    • @MadameAshlini
      @MadameAshlini 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Catriona Halliday in the same way! Haha especially after a breakout- in those areas I have dry flakes, but everywhere else is oily/normal. I usually use a face wash formulated for oily skin then moisturize with a gel formula (so my oil doesn't go crazy!) and then on the spots I am dry I use a heavier moisturizer. Hope this helps!

    What about combination skin? I have an oily face with SUPER bad dry patches. Like the dry patches are like flakey and when I put foundation on top it just clings to it and makes it took worse.

    • @candymountainxx
      @candymountainxx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I have this same problem. my overall skin type is acne prone so I use a gentle scrub with acne medicine in it but then treat the oily and dry parts of my fave differently. if I do masks, I'll have one for oily skin and then use another one for my dry patches. I use a lightweight moisturizer all over and then go back with a heavier cream where needed.

    You are amazing!! I was getting so down and didn’t think there was a solution to my dry skin problems!! My skin always looked patchy and dry but adding the oil (which I never thought you should mix with foundation etc lol!) worked a treat! Thank you so much you’ve made me feel so much more confident in make up :D I’ve tried so many expensive foundations/skin regimes etc and non of the ‘professionals’ could never tell me why or how to get rid of my dryness?!!! @bellababaroga 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i feel you gurl! use a mattifying primer on your oily spots and a hydrating+skin perfecting one on the flaky parts. Naked Skin concealer covers up alligator/"lizard" skin. dewy foundation all over (I love the Bodyshop one) and last but not least, press a small amount of face or HD powder on your oily spots NOT the entire face. hope that helps :)

    • @Tamerayy
      @Tamerayy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      same! if you're trying to get rid of your oily spots, try using a generic facemask or tea tree oil on them (do not put on already-dry spots) and then follow up with a moisturizer. I have to help my boyfriend apply a face mask (Freeman's avocado mask) once a week to keep his T-zone under control. If you're trying to get rid of the dry patches, definitely exfoliate and look into purchasing argan oil if you don't already own it (but coconut oil works too)! Avoid any drying or hardening masks on dry skin and maybe consider some DIY facemasks (like Yogurt+honey+avocado, that one is my fav) and use oils to remove makeup and moisturize (remove makeup with oil, wash your face with whatever face wash you usually use, exfoliate while doing so, then lock in the goodness by putting a small amount of oil in your hands (size of a dime) and run your hands under the faucet for literally half a second to dilute the oil. Then pat on your face and let air-dry)! Just remember that it's easier to put makeup on oily skin than dry skin, so if you're going to try and combat one of your skin types, definitely take care of the dry skin first :)

      @KaySalgado01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      What I do is powder my cheeks only. Then go on top with bronzer contour and blush. It mattifies that area so that it's easier to blend. You can also use cream products if that doesn't work for you :) check out my channel! I'm thinking about doing separate information videos soon 💋 xoxo

    • @socksaisillesofargoz
      @socksaisillesofargoz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Maybe switch to cream blush highlight and bronzer. Or you can scrape some of your powder product out and mix it into a little of your foundation primer to make a cream and apply that. Idk just some ideas that work for me!

    I moved from New Zealand to California and my skin went from oily (in New Zealand) to dry here in California. I will try this method for my face but my biggest problem has been very very dry skin under my eyes. I have dark circles under my eyes and when I try to conceal them (no matter how light handed I am) it drys up and becomes scaly under my eye. Do you have any tricks or tips for hydrating under the eye and any recommendations for under eye creams and hydrating concealers that may help me?

I was exfoliating to get the dead skin off but she told me to completely stop because I was causing more dryness than I was helping. +Jennifer Kirkham To exfoliate with dry skin, don't use an exfoliating scrub! Just buy some sort of astringent (ie witch hazel) and use it with a cotton pad. It won't dry you out and it'll get rid of all the dead/dry skin!

