I'm Julia, a contemporary singing specialist based on Australia! Today's video will be a react to Filipino vocalist Morissette Amon performing Rise Up.
there are times within this video that my autofocus decided that it too couldn't handle Morissette's voice but this does not occur when I'm breaking things down! I hope you still enjoy the video!
oh! also, I noticed that I am mouthing the words at times. I've heard the Andra Day version previously so while this isn't a first time listen to the song it is a first time listen to Morissette singing it!

This woman could sing the phone book in her sleep and I would still want to listen. Her live performance of "Akin Ka Na Lang" on the Wish 107.5 bus was even more amazing. It brings me to tears every time I hear it. Truly a gifted artist.

The squeaks was actually "Intentional Vocal Break". You can hear it on the other songs clearly. Some IVB(intentional vocal break) of her is higher like the one from her secret love song in Asia's song festival.
that's one of the things people love about morissette, even if she is sick, or even if she loses her voice before a performance or concert she never cancels a show. she tells the audience whats going on and realizes that her fans her supporters went through the trouble of coming all the way to see her and she will still give the best performance possible and everyone will understand that that is why she is loved by many if not millions who know her through her music she is a True born artist

That's the singing style of Morisette. The squeaks that you mentioned are really transitions and part of her signature. The fact that she's singing this song seated is just out of this world. I'm not a singer myself. But I appreciate and know when I hear a splendid voice no matter the language used. By the way her last name is pronounced like the "A" in mama. I appreciate your style in reacting that you try to listen first and not reacting while the singer is singing and doing it in considerable breaks. For me it makes the reaction video much more refined.

She is one of the most versatile singers in the world today; she can sing any musical genre with ease and aplomb! Besides the intentional vocal breaks (squeaks to some) you hear, she also is able to do whistle notes and her whistles are out of this world. (Mariah Carey is her musical influence and inspiration.) She is probably one of the very few who can whistle while her mouth is closed! Her musical landscape ranges and includes rock/soul/motown/R&B/pop/ballad/Disney/Broadway/worship or gospel/country/rap/jazz. I call her a musical chameleon because she changes her tone, resonance, her techniques etc depending on the sing she is singing at the moment. Besides her ability to play the piano and guitar, Morissette is also an excellent dancer, a total entertainer and performer, a TV host and personality attributed to her fluency in speaking English! In real life, Mori (her nickname) is down-to-earth, smart, witty, funny and extremely un-diva! God had been generous to Morissette, I'd say with all the talents she's got.
