I can't believe I've never heard of this voyage! They were so well prepared and outfitted, so successful. They didn't accomplish what they set out to do, but they were still very successful. They did everything right.
I was in Fram and it was beyond impressive. Beatifully engineered ship! One of the most memorable moments was "Freezing cold polar simulator" room aka Mummy museum. I didn´t know what to expect and to this day I don´t know HOW should I interpret whole scene. Two sailors in bunk bed. One seemed to be sleeping after dinner, while other had gangerene, milky white irises and some sort of pox. I think those WERE the mummies and what the rescuers/boarding party must experienced after discovering icy tomb (or ghost ship). Then again, they could be just sleeping. No description, not many mentions around internet...nothing. One of those mysteries, I guess. It was eerie and stuck with me till this day.

It's hard to tell, but those expeditions were clearly a great challenge for these sailors.
