  • Winchester City Walk a walk around historical Winchester before taking on the long distance footpath of the Pilgrims Way, England's Oldest Pilgrimage that dates back to 6 century BC.
This walk of history takes in some of Winchester's greatest landmarks.
Winchester use to be the ancient capital of England before London took that status. Home to King Alfred the 'Great' and Arthur's Round Table. A place steeped in history which includes Winchester College, Wolvesley Castle, St Swithun and the novelist Jane Austen.
This is the Pre Pilgrims Way walk where the next video will commence on the Pilgrims Way from Winchester to Canterbury and onwards to Dover Castle.
Please join me on this series of walks as we cross Southern England taking in the beauty, history and elegance as we follow this ancient long distance footpath.
    Thanks for Watching

Thanks Andy, just finished this walk in 10 days. Inspired by your videos (partly!). Maybe I should have paid more attention as I got lost in the first 30 minutes... And a few more times. But an uplifting experience overall.

I think the first bit from Winchester to nunns Lane was the trickiest part to navigate, now very well signposted, but glad you enjoyed the journey, did you go bare foot from st dunstan to cathedral?

My friend, I had to go back and catch your introduction to the Pilgrim’s Way. Very excited to follow your pilgrimage. I must add this to my trails list.

Thank you so much for watching the previous episodes, the Pilgrimage is full of interesting religious locations, history and great locations along the way including novelist Jane Austen, Charles Darwin (science of evolution) military sites and of course the end goal Canterbury cathedral where I followed the pilgrimage to the book and received the reward for doing so - enjoy
