it. Hornady needs others to pick up their cartridges to keep them going. Winchester/Browning does not
I replaced a 7 Rem Mag with a 6.8 Western. I can hear the grumbling now so yeah I know.
Now, I have heard many a person say that they want a “mountain rifle” and they always say they want a short action, lightweight (under 8lbs) and they want fast and flat shooting for elk.
I think that Browning/Winchester actually paid attention to the customer with this cartridge. It shoots high BC bullets at a decent velocity for longer range hunting and available in a short action. Browning’s Pro weighs in at 6lbs 2oz with a scope you are now hunting with a factory off the shelf rifle that weighs just a little bit over 7lbs.
Reloading a 6.8 is much much easier ( no belt) and some minimal money saving than a 7 Rem Mag. Short action vs long action argument (7PRC included).
There ya have it. Thanks for the video
Well said, I agree!
My conspiracy minded thinking leads me to believe the lack of support is due to military adopting 277 fury, a cartridge which could be a good thing for the 270/6.8 crowd with more bullet selection and brass that can be converted
Maybe
You gotta great point sir!
I have one. I haven't shot it a lot. But it shoots very accurately and I think it is a hell of a cartridge
Nice!
Good detailed review...way to go!!
Thanks!
As a long time shooter I am intrigued by the 6.8 Western. That being said the 270 has been a favorite for years, namely the 270 AI, I have moved on to the 270 WSM, absolutely love it. When you look at the physical characteristics there is so little difference in the two that making a defining line gets very difficult. Powder choice, bullet style and weight are critical in the comparison as you pointed out,.As a hunting caliber they are both great. The availability of components and corporate decisions will be the make or break of both these rounds.
Well said!
🤔 I Have Lots of Thoughts Going Through My Head, But The Beginning Of Your Video Shows Why a Cartridge Like the 6.8 Western Would Do So Well Out West - Because the Wind is Always Blowing! A Good High B.C. Bonded Bullet is The Way To Go! Especially if it is in the 150 to 180 grain Weight Range, with the 165 grain bullet sitting right in the Middle, as a Nice "Balance" for Any Species, If You Only Bring and Sight In With One Bullet! 😎
Good point, thanks Ron!
Had mine for 4 years! Love it !
Awesome!
Hasn't even existed for 4 years
Couldnt agree with you more, when the 6.8 catches on and we can get more bullet/brass selections its going to really come into its own.. something Hornady does not want to happen.
ADG brass is looking to start manufacturing 6.8 Western brass later on this year.
I have the 6.8 Western, 270 WSM and the 27 Nosler. As a hand loader I have gravitated to the 27 Nosler for the one main reason you mentioned. The brass for the Winchester calibers is just awful. The 27 Nosler has a much better brass. So disappointing that Winchester and Browning have dropped the ball on their modern 27 calibers.
Unfortunately, you’re right
Winchester and Browning are about guns and Hornaday is about ammo but without ammo the rifles will never become mainstream in popularity
I have a 270 win, I haven't had funds available to purchase anything different, but really the 270 win fits my needs really well. I'm currently loading badlands bulldozer 2 bullets 3150 fps, at 5k elevation that gives me 1507 ft-lbs energy out to 565 yards with impact velocity of 2303 fps. I'm comfortable out to 500 yards, and I know I can get much closer than that for most any shot I want to take on an animal. So I've had a hard time convincing myself to try and fix something that isn't really broken.
I have the 6.5 PRC. It's an awesome round and it dropped my deer in it's tracks. I've taken it on my Elk hunts but I've never had the chance to shoot one with it. I've always had reservations on how it would do on elk. I've always been interested in the short action 6.8 Western. I definitely think it's going to be my designated elk cartridge next fall. Great video!
I appreciate the comment. The 6.5 PRC and 6.8 Western are well designed cartridges.
I own both the 6.5 PRC and the 6.8 Western. Both are excellent cartridges and I’ve taken elk with both. I personally like the 6.8 Western for elk hunting though.
