Henry is a teenager now... I was a teenager when I discovered vlogbrothers and watched this video for the first time. Sometimes I forget how fast time passes.
I never got around to going through the back catalogue. The algorithm just decided to show me this today! John looks so young and carefree compared to today!
PS this video is only 143 views away from 1 Million! I've never seen one be this close to that milestone before. Someone very soon is going to be the 1 millionth!
This is one of few videos on TH-cam where a guy talks positively about how having a baby has changed his life. There are a lot of videos of Dads having wonderful moments with their kids but very few where they recount past and present experiences in a positive light.
My ultimate concern is my brother, I would die for him. But more importantly I would live for him, I would live in the worst conditions imaginable to ensure his happiness.
Checking in from ten years in the future, although I've checked in several times since this video was originally posted, to report that Henry (above baby) is ten now and that's a little mind-blowing.
Seeing this for the first time as I sit with my eight week old. "robot need -filler" feels exactly right. It's crazy that Henry is already a teenager. I know these baby days will pass so quickly.
Am I the only one who looked at Henry the whole video and didn't listen to a word john said! It's very out of character but Henry is so gosh darn cute.
Decided to come back and watch this video because it's Fathers' Day and apparently I'm masochistic. I'm so glad that there are fathers like you out there. Henry and Alice are very lucky kids.
Maybe legacy. It's something I think about all the time and defines a lot of my actions. When I have a kid they will likely become my entire universe. I will likely not be a helicopter parent... more like a death star parent or at minimum a drone parent... lol
As I keep rewatching old vlogbrothers video, I just feel like this is such a question to keep pondering over a few times a few years. Right now, I feel like my ultimate concern, or what I would die for or fight for, is still my own survival. And I kinda wanna ponder further on that, why is that my ultimate concern for a full-grown adult, why isn't it the survival of my best friend or my younger brother whom I admire so much? I just feel like now is a good time to ponder over this once again.
What a coincidence. This video and Hank's following video were posted the day before and the day after my tenth birthday, respectively. It discourages me that there was no vlogbrothers video on the day I reached the second digit in age, but does the reverse in the fact that the end of the first decade of my life fell exactly between two videos made by two of history's greatest nerds.
But you just stated Henry's Ultimate concern. Himself. Henry as a self absorbed baby would do anything in his ability to stay alive. But, as a baby all his abilities are are pooping, laughing, and crying
I used to watch your crash course vids and I use them when I tutor others. I found these videos recently and they are helping me get through not seeing my son for weeks at a time.. He is 17 months and I miss him a lot. You guys remind me of me and my boy, Thomas so I watch these once in a while and it makes me feel alright. Thanks for posting.
I think that my ultimate concern would probably be my little brother. I've taken care of him a lot and since I am the firstborn, I felt/feel it my duty to protect him from the things my parents did to me that ultimately messed me up/are still messing me up :)
I understand the idea of caring for one person. I have a little brother who was born a week or 2 after Henry same year. Since the first time I laid eyes on him, I will always care for him. We are 11 years apart and he can hurt me I love him. Any time he is sick or sad. I feel sad because all I want for him is to be happy and healthy.
Okay, Henry is the most adorable baby I have ever seen. Like, I don't like children or babies and don't plan on having any, but when I'm looking at Henry, I seriously consider changing my mind on the off chance I get one that cute. SO FREAKING ADORABLE!!!
this is the luckies boy in the world to have a daddy like you. your face has always been bright with passion for the ideas you express in your vlogs. but your face in this vid shines with love for your boy. it made me happy to watch.
My Ultimate Concern is that I do something to have a net positive impact on the world, no matter how small. Or at least a neutral impact. Very very important to me.
My ultimate concern, like you, is my wife and baby son. And you are 100% correct that poopy diapers are just part of the gig, and I don't mind them one bit.
Notice how much Henry looks into the camera at the beginning of the video. He's a natural even that early on! And thank you so much for including all of us nerd fighters in your life and Henry's - he's so adorable.
The way that John looks at Henry is probably one of the most adorable things that I have ever seen. With that look alone, there is no questioning his love for that baby.
I love that all the comments on the first page of the comments section are not about that person's ultimate concern, but how gosh darn cute baby Henry was. Also, I don't think anyone should have an ULTIMATE concern but balance several important concerns in both their personal lives and their community and their world.
FYI I learned this great trick from the NICU nurses about keeping a baby diapered at all times during a diaper change. You layer the clean one under the dirty one so if the baby starts to go during the change you just cover it up.
Just slide the new diaper underneath the old diaper, parfait style. Then, when you remove the old diaper, the new diaper will be there waiting and ready. Holla.
I think I could die happy if John always had his head that close to little baby Henry (too bad Henry doesn't stay that small). It is SO epically CUTE!!! It is indeed a cute overload! I need to watch this video again...
When my sister was born my mom taught me and my 4 other sisters a trick to changing diapers. Slip the back of the diaper under the booty, then open the dirty for access to dirty region, grab the little baby legs with one hand and grab wipes, and wipe the dirty area with the other (make sure the booty is ALL clean). While still holding the legs, and baby butt is suspended, remove dirty diaper. Put all of the dirty wet wipes in said diaper and throw away. Powder, then close. THIS Minimizes PEEPEE ACCIDENTS ON CARPET AND BODY AND ALSO POOPOO ACCIDENTS OUTSIDE DIAPER. If the baby is about to poop remove the dirty diaper SUPER FAST and lift the already available ready-to-close diaper over the booty and nono and TADA! no accident outside of diaper. :D hope you see this John or anyone who gets shit on them alot. HEH
Its interesting that you ask all these questions about ultimate concern (and I think its worth while thinking about them), but the thing is: I don't think we have much of a choice. If cou are concerned about a person (or anything else), you are, and most of the time you can't change it for the world. At this point in life for example my brother is that to me, I could not bare losing him, I would probably just end myself. But it also nice to love somebody in this wired world that much.
John, Hank and the rest of my Nerdy friends, I once has a friend named Iris, and she tried to commit suicide, she lives halfway across the country from me and I don't even know if she's alive anymore. Iris is my ultimate concern and I hope to find her and let her know she is important. Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.
John, I don't think anyone heard a word you said the first time around. I feel like I'm probably not the only one who was way more interested in watching adorable baby Henry be adorable.
so what if when henry is older, he watches this video, then gives John a pacifier for his birthday or whenever.
That would be hilarious
Henry, if you ever read this comment, you HAVE to do this.
Please do this Henry please
oh my god yes

