@@andrewdonohue1853I would have to strongly disagree with you on this subject. I’ve owned several different brands, including Dyson, and I after owning a shark I will never go back to any other brand until they significantly improve beyond what shark has produced. If you’re going to purchase one, you should definitely spend the extra money for a top tier model though

My dog has 1 to 1 1/2in stiffer short hair that seems to weave itself in the rugs and a couch. Have a Shark and it cannot get these hairs especially on the couch. Their hoses are like using exercise bands, you have to hold the unit with one hand and pull the attachment to the floor or furniture its quite the workout and makes using it even more a chore.

My mother had the purple shark. Honestly, I'd recommend this vacuum based purely on its performance after how my mother treats it. She's had it I'd guess for over five years and it's been emptied maybe five times, mostly by me. She never cleans it's, never de hairs the rollar. But the machine is just as powerful as when it came out the box. I'm really impressed with how long and well the vacuum has worked and if my lazy cow mother actually cleaned it once a year it'd be even more powerful

The Shark ZU62 is the latest Navigator Pet with Zero-M.
A cheaper option is the ZU60, a Walmart-only model. It's nearly identical but comes with 2 instead of 3 tools, and the tools look of lesser quality. BUT, if you only care about the performance, the 3X dust cup, and the zero-m tech it can be had for a 229 every-day price.

Hands down best vacuum I've owned it leaves my hardwood shinny like its been buffed.. Its an upright/ canister all in one perfect for a full house cleaning vs a bulky over hyped Dyson I once owned.. 🙄 That thing was just uncessarly bulky and I couldn't even get under the highest coffee tables with that thing. 😡

First of all, you need plush carpet more like you would find in your standard livingroom. Secondly, most times the hair we are trying to remove has been there for a few days being walked on. The problem with all of these vacuums is that they are tested in a controlled environment much like what i see in your video. Bring those vacuums to my house and see how they really work. Otherwise this is just something to do. Not a real show of how well these appliance's work

  • @VacMaster1991
    @VacMaster1991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

The real test is will hair get stuck in the brush roll caps or in the bearings. Does hair clog up the shroud, cyclone or filters. Or does hair get stuck in the bin and require reaching up and pulling it out. Hair on the brush is the least of your worries and easy to remove. I have had more than one vacuum that did great on hair but I later found hair clogging up the brush roll caps and bearings. Or a filter and cyclone clogged up with pet hair. Plus how well the machine does on surface hair is insignificant compared to how it does on deep down hair embedded in carpet fibers.

I’m disappointed to say after 11 months of use in a home with 2 dogs and kids the front roller stopped working and Shark has informed me that this part isn’t covered under warranty and would cost over $125 with shipping to replace. Just so you know as a pet owner I am a fan of Shark. However when I bought the zero M duo the one with orange roller and yellow center roller it will bind up in dog hair eventually. That duo roller in front is awful on carpet. Yes you have to remove it and clean the fur from the mount areas but I have now had a problem with center roller. I'm guessing I will have to completely take it apart to get to the center one but it is now binded in hair and I know it's around where it mounts to side of vacuum. I like my Shark rotator better for carpet and pet hair. Same with my Shark robot but still works great.

I’ve had mixed results with Sharks Zero-M heads. As far as hair, yeah sure it’s great, but my household has younger kids with little toys(legos) and other small random bits. Objects that are about 1/4” in diameter constantly get stuck in the head. So, long story short I find myself maintaining the “Zero-maintenance” head much more often than would be considered normal.

I don't know if there's any place to find this one, but the best pet vacuum I know is the electrolux ultraflex bagless canister vacuum. What makes it so good is how well it cleans up litter, even from litter mats and grout cracks, and it being absolutely incredible on both hard floor and carpets. I had a shark navigator lift-away and struggled with it, but this baby saved me. Also, unlike the navigator, it can get under any furniture... which is a big deal if you're dealing with pet dander.