    I'm having really really bad dry skin issues recently.
    My skin has always been dry but I'm in and out of hospital all the time which dries out my skin worse, been super stressed lately, and it's winter in Scotland.
    But my skin is literally peeling off my face. It's like the American Baby Feet peel thing, but happening on my face. Two months of this!!!
    I found out that anything with oil in it is making my skin a lot worse. So everything has to be a water based formula and contain less than 2% of oil.
    It's now at the point I won't go anywhere and my depression and anxiety (due to other circumstances) is a lot worse and making my skin worse.
    I've tried every single oil you could possibly think of and the worst was coconut and second to that was almond oil.
    I need help here. Because I love makeup and love wearing it. All my products are for dry skin and worked perfectly before this happened.
    My foundation- collection Illuminating foundation and its full coverage and I use a tiny amount.
    Face masks- lush- don't look at me/Oatifix
    Moisturiser- boots botanical moisturiser dry skin rescue in the small tub! (Also use their exfoliating wash, cleanser and eye makeup remover. I have everything from the botanical range!
    Concealer- collection Illuminating concealer
    Powder- Nyx loose powder and only use it to bake my under eye for five minutes and nowhere else. My dry zones are my nose, and forehead and actually by my ears.
    Blush- collection one of my Younique one!
    Highlighter- benefit liquid one and or the sun beam one.
    Don't use bronzer, my contour is actually a really dark foundation and highlight is a white foundation (I'm always the lightest shade because I'm pale! Lighter than that is this MUR concealer that's basically white. Love it! And it's very very moisturising and not that thick texture. But still beautiful coverage)
    And that's it that would effect my dry zones.
    I cannot deal with this crap! I resorted to using hair conditioner to moisturise my skin. And it did work and I didn't have ANY flakey skin for the three months I used it. But it made me freak out invade it damaged my skin and I stopped. And it went back to this dry mess.
    Anybody. Please. Help. Me.

      Alexa Campbell try looking up korean skincare! i tried it and it helped my skin SO MUCH. my face also used to flake off when i wore foundation for 2+ hrs with my past skincare routine. I HIGHLY recommend sleeping masks which is a last step in your routine and it's a very thick and moisturizing overnight cream that makes your face so plump and hydrated when you wake up. Ampoules are also a GODSEND. I use the Cosrx ampoule which doesnt irritate my skin at all and i have hella sensitive skin. I have a 10-step korean skincare routine, it is hellllaaaa time-consuming but very worth it.

      Hey Alexa, unfortunately I have the same exact problem from severe health issues, many major surgeries, early menopause from surgery and lots of prescription meds have made my skin a severely dry mess, and extremely sensitive, even almost everything containing aloe gives me eczema so it's really hard for me to find a good moisturizer. I know you said you've tried every kind of oil and they don't work or mess up your skin, do you mean make you break out or make it drier? I've also tried every kind and I have been using 100% pure organic Argan oil, 100% pure organic Rose hip oil, and I just started using a mix of 100% pure organic Macadamia Nut oil with a tiny bit of pure organic need oil (I would use more of the need but I can't stand the smell of it, I so wish they could remove the smell cuz it's an amazing oil) I also add a little Dotera essential oils, Sage and rosemary to cover up the need oil smell but they are also really good for dry skin, but I wouldn't recommend any other essentials oils other then the dotera brand which I think you have to buy through a rep. But the essential oils sold at the stores even Whole Foods are not pure, dotera's are the best, my mom sells them and uses them on her massage patients, she did tons of research. But anyway, that mix has been really helping my skins dryness and also clearing it up, it's also very anti aging. But if you have tried those oils already or don't want to try them, I also found a moisturizer that actually does have aloe but is the only one that hasn't given me eczema, it's weird, but it's the Dr. Jart Ceramidin cream, which is actually from a Japan, I think but has gotten so popular in the US that it's sold at Sephora and Birchbox and probably lots of other places too. It's the most moisturizing cream I've found so far but it's pricy for me so I keep looking and buy it when I can. I mostly use my oils though. I hope this helps. Oh I also just got a sample of Juice Beauty stem cellular exfoliating peel spray in my last Birchbox and it's awesome! It makes my skin so much smoother and softer, again has aloe but has t given me eczema yet, fingers crossed it won't, maybe it's the quality of aloe that makes the difference I don't know, even in expensive products aloe usually breaks me out with eczema. Best of luck!!! And I pray you heal!!!!!!!!!!

      Sorry I forgot to say be carful using Macadamia nut oil if you have pets, it is very toxic and can cause paralysis in the hind legs of dogs, there aren't enough studies on what it does to cats but just don't let them lick it off of you if you try it and have pets!