type "bratja fma" into the youtube search bar.
I would die for my sister too, she deserves to live more than me. She is 2 years 33 weeks and 5 days younger than me and has so much left to learn.

This started playing on my roku right after the most recent video about Hank's baby and I can't handle all this adorable!

Welcome to the Club Bruh
Yes exactly.😂😂
Ricky Hanselstone Club Bruh: Where men are manly enough to admit babies are cute.
It is so weird that we don't remember anything from when we were infants
Wow. This video means that Henry is TEN YEARS OLD now.
I have still been imagining him in my head as a toddler. WHAT. Where has the time gone.
There really should be a channel called vlogadorablebaby.
I believe, that at many points of our lives, we all need to be nomed by are loved ones. nomnomnomnom
Awww! The whole family is adorable! John, Henry and the little Westie!
Decided to come back and watch this video because it's Fathers' Day and apparently I'm masochistic.
I'm so glad that there are fathers like you out there. Henry and Alice are very lucky kids.
I have many ultimate concerns (which does defeat the purpose of the singular 'ultimate'): one I am driven by, but never would I kill for.
"Did you just punch me in the face on purpose?!" So funny
Maybe legacy. It's something I think about all the time and defines a lot of my actions. When I have a kid they will likely become my entire universe. I will likely not be a helicopter parent... more like a death star parent or at minimum a drone parent... lol
I hope some day, when Henry can go shopping on his own, I hope when that day comes, Henry goes out and gets you your much desired pacifier.
As I keep rewatching old vlogbrothers video, I just feel like this is such a question to keep pondering over a few times a few years. my heart can't handle how cute this is on basically every level. Like watching John in dad mode with his adorable son.... i have feelings.
Goddamn it henry bite the finger

Your language is pretty well developed relative to other ten-year-olds I've known, gg.

ohhhhh. wow. that's right. wow..
That kid will have the most entertaining childhood.
When John was talking about his ultimate concern, and Henry, he was tearing up, and it made me want to hug my dad.
He's a precious little one, hope he grows up to become an amazing person
I hope that one day Henry will purchase, wrap up, and gift his father with a pacifier.
Henry is so going to play this video at John's 50th birthday party.
But you just stated Henry's Ultimate concern. Himself. Henry as a self absorbed baby would do anything in his ability to stay alive. But, as a baby all his abilities are are pooping, laughing, and crying

"Henry like his father wears pajamas until well into the afternoon" I love how casually he said that I died
This baby is now 10 years old
GOSH IS HE CUTE
is he? hardly objective. to a human the answer is undoubtedly yes. Though other animals may not agree so much. lol
*tilts head awkwardly to the side* wat?
"Wat"? What does "wat" mean? lol
there is a meme on the internet just google it.
No.

