0:46 lands facing the object hahahahahah.... rewind 1 minute, "I see people doing it, and landing like a backflip facing towards where the came from" Jason Paul Exposed
he twists to face where he took off from after he flips though because thats the natural rotation your body takes after completing a sideflip. Its a sign of a high, fast sideflip
Really helpful! In my teenage years i used to freerun alot. A few years ago however, i quit. Since then i have been struggling a bit with my weight, i'm not overweight but i did get heavier! I really wajja start off from the start so this was very helpful! If anyone has any tips for me in general, welcome to give them :D
Thanks for this tutorial! I finally landed my backflip. It was really hard, some of the points in this tutorial didn't really make sense (like going over your sides) but I got it in the end!
I've been trying to learn how to do a side flip but I'm always scared I'll land on my head and suffer a concussion or something. I know there's a very small chance of that even happening but every time I go to do one, there's just a lingering voice at the back of my head telling me I can't do it. This basically goes for most parkour related moves. But after watching this, I'll try it out once again. Great video guys! Also there were so many parts in that video where it felt you were going to suddenly crack up but the video just cuts to the next scene right before that happens. It's hilarious
This is great cos most times when I sideflip it feels like I’m sideflipping but I’m actually starting off with a front and turning into a side, so this was really useful for me 🙏
I have a few disagreements with this. First: The tip about foot placement & kick obviously only works for step up sideflips or webster sideflips. Flat ground gather step take offs usually work best with 45 degree turned feet and no kick with the rear leg. Second: learning by spotting an object the entire rotation will make you flip right over your head rather than the desired 'barrel roll' type rotation. Imo the best way is to think of the flip as a "front flip with your body facing sideways", i.e. look with your head the way you would in a front flip (ground, knees, ground), kind of like a shoulder roll. Lastly, pertaining to the second point; same goes with the chest. Sure, you don't want to intentionally turn your chest, but remember that your chest is hunched over during the flip, so turning it is kind of the same thing as rotating sideways, if that makes sense.
He's trying to tell us not to do "barrel" sideflips and that's the whole point of the video. I don't know why he thinks strict side-axis sideflips are the right way to do it, but I think it's because you can get a much higher set this way compared to barrel sideflips.
@@ethtt Well, yes and no. The thing is; he does a "barrel" type sideflip himself. I doubt that he himself learned the way he explains it, when he first started. Even with a tall chest during the set, he still folds it in during the rotation, and looks at his knees. If you take a look at like 90% of freerunners, no one does it by looking straight out of the flip, everyone folds their head in. I harp about this because i was given the tip to spot the wall when i started and as a result my sideflip was ugly and untucked af and I had to unlearn that which took quite some work.
@@ethtt and also, you can still do the "barrel" version but on a strict axis; in fact i think it usually ends up cleaner. Again, have you ever seen anyone use the "wheel" style when doing a double sideflip (which requires you to stay on the same axis for both rotations)? I have, and it always ends up turning the second rotation into a backwards mess, see Joey Adrian or Nick Provost. Everyone who can double well does the barrel style.
Dude, get a grip. It is physically impossible to have a stable sideflip rotation. He over rotates his counter rotation because the rock gives him to much height
This was incredibly helpful! Can you do a video on how to start flipping outside when you have only practiced in a gym before? Something like how to transition inside parkour skills for the outdoors? Haha
obviously you can do a proper sideflip, but most of those slow-mo's you just spot the ground and face backwards which isnt great for actually spotting where you are going/pre's
This tutorial wasn’t German enough, I do not trust its efficiency.
Gabriel Clark-Alvarado agreed
JA SEHE ICH AUCH SO!!!
Ganz geil
Gabriel Clark-Alvarado he had his right arm up..was that not enough:D
Agreed
4:30 I see what you did there
This is very bad
@Joshua Millet actually even worse

ParkourAYCE Ahah I was thinking that 🤦🏼♂️😂
damnit ayce, I was about to say that
I think he was showing what not to do 🤔
🤔🤔got him😂😂
This dude can dub front on grass and on air track easily
And when he flips I can only see him landing with the foots pointing to the starting point :'D
he twists to face where he took off from after he flips though because thats the natural rotation your body takes after completing a sideflip. Its a sign of a high, fast sideflip

@@maurokoller3910 i guess jason means something else, ive seen guys do an (unintentional) actual twist in the rotation, it looks quite different
Mauro Goncalves he means before you flip
"start a sideflip rotation and they twist to far [...] land facing where you took of from." And thats exactly my problem with my sideflip :'D
love how he addresses the mistake of the landing but proceeds to land all of them looking where he came from

We might not be using barrel to describe the same thing. I'm thinking of barrel as in your back is directly facing the ground when you're upside down.
Actually, I take it back. His back is facing the ground, so he is barreling. So he does contradict himself.
Bro Make more flip tutorial please 😊😊
Its so funny to see you "look at the camera", Jason.
Thank you so much team farang ft Jason, this really helps..😁
you were literally landing your sideflip facing where you came from (like a backflip), exactly how you said we shouldn't do it
Dude, get a grip. It is physically impossible to have a stable sideflip rotation. He over rotates his counter rotation because the rock gives him to much height
Thank you Jason, that was a good tutorial. For me the sideflip is hard, so thanks for the tips! 👍
"I'm gonna break down all sides of your body." Thanks Jason :(
*gestures towards chest* "this is your back"
the perfect side flip only happens when am mindful about it.
Thanks a lot for these tips, I'm gonna use them soon. When I do the sideflip, I always land backwards...😂
The same mistake I've done it a lot of times on a floor, but i was disappointed of back landing it's annoying really
9:13 lol
Tried out !
Hahaha
Ok... But how abount to do a good sideflip on flat ? (I love these videos)
I've been trying this for years, sadly I can't maybe I was not born for this
I learned very mutch
Come on ! I needed these tutorial so much but now that my knee's injured I can't practice anymore..... What a life...
Make a tutorial on how to fix your sideflip
One thing that should be brought up is people commonly looking over too quick. Had that for a year and had to relearn the trick altogether.
This is the most passive aggressive tutorial I’ve ever seen
TheDg403 what are you talking about

Front handsprings off of tables or ledges is an excellent way to start
much learn. many thank
That's very nice.
couldn't focus on the tutorial, the fragments on the shirt caught my whole attention
Thanks bro.. i was doing like a shitty front 180.
going over your head instead of over your back with your head kinda same level is the big problem i see and kinda have sometimes
Why land backward? You shold land sideward? That's completly disaster!
Wow, your sideflip is so beautiful

But when you do this on flat ground, you do it that way too? Because I don't think there is enough time for making that starfish
how can i do a sideflip but land with like one feet first and then the second one. Like backflip flashkick zakzak
WAIT A MINUTE!...just...how did you know my sideflip sucks?
J Soldat 🤷♂️
All sideflips suck compared to Jason's
Joke's on you! I don't have a side flip
obviously you can do a proper sideflip, but most of those slow-mo's you just spot the ground and face backwards which isnt great for actually spotting where you are going/pre's
My side flip actually pretty good
my friends sideflip is weird. when he does the flip, his spin is off axis but lands correctly. we don’t know how to fix it
Do one for webster
It looks so warm where u are. In germany its fucking cold