I bought the 6.8 Western, and ammo and brass is hard to get. I do wish more companies made brass and ammo for it. I just ordered 7 SAUM brass to neck down to 6.8 Western. Hornady will not support it, and they really don’t support the 27 Nosler either as they do not have heavy .277 bullets. While I think the 7 PRC will heavily dent any 6.8 Western sales, I am hearing rumblings from 7 PRC owners that they are not getting advertised velocities for it. Who knows, I just hope ADG can make some brass soon for it.
Interesting, thanks
I’ve heard that ADG will be manufacturing brass by the end of the year. Still trying to catch up
@@jimedick9496yep, I’m on a waitlist for it.
Ive been shooting a good old 270 all my life.. absolutely love it. When the 270 WSM came out i was super excited. Unfortunately i also was raising 4 kids so the 270 wsm had to wait. By the time i was able to get one it was on its way out and ammo seems hard to find... i reload but brass is unabtainium. So when the 6.8 western came on the scene i once again got excited about getting one... but it has just flopped. At this rate if i find a 270 WSM id take that i think. 150gr copper bullets driven at 3000fps would take anything short of polar or kodiak bears (actually it would but i would want more gun 😉).
Keep up the good work
I appreciate the comment! Yeah I’m frustrated by 270 WSM availability, but I love the cartridge.
The 7 PRC is the death blow to 6.8 Western; as you pointed out. Hornady marketing is a leviathan.
Probably so
Price and availability of the Hornady projectiles is hard to beat.
That said, I’ll take my 170gr Bergers over Hornady bullets any day.
Not sure now. Hornady straight up lied about 7pr. Velocity
@joshsinglefooter I get reasonably close to box velocity with reloads minus 50 fps for 22" barrel. I think the should update their numbers for the powder they are currently using, though. Bad optics.
Appreciate the video, HB. Thank you!! Within the past week, I've visited multiple outdoor stores in my area looking for a good value 308 bolt action rifle. Several of the shops I've visited carry very nice rifles on consignment. There are some tremendous values BUT almost all of them are 6.5 Creedmoor. There are no good value 308Win rifles to be found. If I had my own channel, I would have filmed this because it was so interesting...maybe an idea for a video series, HB? Good opportunity for another collaboration between your channel and Reloading Weatherby?
After talking to folks working the gun counter, consumers seem to be consolidating and/or looking for the rifle I'm looking to buy. One guy working the counter very frankly stated: "people are looking through their safes seeing rifles they haven't shot in years or shoot rarely those rifles need to go". My analysis: the economy is putting unprecedented pressure on the consumer driving them out of calibers with traditionally more expensive ammo. This may vary greatly by region and would be an interesting study in places like the far west and midwest.
Thanks for watching! Very interesting experience.
I'm sending a dummy round next week to get a reamer made - 270-7PRC. It will have the 170 grain Berger bullet seated such that the dummy round will be 10 thousandths off the lands. This will also accommodate the 165 Nosler ABLR, and if I choose, the 170 grain Nosler btips. With the popularity of the 7PRC, I suspect Lapua will be on board making brass in the near future. As such, I'll be eager to see how my new cartridge will do. I already have 1 barrel in 8 twist, a #4 contour and will be ordering 3 more before the end of the year. The reamer will take up to 90 days once they get the dummy round
That’s awesome!
As a .280AI and7SAUM shooter/loader/hunter, I will tell you he 6.8 Western and 270Wism are fine cartridges. I’ll grab my 7mm-08 in a tree stand whitetail hunting and feel no hesitancy. Will not be drinking the CM dope even tho l like the 6.5PRC. I do understand your affinity to the 7Wism and 6.8 Western. Poor marketing and lack of support has crippled their launch.