This baby is 11 years old now!
That moment when you realize Henry is almost 7 years old now and you just can not fathom how much time has passed
Rosie Jean he’s almost 10 years old now i think, my brain refuses to comprehend it
And now he's a teenager 🥹
Auugh! My ovaries! They've exploded. Too much father/son cuteness.
I love how Henry keeps tangling his fingers in the puff : )
this is the luckies boy in the world to have a daddy like you. your face has always been bright with passion for the ideas you express in your vlogs. but your face in this vid shines with love for your boy. it made me happy to watch.
James and baby Harry :D
My Ultimate Concern is that I do something to have a net positive impact on the world, no matter how small. Or at least a neutral impact. Very very important to me.
Mine is my little brother. We're 6 years apart, but he is my life. I love him so much.
TheSnowy3457 aww mine is also my little brother we're 12 years apart sometimes he mistakes and calls me mama lol
When you nommed him, all that went through my mind was...
THAT IS SO FREAKIN' ADORABLE I DON'T EVEN--
henry is precious, and john interacting with henry is just as precious. he looks like an incredible father.
My ultimate concern, like you, is my wife and baby son. And you are 100% correct that poopy diapers are just part of the gig, and I don't mind them one bit.
Don't worry John when you get to be an old man is when Henry will return the favor and change your diapers as well as fulfilling your other needs. ;)

And the pacifier will be a cold beer.
OMG I'm pretty sure Henry was the most adorable baby on the planet!
Notice how much Henry looks into the camera at the beginning of the video. He's a natural even that early on!
And thank you so much for including all of us nerd fighters in your life and Henry's - he's so adorable.
"Did you just punch me in the face on purpose?" Am I the only one who is laughing so much I'm freaking people out
vlog adorable baby. Sounds like you have a new vlog name.
Henry is 10 years old now 😭😭
I would like to hold it. You're such a great dad, John
The way that John looks at Henry is probably one of the most adorable things that I have ever seen. With that look alone, there is no questioning his love for that baby.
My daughter is my ultimate concern
My ultimate concern is loving my neighbor as myself.
I really hope that one day when Henry is older he sees this and goes and buys John a pacifier
I love that all the comments on the first page of the comments section are not about that person's ultimate concern, but how gosh darn cute baby Henry was.
Also, I don't think anyone should have an ULTIMATE concern but balance several important concerns in both their personal lives and their community and their world.
What I find most important is the increasement of understanding, whether that be of the universe, each other, or why babies are so damn adorable.
Henry doesn't blink either!!!
"THANKS BUD I APPRECIATE THE MARKETING" LOLOLOLOLOL
HENRY IS 10, NOW? 😮😮😮😮
FYI I learned this great trick from the NICU nurses about keeping a baby diapered at all times during a diaper change. You layer the clean one under the dirty one so if the baby starts to go during the change you just cover it up.
That is HONESTLY THE MOST ADORABLE baby I have ever seen. You make beautiful people! Congratulations.
I feel like Hank needs to re-watch these videos to get some baby advice right now.
Just slide the new diaper underneath the old diaper, parfait style. Then, when you remove the old diaper, the new diaper will be there waiting and ready. Holla.
You, my friend, are a genius
My ultimate concern is THAT THERE ARE ACTUAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO DON'T LIKE CHOCOLATE
in this rare and special video john asks real questions to real nerd-fighters.
I think I could die happy if John always had his head that close to little baby Henry (too bad Henry doesn't stay that small). It is SO epically CUTE!!! It is indeed a cute overload!
I need to watch this video again...
I have to say, i didn't really hear much of what john said in this video. I was too busy observing infancy in its many splendored awkwardness...
HENRY OH Y GOD
SORRY HOLD UP HENRY IS 11 NOW?!?!?!
My family is my ultimate concern. It's always been and always will be. I thank my mother for making me a good person.
If I didn't already have such an amazing Dad, I must agree that John would be an AWESOME father!
HARRY AND JAMES
You might consider the idea of VlogAdorablebaby. It doesn't sound that bad to me...
When my sister was born my mom taught me and my 4 other sisters a trick to changing diapers. comprehend, John. It's 'comprehend'... and only 6 years too late
TOO MUCH CUTE!!!! Cutest little nerdfighter, and he's so much bigger now! Now, he's a proper functional human being xx
John, I don't think anyone heard a word you said the first time around. I feel like I'm probably not the only one who was way more interested in watching adorable baby Henry be adorable.
Sorry I was just paying attention to Henry :p