I own a Bissell Clearview vacuum that I purchased at Sam’s Club on sale for $80. It is currently the highest rated affordable vacuum ($100 and under) on Amazon and elsewhere. The first one I purchased broke within the first month of ownership. The bristles/brush abruptly quit spinning. Not at all surprising considering I used it to vacuum a restaurant floor five nights a week. A floor which often wet, damp, and/or often littered with little pieces of food (corn, green beans, etc)
I had my second one now about six months and believe I found the problem. I believe I was vacuuming too low on the first one. I returned and replaced the first one after it broke and raised the vacuum height to 3/4 from the 1/2 I used on the first vacuum and it seems to have solved the problem.

Would you consider doing a review set focused on usability and health for people who are sickly? I have been watching your videos for a couple of months, digging through piles of vacuums and I'm just exhausted because it seems like there is nothing that is light enough and easy enough for someone with my lack of strength while also being good at avoiding allergen spreading and decent anti tangle, but it is hard to tell since no one goes into the usability details very much. A video that goes over usability in detail with attention to use by people with generalized weakness, hand/wrist weakness and arthritis and only looks at vacuums with good seals I think would be really helpful for many people.

I now want to include a vacuum on my list for our new house because some of these are really just impressive, specifically for the aspect of them making the amount of dust in my home so much better

Testing new out of the box units is not true testing on a vacuum. Units that have been used in a home for 3-6 months and then do the test. Also you never mention durability and parts availability on the machines. I like your videos but changes need to be made.

I kind of wish you would do a more realistic pet hair test. The dog hair in my house literally seems to weave itself into our area rugs. So your tests of piles of hair or stands of hair laying ontop of carpet doesn't really tell me which is best at getting the hair out. Not sure how you'd do a test like this maybe since you have cats doing a test on your own area rug with your own cats would be better?

  • @TheLIonsLife

Honestly, I'll never buy a Shark vacuum. A relatively new Shark Navigator came with our new house and my pet peeve with it is that the hose in back gets clogged with dog hair every time I vacuum the house, so I can only use it on my living room area rug, I have to use a ShopVac for the rest of the house. I'm getting another Dyson next time, I loved mine and never had an issue with it in 14 years until I accidentally got water in the motor!

@@VacuumWars Can confirm, the Apex holds up great. The only downside to it is that I have to empty the bin at least 2-3 times when I vacuum. I recently got the Shark IQ with the auto empty bin so I could stop vacuuming so often and it also holds up fairly well. I had to vacuum with the Apex before I started using it though. It was unable to empty itself because it got too full on its first run. I run it daily now and it has kept the place consistently clean, but I have the same issue of having to empty the bin often. Every 1-2 days.

Such a simple comb design but very effective. Later, I bought the shark AI robot vacuum that also combs the brush roll, but it doesn't work nearly as well. I'd like to see a similar video for robot vacuums that's only focus is pet hair. Curious if there is anything better than what I already have.

The problem with Shark, Bissell, and recently now Dyson is that if something goes wrong with one of these vacuums outside of the warranty, it will be almost impossible for them to be repaired. Shark does not make any parts available to the shops where people fix vacuums. Bissell has very limited parts available and Dyson is not only expensive to fix but parts are becoming incredibly hard to get ahold of. Trust me, I deal with this daily.

I don’t understand why there is no vacuum that has been made by any brand that has a roller that does the whole collecting hair thing where it can be removed. Every vacuum gets human hair tangled, even the ones he says are the best get some hair caught occasionally and while its not a lot of hair, why can’t they just invent a removable roller. Not the front cloth roller like the vertex but the other roller that actually gets hair stuck. Maybe I’m missing something but instead of having to tediously yank the hair out, why can’t they just create it to where that roller detaches easily and you can just easily get the hair off the roller. It’s hard to pull the hair out of the side parts and if the whole thing came off we wouldn’t have this issue