Sad, but true
I bought a 6.8 Western. I was very skeptical, but after several trips to the range and testing what ammo i could get my hands on made me a believer in the round. I feel confident in its ability and would carry it anywhere in North America without hesitation. Only problem with it is that the failure on Winchesters part of marketing and getting others on board before launching in a pandemic would have made sense. Winchester seems to have given up on it and any ammo company besides Winchester would be better. Very inconsistent in their quality control. Lol
Good comment, thanks!
Perhaps powder capacity max with RX25 was reached before pressure max was reached in 6.8 Western? Obviously with seating depth of that bullet weight. Just a thought
Yeah that’s possible, thanks
I love my 6.8 westerni bought a browning x bolt max long range and if i shoot .5" group at 100 yards thats a horrible group.i load 64.0 gr of Magpro with a Federal Large rifle primer with nosler 165ABLR it shoots flat out lights out!Shot 1" group at 508 yards with a 22mph cross wind,i cant say enough about this cartridge but Hornady wants it to go away they say it in there pod cast but it seems they come out with a new cartridge every week it seems. They dont want you to reload they want you to buy there ammo.Needless to say I dont support them anymore,no red boxes on my bench anymore.Ive killed 2 deer with this rifle and they were struck dead, never took a step. I your interested in this caliber buy it you wont be sorry
Great information here, thanks!
other ammo makers have said they'd make factory loads for it - one said they're ready right now with tooling & bullets - except they can't get brass
That’s unfortunate
I built a 270wsm with a medium action a 1:8 barrel throated for 170gr bullets and it shoots the lights out 2965ft/sec and .292moa. If your buying a factory rifle 6.8western will give you better performance but if you spend a bit more money on a custom rifle 270wsm is better. I was able to find some Bertram brass
Very nice!
seems like a really great cartridge. i wish Browning & Winchester would support it re marketing, discounts, etc to grow popularity (and support by rifle and ammo makers)
Me too
In my estimation, the ultimate .277 rifle is a 270 wsm in a medium action with an 1:8" twist and throated like a 6.8 western. Best of both worlds with the ability to shoot the heavier bullets AND the powder capacity of the wsm. The medium action would allow tge overall lengths to be where you want them with the longer bullets. A guy could use a tikka long action with a magnum boltface instead of a custom medium action as well.
I can’t argue with that. Sweet!
100% correct that’s what I did
@scottjames3496 Nice man, what bullet and powder are you using? I have an old remington long action at my smith right now getting spun up for this setup. I literally just ordered 2 lbs of h1000 (finally) and some n170 from powder valley a few minutes ago. I also have magnum, rl19 and 22. I'm leaning towards the 165 ablr and the 155 lrx Barnes just put out. I think I should easily be able to get those over 3000 fps. Curious what kind of velocity you're seeing out of yours.
@@robertmajors1737I’m running 65gr of h1000 I thought I’d get a bit more but I’m just barely seeing pressure signs at that 2965ft/sec .294moa
@@robertmajors1737I’m using the Berger 170gr
All browning and Winchester has to do is put a faster twist in the 270 win and that will put the death blow on the 6.8
That’s already started I believe
Who in hunting world want to use any Hornady bullets. Its just they can not afford Nosler or Barnes bullet so go with hornady.
I have a Christensen arms chambered in 6.8 western and hand load. I took this over all the others as you stated the versatility of it. The recoil is easy to manage, but the brass is an issue. I am not getting good life from browning/winchester brass. My go to is staball HD with nosler 165gr and hammer 162 gr.
I hope the situation gets better. Sounds like some good loads you have there.
Do you anneal your brass?
@tonesmith909 I do anneal my brass but unfortunately winchester isn't known for quality brass. For the reloads I am getting though that rifle shoots lights out. I have stretched it out to 700 yards recently with some hammer and nosler pills and it's amazingly accurate. Those I know who ahve the 7mm, mag and 7 prc are not happy lol.
From what I’ve been told by a small ammo company, ADG will start manufacturing 6.8 Western brass by the end of this year. 🤞
I was debating trying Staball HD as well. Mind sharing how many grains you're using? I was getting 2850'sh with a 20" barrel, suppressor, and 4831SC 59.3g (no pressure signs, but definitely more than load data site).
