I love the psychology of this scene. Before, they were a cohesive mob. After Jesus said, "whoever is without sin", suddenly they became a group of individuals. No individual person wanted to claim to be sin free. A beautiful scene, filled with such wisdom on Christ's part.

@xerxessantors Okay, sooo, watch this and explain this scripture. John 17:22. Jesus is on the cross praying to God for the congregation and he says, " I have given them the glory that you have given me, so that they may be one just as you and I are one." Does that mean that the congregation is God too?? Because they are one just as he and the Father are one too. No! They are not God, too. What it means when they say that he and the Father are one is that they are united or in unison together with the way they think and act. And if that's what it means here at 17:22. It's also what it means at John 10:30, too, because you can't say that it means something at one scripture and then change what it means at another scripture. Good luck to you. Keep reading and asking, and it will be given to you. Thanks

This Scene was meant by Lord Jesus Christ of Judging/condemning..passing judgement to another. However, pointing to your neighbor that he is sinning and that he should repent and change his lifestyle is not judging. Its guiding others to see " light". And it's Christian's duty to guide souls who are living in darkness back to the light. 'Not judging' is not the same as 'tolerating' one's wickedness. If some one is gossiping/doing any wickedness or immorality , a child of God, should correct it. It should be done in loving and gentle way, not in a harsh way. Do not be cruel to our brethren who are sinning. We should remember that we could be on the same situation. It is not judging. The problem with people and nowadays society, they dont want anybody to point out their mistake, they would say its judging. So what these people wanted? just to 'mind your own business' thing and tolerate what they are doing?! People are using Bible verses for their personal evil agenda. Saying that we are not allowed to judge, its in the Bible. Oh come one?! Are these people do not know the difference between judging/condemnation vs rebuking/correcting?! Seeing evil in their midst, the children of God should open up their mouth, and opposed it. If not, God would charge them as partakers of evil deeds of their neighbor. However, correcting neighbor is not enforcing, but reminding and encouraging to stop the wickedness of their doing.

What a lot of people don't know about in this story of the bible is deeper than the obvious.
I will not explain the part most understand, but I will say that there was a jewish law handed down by Moses that for certain sins or crimes like repeat stealing, blasphemy and adultery were stoning offences by God's old Mosaic law.
However there were rules once a sentence of stoning is served. Like who can take part in that particular stoning.
Now if the offence was blasphemy any one who has ever been tried for blasphemy in the past, even if he has been proved innocent or even worse not enough evidence was found to be sure of the person's guilt.
The law states that person, in the future cannot take part in judging and help carrying out the sentence in Any blasphemy case ever. Only other cases.
Now in this story the woman is charged with adultery as was a prostitute and was caught in the act. Now alot of Jews slept with prostitutes at these days, even if it was done quietly and in secret.
The Jewish priests also but they paid higher for a more discreet service so many of their flock didn't even know, Jesus knew that the majority of the stoning crowd (priest's included) were adulterers which in God's eyes would make them all disqualified in taking part in the stoning. Jesus knew that the priest were trying to trap Jesus in asking should he ignore Moses law given by God or not
Jesus knowing all. Their minds, said “he without sin cast the first stone” is saying you will your hide your guilty adulterous crime so far as to comit murder to show how much you love God's law. That's why no one dare throw a stone as to incur God's wrath one day. Rather than take the chance, no one man or priest dare cast a stone.
Further more. Like a reader correctly states “ Why didn't Jesus cast a stone as he WAS sinless?
Jesus came to save not to condem therefore he said to the women “ they are gone they don't condemn you, nor do I. Go your way and sin no more” Jesus was ultimate in wisdom.
All praises to father & son

@@mikekenyon8483 I was one of them, I always felt the same until it was explained to me. There are many such stories in the bible that people get wrong or miss the bigger meaning, but I just think it's shows the wisdom of the almighty.
The bible is a book for life and generations to be studied not to be picked up read and then believe that " I know that book or books."
But it can be studied over and over, and in time, the hidden is revealed. Thank you, Mike, keep reading, bless .🙏

@thelonewolf498 The Bible never ever says he's God in the flesh. Stop spreading that lie that your religion is trying to make it true. And three are one, not three in one. Is pagan in origin. Even the Babylonians (the first pagans) had trinities of God's as did the Egyptians, and you see how well that worked out for them, don't you?? Yeah, not so good. And do you even know anything about what the trinity doctrine states?? What it's meaning is?? It means that all three are all-knowing and all three are equal. Sooo let's take a look at this and see if it's true. Marl 13:32 Jesus said, "Heaven and earth are passing away, but my words will by no means pass away. Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, Not the Angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Sooooo here Jesus just said that he doesn't know when Heaven and earth are passing away. Sooo if he's part of the God Almighty then why wouldn't he know when Heaven and earth were passing away. You'd think that would be something the Almighty God would know, wouldn't you?? Soo that puts a big hole in your all-knowing thing and now let's see if they are equal. Jesus said at John 14:28 If you loved me you'd rejoice that I go to the Father for the Father is Greater than I am. Huh!! That's pretty much a direct hit for that trinity crap right there. And I don't care what Paul or anyone else says about Jesus. I only care about what Jesus says about himself. And so should you.

This shouldn't be read and interpreted as "sin as you please," though which is the way most people interpret it. Nor does it apply to moral judgement as he told the woman she had committed sin and not to do it again. We are allowed to morally judge if done from a place of love. And we are allowed to be righteously angry at sinful practices as these are the acts that pull a brother or sister into sin.

I thank Adonai Yahweh for His mercy shown in His Son, the Son of God. Because of this I have the comfort of my soul that on the day of judgment Adonai Yahweh, my God, and his Son will be the son of man to plead & justify the sins that I have committed before the face of Yahweh, my God.

That~s Jesus, the revealed real image of God. Not Yahweh, and his law of stoning people. Wake up Christrians, Jesus came to save us from this evil law, from the ruler of this world , the devil. No one can fulfill this evil law, so everyone is sprittually dead. Jesus came to give us eternal spiritual life.

Sin is an imaginary state of mind imposed by "higher authorities" who think that they are better than we are. Yes we all make mistakes, but thats how we learn, but sin ? No we don't need it.

While it may seem like Jesus is saying that who has never sinned should cast the first stone, that is not what he is talking about. Many want to make this story be about forgiveness as well, however, that is not what the story is about. The scribes and Pharisees were always trying to trap him in the law. Here are two other examples; is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath? This story is no different. According to the Law of Moses, both the man and woman caught in the act of adultery were to be stoned. However, because the scribes and Pharisees only brought the woman to be stoned, they were wrong in this matter. Thus when Jesus says, "whosever is without sin let him cast the first stone", Jesus is saying that whoever is without sin in this matter, let him cast the fist stone. However, because they did not have the man with them to be stoned, they sinned in this matter because both the man and the woman were to be stoned.
Later on when he states that he does not condemn the woman, he means that he does not condemn her in this matter. Because the man which committed adultery with her was not there with her, Jesus had no proof to condemn of her adultery, thus he could not stone her.
Also when he says go and sin no more, he means don't commit adultery any more.
If you read all of this, let me know what you think (what you agree with, what you don't agree with). God bless you and may God be glorified!

I have no scriptural basis for this, but I have always thought that what Christ wrote in the dust was seen by each of the men in the crowd as the name(s) or some reference to whichever woman or women with whom they had fornicated/committed adultery.

But the first stone IS thrown by “he who is without sin” for the stoning process is begun by the two witnesses to the crime who place their hands on the culprit to allow their sins and the sins of the crowd to pass into him or her who is about to die. Clearly the gospel writers do not know Judaism.
