American Idol did not do her voice justice. I always thought she could sing, but the girl can SANG!. Plus, she has some soul to her voice. Her technique is awesome. She could literally sing the phonebook & I would enjoy it. She's a powerhouse singer!

There is a long video on TH-cam with Jason Halbert her music director. It's terrific and covers the whole behind the scenes of music production for the show...really good. He's been with Kelly her whole career. Obviously she's wonderful to work with. Her entire band moved to NYC to stay with her. On a show the other day she mentioned they filmed 9 songs in one day of all styles to have them ready in case she gets sick. She's the best!

I know you like that), it must've been love, peice of my heart, my way, california dreaming, cryin', just a fool, somebody told me, run to you. PLEASE DON'T STOP THE KELLYOKE REACTIONS.
One of my favorite things about Kelly is her ability to sustain a note. She'll let it hang there, she doesn't rush it, there's no loss in pitch. She can hold a note beautifully for a ridiculous number of beats and for maximum impact. She can do all the awesome vocal manipulations and flourishes of the best, but there's something to be said for just singing the dang note and doing it well.
So the people who choose the song, are the audience members. Kelly has spoke about it in some interviews. She chooses a member at the beginning of each show. They give her the song. And she goes back and memorizes the song! She's incredible
Tara I know this isn’t about you but I simply love watching your videos because one, you’re HONEST & 2, you always explain in detail how difficult some of the runs, the notes these artist hit then you show us and hit the note so easily 😂 I think it’s funny cause you’ll hit the note so effortlessly immediately after expressing how hard it is…. you don’t get enough credit for your voice ❤

I was at the taping when she sang “losing my mind” her voice was echoing throughout the whole place. It was beautiful

Back when she was touring she would do "Kellyoke" every night and it would be a fan suggested song from the same day!
Heard her say that fans request the songs for her. Her team then gets the legal approval before she sings them on her show.