The real question isn't if the 6.8 Western is dead or not. It's when Hornady releases their version of this, will it be a long or short action? 👍🙏✌️
Like the 7 PRCW that Erik Cortina shoots?
I just bought a 6.8 western and live in Ontario. I picked it due to my collection of model 70s as I picked up a super grade. To round out my collection as I was reading as I believe this is the 270 magnum . Will be for a long time and i live in brush and brambles but also have those clear cuts you have to be able to reach out there If need be . As I own two 270s in my opinion it reminds me of the 280 rem vs 7 rem mag but complete opposite reason why it’s becoming obsolete. 280 died because gun stores said “ why wouldn’t you just buy a 7 rem mag. Where this is having the adverse affect “ why would you want a 6.8 when you can get a 270wsm because i want bigger bullets that penetrate like the 270wsm
Awesome, enjoy that new model 70.
I would have bought one, but I don't trust Winchester/Browning (same company like Acura/Honda) ammo quality or brass quality. Great design, but not having a second ammo maker is killing it. Definitely faster than the 270 with the same bullet, but in a short action.
I understand that, thanks.
Completely agree I think it’s just dead.
I use adg 6.5 saum brass fire formed to western. Problem solved
Nice
if I was looking for my first centerfire rifle, I'd be looking real hard at the Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR in 6.8 Western (and it would be a matter of coming up with the money, not whether I want a dif cartridge)
Thanks!
11:10 they may have reached powder capacity with that bullet and seating depth. Did the max load that was under pressure have a compressed notation?
It didn’t say
Unless other manufacturers start releasing rifles for this cartridge, it will become extinct. The fact that you can't get a Ruger American or Savage Axis in it, tells the story. Not even Bergara or Tikka have rifles for it.
Sad but true
🕵️♂️ Speaking of Cartridge Design, we have the 7x64 Brenneke, but the 9.3x64 Brenneke is a little "Fatter" and holds more powder (has a similar case capacity as the 7mm Remington Magnum)! If a US Manufacturing Company Was Able to Neck it down to a 0.284 or 0.277 caliber, but beef up the brass to handle 65,000 psi of pressure, it would also fit 5 in the magazine (as it is right around 0.5" wide), unlike these short/fat(ter) cases everyone is clamoring for! You could give it that sharper shoulder and have the "Ideal" Cartridge Design, as it would give you just as much performance, but one extra round to hunt with in your rifle! 😏 Any Similar Thoughts/Ideas? 🤔
Interesting, thanks
🕵️♂️ Most of the European Cartridges Seem to Operate at Lower Pressures! Since I have got rid of My "Cartridges of the World" book and All of my old Reloading Manuals, do you know of any existing cartridges that operate at 65,000 psi and would be close to that 0.5" diameter (so as to be able to fit an extra round in the magazine and still maximize cartridge velocities)? 🤔
@@ronlowney4700 I’d have to look. I know there c.u.p. instead of p.s.i. I believe cup appears lower compared to psi.
I have the hells canyon 26 in barrel it shoots the 175s like a dream not so much the light loads. Wouldnt trade it for all the 7 crps
Right on
Just like bringing "bell bottoms" back into fashion, 270 WSM V.2.O, everything old is new again... Give it a new name and the generations won't see it... It failed the first time because the 'bottle" is too big, so what has changed, slightly better performance. If .270 were not so popular, it would be a hard sell with such large case dimensions and requiring a magnum primer. That is a whole lot of expectation for a bullet smaller than a 7mm. Yeah, I have a soft spot for .30-06 parent cases, bigger bullets and more energy.
My x bolt shoots .25 moa at 100 with Winchester 162gr copper impacts like wise with browning 175 Sierra game kings
Sweet!
