Interesting episode to say the least. I have to admit it was kind of hilarious to see Emile frantically pacing back and forth with his character while searching for a plate in the maze level, he kind of looked like a chicken with it's head cut off just aimlessly running around. On the topic of the maze level though, when I did my own playthrough of it a couple months ago it was one of my most disliked levels. Not for the difficulty, because achieving 3 stars on it in singleplayer is an easy feat, but from a design perspective I don't consider it to be creative at all. The maze component and the branching paths aren't even that confusing to navigate, it's more of an annoyance rather than a hindrence because like Jon said the confined, narrow paths that only allow 1 person to move across are moreso rage inducing rather than challenging
@@DemonRaticate Actually, I think he would have been very good at this game if given time, and proper management. I believe he is struggling because he believes it to be fast paced, but the game isn't really fast paced, certainly no more than Tetris which he excels at from what I've seen. So he struggles to do anything because he thinks he has less time than he does and isn't sure what he should be doing. This is made worse by the fact that the rest of them are playing solo together, rather than as a team, so Tim's duty tends to be picking up the slack of the others, which runs counterintuitive to his playstyle. He needs to have a defined and consistent job and not doing whatever random things the others are currently forgetting to do. But the rest of them are playing lone wolf thinking that as long as they are doing something then they are playing correct, all the while colliding with the others doing the same thing, leading to moments where they cut up too many of the same food they don't even need and filling valuable space with the useless leftovers. Tim simply needs direction, and so do the others really. I wish one of them opted to just put the controller down and just direct everyone to do a specific job, and tell them when to switch according to level shenanigans, like a boss. But Tom and Jon are clearly being the "boss" player, while ALSO trying to do all the work, so they are saying what needs to be done, while also being too busy to know what is going on outside of what they need. If they swapped jobs with Tim, where Tim is doing the work and either Jon or Tom was the go-fer who did the miscellaneous jobs to pick up slack, while focusing on directing everyone else. If they did that I think this playthrough would have gone very smooth. But as it is, its directionless and chaotic, which works fine for the most part, except Tim suffers the most from that sadly. So basically, its a fine LP, but I feel bad for Tim and I'm worried they are going to ultimately dislike the game because of their own failures.
Kinda what I mean. He needs practice and a bit of knowing what to do before he can really get going. I mean I can applaud him for beating some of the hardest old games like Ninja Gaiden without too much difficulty. Once he maybe tries a stage like 10 times, he’ll be flying through it.

I’m not sure why this level in particular Tim was just so out of it when he was operating pretty normally (or as normal as can be for Tim) before. 8:27 Do you even need to ask? 9 times out of 10 it’s Emile because of the apparently weird way he picks up his controller (gripping it so that he presses the buttons rather than lifting it up from the grips or even the middle of the controller). Bonding over the stern tone of voice teachers develop. Interesting. Also why are there conveyor belts? 11:25 Everyone’s missing things about this map it seems. 13:55 Maybe they shouldn’t have been so lax about/inattentive to the timers...

I'm probably late to the party but I realize now Tim doesn't ever drop things on the floor unless the level is a moving one, like rotating rooms or the two trucks. In some cases it's more convenient, in others it's less, it's just a playstyle thing.
that last level, I'm not sure if it's because I'm a spectator or the game really is that confusing but there were so many ingredients just passed by by all of them like I saw they needed 1 carrot and there was a chopped one right next to it with I think Chugga then there's the mixed up ingredients to make stews no one wanted, what the heck was that performance
They've had that issue the entire game sadly, they will cut up excess food, then fill the counters with them, and then when they need a specific ingredient they still opt to pick something fresh and cut it instead of look around and use the various already cut versions everywhere. This in turn makes the counters a mess and make it much more difficult for them to see anything thus making the issue even worse as time goes on. This is why they always fall apart near the end.

Maybe they should focus on clearing space around the cutting boards and then putting all the pots on the counter that is r shaped right below it, with 1 person doing dishes and 1 moving the pots and then the other 2 finding and cutting all ingredients indiscrimately? That might have been less chaotic, though getting the right ingredients might have been a problem still.

One person used the bottom left pot and the other two switched between doing the bottom right pot and the top pot. I have a feeling quite a few strategies would work.

Of course I say that and then comes the really confusing level! I remember playing this one, it was an experience, to say the least. Yeah, it's the narrow corridors that make these levels even more difficult than they are supposed to be, especially in four, but in three it's already pretty bad.
That maze level is just complete and utter yikes between the limited ingredients that are scattered all over the place and the single file isles which make running each other off pretty much guaranteed.
After getting Overcooked 2 for my birthday and playing through the entire story mode on that same day, I can say with confidence that story mode in this game is harder. Overcooked 2's new game plus on the other hand, oof, big oof.

goodness, I thought some of the other levels were difficult, but the last one in this video looks like a total nightmare for multiplayer especially
