I never knew this song was about ADHD when I was a teen, and now being in my 30's restarting my Adderall script after some years of being off it to try and improve my overall focus... eating my seeds.

  • @tacojoe4688
    @tacojoe4688 ปีที่แล้ว +34

In the "eating seeds as a pass time activity" they were referencing how it was common for people in their home town to eat seeds to pass the time because unemployment was so high and the overall message of the song speaks out against gvt corruption. However this like most metal songs can be interpreted in many ways and it was cool to see your take on a first listen. I hope you continue your metal journey the genre is loaded with extremely deep songs with fantastic instrumentals. 🤘

      Conversion, software versión 7.0
(Today music is used to bring ideas to the people softly/to upload people with knowledge without them realizing it [instead of converting people with violence as in the past] to convert them into good people. 7 is the number of God.)
Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub.
(Like a Rolling Stone-- wandering through life without having the conviction to build upon the stable foundation of Jesús's teachings, life will have a swirling chaotic appearance.)
Eating seeds is a pass-time activity.
(The many temptations and traps set for us are meant to weed-out weaker peoples' offspring from the population.)
      The toxicity of our city.
(The evil which constantly grows among populations as random genetic mutations create disfunctional people and hedonism corrupts people in times of peace and prosperity. )
More wood for their fires, loud neighbors.
(Another metaphor for the slow-motion genocide used to guide population growth. Loud neighbors being bad people, especially those who fight with their own families. Neighbors referring to the fact that we all share this planet.)
      Flashlight reveries...
(Revering/worshipping/paying attention to an artificial light source such as fame, wealth, ideology rather than worshipping The Sun/The Son of God.)
...caught in the headlights of a truck.
(A death sentence for those distracted by flashing lights.)
You, how do you own the world?
(How is it possible to control the population in such a way as to create peace and prosperity, while also protecting the planet and colonizing space?)
      How do you own disorder?
(How can someone convert the population to follow Jesus when people are rebellious and their random genetic mutations cause them to slowly become useless without some type of selective pressure to guide their evolution?)
      Sacred Silence
(Perfect Order. Those who have acheived economic liberation and moral enlightenment become crystalized, as their desire for sex and adventure disappears, and they hide themselves away from the people as to not create jealousy nor spread their crystalization.)
      Sleep
(The darkness of the absolute chaos of nature without any conscious beings.)
Now, somewhere between the Sacred Silence and Sleep.
(Humanity today--the place between the perfect order of The Illuminated Ones and the Absolute Chaos of Nature. ☯️ The place where the action happens, sex/reproduction, adventure/discovery. The place where new forms of being are born and rise.)
      Disorder.
(The purposeful introduction of Chaos to balance out Humanities natural inclination to Order our world. The balance between Chaos and Order.)
      When I became The Sun....
(When I achieved the enlightenment and wealth which put me above humanity and made me a true source of illumination for them. When i became a Son of God/an embassador for the growth of the consciousness of The Universe through human evolution.)
...I shone life into the man's hearts.
(I illuminated/I converted softly. I showed people how to awaken their spirits so they would create technologies and families and mass movements which grow humanity's glory.)

The lyrics to this song were always a bit too abstract for me to really grasp.
I could completely be out in left field, but I always felt he was saying that the natural state of the world is disorder. All that is between sleep and death is disorder. Through our governments and ultimately our cities we try to tame and control that disorder but we are just fighting a losing battle against the natural state of things.
Like I said, I may be way off target, but that's kinda how the lyrics always hit me.

Conjures an image in my head of an orphan in a junkyard peaking at what's happening through the pile of waste and garbage
This is yet another phenomenal album produced by in my opinion the greatest producer of all time Rick Rubin just imagine being attached to both this album and Jay Z's Black album within a couple years of each other

You may not see this but I've listened to this song more times than I can even imagine. I never drew the connection until just now... You talked about the point of owning disorder. On the cusp of chaos we as people act as if we're in full control. We control our sleep. We fight sleep. We force ourselves at times to go to sleep. But what's just beyond that, which we have no control at all.

Beautiful interpretation and that is what real music is all about, it is meant to invoke a response within the listener and how they resonate with the piece they are listening to. When it comes to music like rock and metal, it usually comes from a raw emotional place, with certain alternatives of today like Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi, it comes from the same place however presented more sensitive to the listener so that it doesn't insight rageful or depressed emotions or actions. Music is a perfect tool for expression, but we get to experience it through different styles that relate to our tastes and when we do vibe with a song we can relate to, it helps us feel, then heal and it just makes this disorder of life, just that a little more bearable. I lost my nan, my best friend and my cat in the space of just shy of 5 months (May to September), but music as well as other passions like writing has helped me get through it all and come out the other side, whilst this battle is still going on among other battles, it's really music and writing, my passions that have helped me through.
Wasn't looking for any sympathy there, just hoping my experience could help some else relate, that being said, thank you Knox Hill for always educating me and giving me brand new eyes into some of my favourite media, especially your ERB segments.
    Keep it Knoxy!!

    The line with "eating seeds",
I also see a way to interprete it as eating the source of life and destroying potential for groth.
As seeds are that from which life sprouts.
Eating them would litterally kill the next generation.
This line seems so superficial and meaningless on the first glance, because most people would take it litterally, just eating a couple sunflower seeds and chilling, but you can take it on so many different levels, i absolutely love that line.