They have a gem and not supporting it, just doesn't make sense and is a shame, darn good cartridge. They didn't support it even before the 7 mm PRC came around
Sad but true
I maybe mistaken, but I thought the U.S. army has adapted the 6.8 x 51mm cartridge for it 's new battle rifle?
The 6.8 Western and the 6.8 common cartridge (277 Sig Fury) are two different cartridges.
Both are very similar in BAC, and pressure. what I don't understand is why the Military went with same size bullet, with a different case. For an extra 200 yards? Yet shied away from polymer casings...@@hopefulballistics
I have always thought the 6.8western would be a hunt everything in North America cartridge. My future plan is to find a tikka and spin a 6.8 barrel on. I’d have a 6.8 already but I’m not very happy with the rifle option right now. Brass options are concerning. #savethe6.8western
#savethe6.8western
My local dealers are ordering it anymore. No request. DOA.
Did you guys see that Christensen Arms is chambering for the 6.8 western now?
I saw that
If the 270 short mag. came with a faster twist barrel, why would the 6.8 be needed?
It wouldn’t
Not having many ammo choices is the only reason i didn't buy the 6.8 western
I understand that
@hopefulballistics what i really liked about the numbers i was seeing was it seemed to have the recoil of a 6.5 Creedmoor and performance close to the 300 win mag. Both of which i already own and love. I figured it would be nice addition to my hunting guns
Any ideas how we can get good brass for the 6.8 western
Unfortunately I believe only Winchester and Browning make brass.
@@hopefulballistics yes I unfortunately know that. I’m wondering if there is something we can fire form ourselves or put pressure on others to manufacture it
1. You need to check your math. Difference in case head to start of shoulder on 270 WSM vs 6.8 Western is 0.0805. That’s just over 8 hundredths not 8 tenths. Cartridge overall length difference is 0.135 which is a hair over 1 tenth, not close to one inch. 2. Although I have been shooting and loading the original 270 for 50 years, I will admit that the 7mm bullets have better ballistic characteristics. The Nosler 175 grain Long Range Accubond and Partition are good illustrations of that. To that end none of these cartridges are better than 7 Rem Mag. 3. 50 fps or less difference at these velocities and bullets weights is practically and statistically insignificant. 4. Why bother comparing 130 grain bullet weights when the advantage for the 270 WSM and 6.8 Western is their ability to stabilize the longer, heavier, high BC bullets with the faster twist barrels they are designed for. At any ethical hunting shooting distance ( I don’t mean 500 yards) the standard 270 Winchester 130 or 150 grain in a 1/10 twist barrel is just as effective. Even the Nosler 160 Partition works just fine in the 1/10 270 Winchester. 5. I would bet that even 10 years in the future if you take either the 6.8 Western or 270 WSM to Africa and loose your ammunition, you will not be able to walk into any gun store and find either of those on the shelves. 7x57 Mauser, 270 Winchester, 30-06, 300 H&H, 300 Win Mag, 9.3x62 Mauser and 375 H&H will still reign supreme. 6. A couple of makers are supposed coming out with faster twist 270 Winchester but probably too late. 7 PRC is already available from 8 or more manufacturers and only 2, Browning and Winchester are offering rifles in 6.8 Western. Happy hunting boys and girls!😊
You are correct on the math. I stand corrected. I compared the 130 grains because I was genuinely curious how they would do. I like what cartridges I like. I really don’t care if they’re not the most common or popular ones. Should we all like only common and popular movies, vacation destinations, etc? Every one is different, if you like particular cartridges, great, doesn’t mean I should. I appreciate the comment.
@@hopefulballistics I didn’t say that you should not like or use the cartridge or that everyone should like or use the same thing or that there is anything wrong with the cartridge per se. The point is that one should look before they leap, especially folks with limited funds who may find themselves with a rifle with limited support from ammo manufacturers and other suppliers and be stuck with a rifle with limited resale or trade in value. It’s no different than buying a new car model before it has been proven in the market place.