      ..I know, this is older vid, but if you are still struggling with super dry skin; Try Korean Beauty routines? They saved my super dry sensitive skin!
      1: Gentle double cleansing if you are wearing makeup/SPF (or just Bioderma Micellair Water is great for dry skin too, I usually still rinse with water). 2: Hydrating, ph balansing toner and essence. I usually use Missha First Treatment Essence after cleansing, then Puynkang Yul Essence-Toner, which really saves dry, irritated skin! 3: Then hydrating sheet mask (like Missha Speed Solution Hyaluron Mask) or hyaluron serum and finally 4: Puynkang Yul Nutrition Cream. I also exfoliate my skin with the Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toner 2-3/week after cleansing my face. It's so funny, that even if I have dry skin, most of the oils (even 100% pure, fragrance free, which are only ones I ever tried) don't work on my sensitive skin either (or they irritates my sensitive eyes too much)! Surprisingly the best so far is so inexpensiveThe Ordinary Squalene Oil, which work also under makeup :)

      It might be time for a dermatologist. I have redness/dryness/contact dermatitis around nose in winter. Doc recommends using head/shoulders. Lather let sit on dry patch. It's skin cells that don't slough off, but build up. That helps remove it. I bought a travel size so I don't need big bottle. It works. You can use moisturizer after.

    I so glad someone did dry skin. I see a ton for oil skin tutorials, not much for dry skin. If I don't exfoliate regularly then I look and feel like I have scales. I exfoliate before I put makup on every time. I only wear makup like 3 to 4 times a week. So Im not overdoing exfoliating. I also put a few drops of face oil with my foundation. Love the way it looks and feels when I do that. I have to have full coverage foundation because when I was a teen I had bad acne. I don't have it now, but I still have the scars from it. Even though its been 15 years.

    You forgot a major ingredient! Glycerin! That is what in fix + makes it so wonderful for dry skin! dimethicone also tends to grab onto flaws, so only use if your face is tight/dehydrated rather than dry and patchy. I prefer two primers, first the laura gellar hydrating and then I spot-correct with porefessional.

    I have normal to dry skin and I agree with some of these tips but not all of them work for me personally. I can't use primers like the Pore-fessional because they are too drying. I tried a sample of the CoverFx foundation and it was very dry and patchy. I have large pores and redness so I find that I can't wear dewy light coverage foundations in the winter when I'm driest and palest. For me, the solution has been lots of skin care. Good exfoliation, oils, and creams to hydrate my skin at night and in the morning. I also spray hydrating mist before and after applying my makeup and use the RT sponge damp. Everybody is different! Love you Marlena!

    I tried a sheet mask for the first time recently, a hydrating one from the Miss Spa brand at Walgreen's (cute cartoon girl on the packaging). OMG made me realize sheet masks are a life-changer for dry skin. Leaving it on for 20min, the sheet helps it soak into your skin rather than sort of dissipate when it's exposed to air. And just rub the remaining serum into your skin afterward. AMAZING! Love to use this at night.

    Is your skin dry or actually dehydrated? I used to think I had extremely dry skin, so I used really high end nourishing creams, but it never made my skin and therefore my foundation look better, i'd struggle with virtually any foundation looking dry and cake. But the lady at the clarins counter told me I actually had dehydrated skin, so after using 2 clarins products specifically for that type of skin, and all of a sudden I can use nearly all foundations! Best discovery ever! Something to look into for anyone who assume they're dry skinned.

    Out of all the hydrating face creams you could use as advice to the average woman with very dry skin you chose Le Mere?? Not all of us own a makeup line nor funded by a TH-cam channel. I really miss the videos from way back you did without all the luxury features you consistently do now. It's great that you are financially well off & successful no hate here just wish you could remember not all of us can afford the highest price tag on all things you use. I see this over & over on TH-cam from ladies I have watched for years turning into these different people & the channels getting so different. Being humble & keeping in mind a lot of us work 12 hours a day while caring for our family keeping up with a home trying our best to make ends meet & as much as we would love a moisturizing cream & other luxuries in the hundreds of dollars we choose to put all that money to our children & eating out once in awhile to have a break from cooking on top of all the rest we do. It would just be nice to not see these overpriced products thrown around as if its just the best little cream or product. If you can afford to just pay out money on products just for the name on the label great but it's not nice to just be all that's featured to "work the best" no matter how sweet you come across it still makes you look as if you just wouldn't use it if its not top of the line & that's not a good look on anyone over abundant wealth or not. There is more than plenty of all that everywhere on every single social media platform all day everyday "Look at me, look at what I have " it would be so nice to not see that so much from you as well.

