This is a bit of a misconception. Ui does increase goku’s strength. It was just that goku’s opponents far exceeded him in raw power and power efficiency and therefore still didn’t take much damage. When goku counters it hits much harder than ssbkx20. After the ToP goku’s omen state actually is a power boost but not a huge one. This is all highlighted in the kefla fight where he has trouble switching to offense which reduced his attack power heavily. Kefla being massively more durable and packing more power than him, his punches tickled.

Personally, I love the idea of fighting games like this basically having different "weight classes" or power tiers. It would be cool in something like Dragon Ball FighterZ if they had a balanced mode where you could play anyone against anyone, and a separate "Accurate" mode that basically has accurate power scaling where weaker characters don't hold a candle to the stronger ones.

On a point of Scourge, for one, it's pronounced like the word(sc-urge), overall Hyper Scourge, while it never appears in the Archie Comics, it is mentioned that Super Scourge is actually more powerful than Super Sonic, albeit only by a small little bit. Obviously the game is not completely accurate, it looks like it's either in progress of being flushed out or made with a bit of a bias towards which characters they wanted to be better portrayed or just be better. However, in some ways this is actually how I personally love fan games. It's always good to balance a game, especially for official games, but realistically it always does somewhat bother me when you see a god-tier character lose to a basic nobody character. Pinning cream against a Sonic that can turn Super isn't even remotely a contest, but an official balanced games, you have to make it that way. Honestly, like you stated, going from basically a battle of gods to Ray vs Charmy was a big difference, and honestly that's very accurate, as it was a battle of godly beings versus a battle of 6-year-olds, same thing with Marine, arguably. In a fan game, while it comes from bias, you can make characters match the scaling they're supposed to be it. Realistically, if you could be multiple characters in a Sonic game, playing Sonic is basically easy mode, because you can breeze through everything easier than with every other character, and while it is somewhat broken, I love that because it is technically more accurate. Though, obviously the size of character sprites is an issue, and one I honestly don't know how they came across such an easy fixable issue. I'm not saying this game is accurate, the point about Scourge seems to make that at least minimalistically obvious, but the style of game that does that I think opens it for more accuracy. Great game nonetheless, beautiful Sprite work, decent artwork, mostly awesome movesets, interesting choice of OCs, and clearly a lot of thought and hard work went into it. It definitely needs work, and technically does go buy a lot of bias or characters that didn't get effort and others favoritism, but for what it is it's honestly a really awesome game. I even love the crossover references, funky as they may be.

This is my introduction to Mugen, I've been aware of it being a custom-fighting-game system for a while now but never really dove into it. I'm a massive sonic fan and thought I'd give this one a shot. and I can tell right now that I need some *help*. I've got the game running just fine, but have no idea how to play the characters. Is there a tutorial? What inputs do what? A move list I can read? a pause button of any sort? I'm a fair bit lost right now and quick google search did not help me.

Taonic, Hyper Scourge, along with all the Fase 4 characters (Sonic, Shadow, Silver) are all fan made.