🕵️♂️ I watched a video yesterday that said Federal (Remington was purchased by them recently) was Just Bought Out by a Foreign Company (I Believe They Were From the Chech Republic)! Additionally, One of the Major Manufacturing Facilities of Ammunition Just Received a Federal Contract with the Government! So, We May Be Seeing More Civilian Ammunition Shortages Again? ☹
Made the mistake of buying Winchester ammo once. Every piece of brass was dented. I will never buy anything winchester again
In my experience Winchester ammo quality control is not great.
I hear ADG brass is coming out with brass.
I heard that too
I want a 6.8 but it’s just not worth it cause ammo maybe SCARES in comming years.
Unfortunately I totally understand that
To me like most of the others ,they keep trying to reinvent the wheel. No matter what you do ,you still only have so much powder capacity and it seems like there is a lot of BS trying to make up alot of false information across the board. This type of cartridge with High BC bullets are designed for long range shooting in theory. The bullets ,casings ,and brass is alot more expensive. There is no huge supply of brass or bullets. You don't see a bunch of that ammo around.
No it’s not common or popular, but I think it merits it.
Ballistics wise the 6.8 Western is a really good round for big game and wide open spaces. But for some reason the "in between" cartridge sizes .257 and .277 get skipped over. Seems like if people are going to "step up" from .243 or 6mm they pass over .257 and go up to a 6.5 of some sort. Same with stepping up from 6.5mm, they seem to skip over .277 and go with a 7mm variety cartridge. I don't think the "in between" cartridge sizes offer enough of a gain to most shooters, unless it is game specific, when going for extra power or heavier bullets, so they are skipped. With the exception of the .270 Winchester and to some degree the .25-06 Remington there aren't any really popular mainstream cartridges in those sizes. It also appears that Hornady now has the clout and power to make or break a new cartridge simply by deciding they do not want to load for it or offer reloading supplies.
Good comment, thanks
I just picked up a Winchester XPR in 6.8 Western. This rifle is a handloader's dream. Easy to develop accurate and lightning fast rounds, and isn’t particular about which bullet you choose.
I also own a .270 WSM in a Browning semi-auto. Two very different rifles, two very different cartridges. Nothing "dead" about either one of them as far as I'm concerned.
@@bustabass9025 nice!
@hopefulballistics
Yep! The only thing "dead" about them is the "aim" they deliver and the "game" they drop! That's what makes them really "nice." 😉
Which performs better in a 20-inch barrel? 6.8 Western or 7 PRC? How about recoil comparing the two in light rifles?
I’ve never shot these cartridges in 20 inch barrels, so I’m just making an educated guess. Overall pretty similar, but I would think the 6.8 Western would be less hampered by the shorter barrel because of a little less case capacity. Slightly less recoil with the 6.8 all things being equal. Honestly very similar though.
Great Video!
I absolutely love my 6.8 Western. I have a Browning Xbolt and was able to use it during the 2022 and 23 seasons. The gun has killed three bears, two bull elk, one cow elk, a mule deer buck, and one coyote. One bear was 460 yards, and the mule deer was 570 yards. The other shots were all under 400 yards. It hits hard and does a great job on big game. I'm a big 30 cal guy, and I love my 300 Rum but this is a great lightweight backcountry style rifle. I reload my own bullets. I'm currently using the Sierra 175gr TGK with Hogdon 4831SC with speeds just over 2800 fps. It averages half moa at 600 yards. I have absolutely loved this cartridge.
Kill shot of one of the bears at 385 yards.

Awesome! Thanks for the comment!
I'm a 7 RM guy , but 6.5 , 30 cals awesome and in the safe. Next gun is 6.8 or 7mm maybe the PRC . But neither crushes my 7 RM or 300 WM . Haven't got a Browning so it will be ammo availability and whatever version of X bolt LR on sale suits my fancy for the win. 04/08 7 PRC and 6.8 Western and 300 PRC in X bolts MAX LR on hand range day later this month , should be fun.
Nice
