The watch is great, well, looking at the price tag, and comparing it to its competitor, Polar, whom had just released the new Grit X Pro Amoled that is circa 250 more? Then again, for runners, the most important thing we are looking for will be its accurateness, whether it may be from the SPO2 to the heart rate and the GPS navigation. There's only one company that is in this realm, well, from my pov... Garmin. They do have a whole nine yards range of watches that can compete with this, in terms of features and accurateness. But for the aesthetics and beauty, Suunto really knocks out all the competitors out there :)
I had been using the Garmin FR series for 7 years. It was time for a new one because the battery only lasted a day. Unfortunately, I did not find anything similar to Suunto Race in Garmin's large range (considering price performance). I am very happy with SR.
by the 4 min mark you have coreved pretty much all i needed to hear, accurate and easy maps, offline. cant wait what the negatives are. thank you for the video.
I just got the Race Sunnto a beautiful looking watch I'm going to test it for a while to see if I'll keep it. Thanks for review excellent review actually i might return it 😂
Great review, I have been testing this watch out in Florida and its doing great. Super light weight feel and the battery life feels never ending. Can track well in thick tree canopy. Just make sure the maps are downloaded, it can take sometime to upload. Will be taking it west this spring and summer for a few 50k's.
thanks for the review! I'm between this one and the coros pace 3... it really seems like the Race has some real hr issues but the materials are so good and back in the Seiko era it was unthinkable to not get a saphire lens for a 200$+ watch! maybe the maps are a bit of a redundant luxury, since the pace also has breadcrumb and a route planner... I just worry about the bloody durability, even though I'd probably baby the watch anyway haha
I think the metrics of the watch and the data from the Suunto app are sufficient and meaningful. However, the watch interfaces should be improved because the watch faces are limited and not very good. Some features should be added. For example, I want the watch to vibrate when the heart rate zone changes. This way, I won't need to rely on the voice prompts from the Suunto app because I usually listen to music while running.
First let me say what a great review!! I'm looking to buy one, do you know if it has indoor rowing activity that tracks stoke count and measures distance.
Great review! It was super entertaining. I've been considering switching from a Garmin Fenix. The navigation seemed very appealing. However, after watching your review, I'm leaning towards getting a Coros Pace 3 instead.
@@struanmills5710 I got the Corus Pace 3 super happy with it. Everything runs smoothly, and the aesthetic is on point. I recommend the white nylon band. Btw, nice profile picture, looks like a Caspar David Friedrich painting.

@@nomadgamedev Thanks on both accounts. How do you find the navigation on the Pace 3? Keep wondering if the higher price of the Sunnto is worth the extra navigation features or not. I do quite a lot of hiking off trails (as well as various kids of running) thus navigation is very important for me.
Very nice amoled screen!!!actually the best amoled screen in my opinion but for me that is where it starts and ends..i used the titanium version and sold it after a month and is using a garmin epix gen 2 which feels better on my wrist..The suunto race just felt too heavey on my wrist and i struggeld to sleep with it on wrist Wished suunto could have slimmed it down a bit Just my opinion👍🏻
The Stress recovery tools are amazing on the Suunto, you're not juste familiar with it, afraid of learning ? You have to activate the Sleep Tracker option in the watch. The lock bottom for hold 3 seconds has been there for ever at Suunto and it's amazing totally NOT annoying, it's super practical and it's a Suunto pearks. Jackets or glove or ... will not stop your watch for no reason will running.
It’s a decent watch and build quality is excellent. Software less so and I agree regarding the metrics for an experienced runner or gym goer it is excellent but for beginners to mid range runners it may be overkill and less accessible
On the WHR - it baffles the mind why Suunto would use the same WHT as the Vertical when they KNOW that it is a problem - I have a Sunnto 9 Baro - for me, the WHR sucks - I must use a strap.
I have the Vertical it's battery lasts longer than the race and the vertical can connect to more gps sattelites simutaniously that means even more super accurate navigation. You can customize the Vertical in some navigation modes but not the race and with the november 2023 major update the vertical received all the features the race has.. i am Super satisfied with the Suunto Vertical .....the Race has a Amoled screen though
@@JohanHenning82 thanks I appreciate the help. I’m really interested in the mapping features. I’m leaning towards the Vertical because it looks like when you’re using the maps you wouldn’t have to keep twisting your wrist to see the maps.
Thanks for the high quality review, i really got a good look at the watch
Great to hear!
Nice review to watch! Also very informative regarding pros and cons (info that even DCR does not mention!)
Thanks! Really appreciated!

Well done review! Excellent editing! Would have loved to see more of their app / online platform.

Cool watch. I just wish it was a tad bit smaller. I have the 9 peak pro and love the size.

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your comment!
Hey why did you give it a negative for no HR over tattoos when there isnt a single watch on the market that can?!
I have not any tattoos.
It is your specific problem, if you have tattoo on the wrist
You make no sense lol No watch should be penalized for not being able to work on tattoos since the technology does not currently exist @@MSkachenite
Excellent review and very engaging presenter - thank you!
Good job. Grettings from Barcelona
Have you checked it after the resent new up dates. Is it any better?

suunto has never been good at HR measure, just fix it with heart trap
il n'y a pas que suunto en défaut de fiabilité
Great Review. Just curious why you wear your watch under your wrist? Never seen that before?
Wrist tattoos interfere with HR readings...

Which watch did you get? Coros Pace 3 or Suunto Race? I’m currently deciding between these two. Thanks.

You again 👍🏻
haha you again too :)
Is it possible that stress measure is related to HRV? It appears to be the case for Garmin Fenix 5X.
I'm not sure. What makes you think that?
So the question is - Race or Vantage? :D overall
Great review, thanks, although you always seem stressed when you talk ;)

Have you used the Suunto Vertical? If so, how do you feel it compares to the Race?
Not yet, no. We buy all watches with our own money, so we need to pace the buying and alternating brands every month....
@@Runningshoesgurucom ok, that makes sense. Thanks

OMG I love hidden gem youtube channels - straight to the point. excellent precision brilliant
Thanks, you made our day!
I was really considering it, but the size really bothers me. 49mm watch looks stupid on the small hands.
Where is the review?
www.runningshoesguru.com/reviews/gps/suunto-race-review/
Compare this to Garmin 165 which one is better
We just got the 165 in for testing - stay tuned review will come at the end of the month
better than apple watch?
for running, sure
So laggy user interface...😢
girllllll chilllllllllll you are so stressed 😹
It's weird but i get no inconsistencies with sleep tracking, recovery and stuff.
I haven't had any problems either.