      Why focus on the one thing that's expensive, especially a moisturizer as you can get good moisturizers at the drugstore (try simple and Cerave PM). I thought she did a good job of showing low and high end. Just as there are ppl that can't afford a $100+ moisturizer (I'm in this group) there are ppl who can. Plus these are just suggestions.
      On a side note your comment makes me think you might feel like it's not fair that other people can have things that you can't. You work hard. You work a lot and have to take care of people. And at the end of the day you can't afford luxury stuff and other ppl who work less than you can. How is that fair?
      Maybe in wrong but I hear that defensiveness in your comment. And it might help you feel better if instead you're just grateful for what you do have. A family. A job. A roof over your head. I know it sounds simple but it helps the bitterness.

      +emigeeayeen No way you have tried "every drugstore" product, that would be ridiculous and cost an incredible amount of money. There are hundreds of dry skin products sitting in your local Walmart alone, much less all the thousands of different products available online from various websites. Come on now, be realistic, don't over-exaggerate. There are a lot of inexpensive products out there for moisturization, including plenty that aren't technically "drugstore" products, and there are plenty of high end products that do not work all that great also. You recommended Origins, and I have to say, I have tried Origins, wasn't that fantastic and I know lots of people who have said the same. I use Queen Helene cocoa butter moisturizer, which is actually from the same brand as the olive oil mask that was suggested in the video, bought from Walmart and costs me like $5 for 15oz of product. Leaves me feeling balanced and baby smooth in the morning.

      +Bella Mae The price of products that TH-camrs present in their videos isn't usually what bothers me. What bothers me most is that the La Mer cream is actually awful for the skin given the irritating ingredients/fragrance it has. I always check Beautypedia because their reviews are based on scientific research and knowledgeable analysis of the ingredients/packaging. I highly recommend looking up BEST rated products on their site. They usually have some for all price points, including drug store. :)

    Please do a tutorial on IT Cosmetics. I have had dramatic changes from using this outstanding line. I get so many compliments on my skin, not the makeup!! This line is AWESOME!

    Your cracked skin in the video thumbnail made me physically uncomfortable lol. Like when someone on TV has bugs crawling on them and it makes your skin itch.

    Thank you for this video! I watch a lot of makeup videos but most skip over the skin care parts. I have such dry skin and never know what works and doesn't! Definitely going to try a foundation you mentioned!

    To set my foundation I spray a damp beauty blender or cosmetic sponge with a setting spray. Shake off the excess then lightly dab all over my face (except my eye makeup). This technique really gives my dry skin that dewy finish I love.

    Liked the video! I have really dry, flakey skin with alot of redness and all of the products you recommended have hated my skin (minus the setting sprays). Totally goes to show how personal makeup is and that what might work for someone doesn't work for someone else. Thumbs up! 👍

    Yesssss🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Thank you sooo much for posting this video! I can’t thank you enough. I’m new to makeup and I’m 28 and a mom of 3. My skin is so dry now and I’m trying to start putting makeup on. I have no clue what I’m doing 🙈 I bought Matte+poreless foundation and it looks so bad on me 😭 I literally look way older than I am. So now I’m going to try out these techniques and products and see if I get better results! Again thank you!!! 💕😇 (subscribed and liked) can’t wait to watch more of your videos!!!!!!!

    Yep, I'm the owner of the ultra dry skin club!! I live in a very cold, dry climate during the winter which makes things even worse. I find that a key step is exfoliating on a regular basis which you didn't mention. I use the MAC charcoal exfoliant which works great for me. Some other products that I find work excellent are Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil as well as the Josie Maran 100% pure Argan Oil, both found at Sephora. Also, Avene has a wonderful soothing moisture mask that I leave on. For moisturizer, I highly recommend Murad's Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture lotion (they have one for the face and also one for the eye area) and the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + . I also love the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream and the Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream! Facial mists such as Caudalie Grape Water is nice to start hydrating the face with before anything else.ALL wonderful products for dry, dry skin. It truly sucks being dry-skinned :-(
