I found a box of pyrethrin/powder that had been sitting on the shelf for probably 5 years. I just sprinkled it dry on the earth to kill fungus gnats and it worked great. I used a VERY small amount, probably less than 2 grams. Didn't notice any issue with potency/degradation.
@@ScienceinHydroponicso I’ve waited patiently to think of a great question to ask for a video. Hydroponic nutrient solution ratios and their impacts to physiology of the plant. For example being how N:K is good indicator of vegetative and generative growth. Another example is perhaps K:Ca and balancing cation imbalances by environmental factors, for instance a greenhouse that uses evaporative coolin. The humidity from the wet wall of the greenhouse is different than the opposite end of the greenhouse.
Good info, thank you. I`m use neem oil previously(without pyrethrins). And I had a very bad results for pest control. After using boeveria and thuringiensis doesn`t need neem etc. anymore
Hi Daniel, can you please make a video about enzymes if you have any knowledge about them. I was recently looking to purchase a product( hygrozime to be exact) and on its label it says Cellulase 1000 u/ml which converted to mg/ml is a ridiculously small amount but the product works very good which I've have seen with my eyes on my friends hydroponic plants but there's other products like RAW enzymes from NPK Industries and others which come in a powder form with no fillings that offer a better bang for your buck. Can you please give us your thoughts on the matter if you have any experience with similar products, thank you and keep the videos coming ✌
THANKYOU very much Sir for doing this, very good informative video, one small doubt Sir, can we mix pyrithrine products with micronutrients, abd one more can we extract pyrithrine from chrysanthemum in farmer level Sir
Normally it's best not to mix pyrethrins with other products since they can be chemically sensitive. There are a few exceptions, but as a general rule try to apply them by themselves.
@@ScienceinHydroponics thanks for Replying and suggestion Sir, can you message us those exception if possible Sir What about chrysanthemum tea( soaked in water for few days) for control of pest Sir
Pyrethrins have been used successfully to control ticks. Pyrethrins are also highly toxic to honey bees but degrade quickly. This is why it is best to apply at night, so that honey bees are less affected.
Hi Daniel, love this channel. Can pyrethrins be used in organic gardening? Also if you think it’s a worthy topic. A video would be great on more in depth relationships between E.C and volume of media. For example when I have plants in veg my e.c just drops massively, and even if I up the strength of the nutrient solution it still happens until I enter a bloom phase then it seems to be more stable. I think it maybe because I’m staying in small pots. But yeah it’s something I can’t quite grasp with what is going on. Thanks, I’ve only just found this channel and I’ve learned so much in two days!
Hi, we’re using insecticide with pyrethroids in our raw materials used in aquatic feed production. Is it still have toxicity or can affect fish after process of cooking/extruding? Thanks a lot!
Skip the harsh chemicals! Silica gel or another desiccant powder can be a great indoor pest control option. Here's why: Safe for you and your family: Unlike pyrethroids, silica gel is non-toxic to humans and pets (when used as directed). Effective pest control: The powder sticks to insects' bodies, drying them out (dehydration) which leads to their death within hours or days. How to use it: Grind desiccant packets (like the ones you find in shoeboxes) into a fine powder. Carefully spread the powder in areas where you've seen pests (avoiding contact with food prep areas and out of reach of children and pets).
Been interested in this for a long time, but it's far from a priority. I'll have to remember and save this video.
Thanks.

Great work. Some controversy about pyrethrums. But I think it stems from a lack of understanding and misuse. Thanks for the clarifications.
Awesome video Daniel. Shared on all my socials!
Thanks for sharing!! Do let me know if you have any suggestions for future videos you would like to see.

Neem is not a contact pesticide, so it's commonly much less effective compared to pyrethrins. Especially when controlling large pest populations.
Thanks for the information 👍
No problem 👍

Can this be used outside to control ticks? Is it toxic to honey bees?

Is there a video with that guitar being played?
Hahah, perhaps one day there will be!

Yes, they can be used. Products like pyganic are approved for use in organic cultivation. Also, thanks a lot for your video suggestion!
i can't find #567 Pyrethrin & insecticidal soap concentrate. How can I get this?

dont use pyrethroids in any aquatic production please.
Can I use it in hydroponics with fish and aquatic plants?
No, this is likely to be toxic to the fish.
Hi Daniel, have you found pyrethrins to be effective against armored scale insects?
I have thankfully never had the pleasure to do the test!
Had a friend say his insecticide (Onslaught and Patrol) killed their tomato plants. Is this true?
Can a pyrethrum kill other plants?
Good information sir....

Gamma cyhalothrin. Micro capsules aka Vantex
