honestly, I think diabolical box is very beautiful, although most people say it's one of the weakest in the franchise, it had such a enchanting melancholy atmosphere and an amazing soundtrack... not to mention how emotional the ending was. it makes me nostalgic for when the professor and luke's adventures were about inheritance disputes and magical boxes, so simple and yet so beautiful. no 3d graphics or complicated plots, just far fetched reveals that somehow made sense in my young mind.
@@professorgrimm4602 I just love this song from the old game on my old DS even though I didn’t know that it had a lyric like Anton’s ex-wife singing before she’s dead in the last year, but I wonder who’s Katia’s mom and Sophia’s daughter.
So true. Both Unwound Future and Diabolical Box broke my heart, but the latter hit different. At least Claire and Hershel got some closure, Anton and Sophia never did. 😢
This version is beautiful, where is it from? ❤ I thought it was the instrumental version of Salyu's single, but it's not on the cd, and the one in the OST is the music box version (iris~オルゴールver.).
The professor Layton games are good but the last one "Azran Legecies" was so far fetched it was stupid. I know the games are far fetched but it's so stupid...
+Sophie Wilson I have to say I disagree. The fourth one with the giant manatee was the worst. Azran Legacy was far fetched, but workable. It's when they brought in the random manatee in the fourth one that I actually started to question the Layton plot ideas.
It's hard to put into words how brilliant Professor Layton is. You stay up til all hours of the night, obsessing over that puzzle you need to beat to progress with the amazing story. The DS is the only light in your room, entrancing you with it's glare and the hypnotic puzzle music. After hours, it finally clicks, you twiddle your imaginary top hat and contentedly hit Submit. And then you're wrong. You swear alot and stab the screen furiously for it to hurry up and let you try again. I love it.
I played this when it came out... I was only 9 or 10. I don’t recall ever finishing it, though. Ten years later, at 21 years old, I just finished it after finding that the trilogy had been converted to App form. I cried at the end. Not a loud cry, or a sad cry, like I have with shows or other games. Just sat back and let the tears roll. Professor Layton has always been a happy place for me...
this is such a beautiful comment, i was much the same. it hits you right in the heart to revisit the games so many years later and all the memories come flooding back with the added new knowledge... it does bring a tear to the eye.
I did as well, when I finished the last game, it was just warm. Because I thought the series had a lovely tale and ended nicely. While I wish there were more adventures with Luke and the Professor, their story is always a safe place for me. It's a reminder of a simpler time. Though, I did quickly buy the app games the moment you said they converted it. I want to relive that now, so thank you
this was the best game in the series. Back in the day when Layton didn't have to unravel his own past, just good clean adventuring to bring help where help was needed. And it had a tea minigame. No other game will ever beat The Diabolical Box and its tea set ^ω^
man i just replayed the game after like five years bc quarantine and i spent like three days after i finished the storyline trying to find which character i forgot to serve tea to ;-;
I still remember as well, in German it was „Wenn wir Beide uns sehen, steigt die Sonne empor, und ein Windhauch trägt dir meine Liebe ins Ohr“ - "When the both of us see each other, the sun rises, and a wisp of wind carries my love into your ear" Took me ages to figure out what to do as a kid until I happened to breathe into the mic lol
I have never enjoyed any game series as much as this one. The music will just bring you to tears in seconds. The storylines are unlike that in any other game, being completely unique and amazing, bringing you to tears every single time. Nothing will ever be able to beat these games. Every single game on its own is better then any other game, not even counting the series in a whole. These games are truly magnificent.
Cried so hard during this game. I remember playing this change up to 6 Am on a school night. No regrets. Professor Layton games know how to hit you mentally and physically with puzzles and feels.
Honestly... Halfways through the credits, I was still wiping my tears. Things rarely move me as much as this did. Now I'm moving on to The Unwound Future. I'm so glad I got into this series of games.
Although Unwound Future had the saddest ending, I gotta say, the combination of an extremely endearing moral of the story and the heartwarming moments made Diabolical Box's ending very memorable. Also, SPOILER ALERT! Has anyone noticed that the three games in the Trilogies follow the same ending structures? First game: Someone leaving their hometown for adventure, Second Game: A heartwarming reunion of two people very close to each other and Third Game: A heartbreaking goodbye.
They do, but it's done in a way that doesn't feel too formulaic. SPOILER Plus with Flora I don't really care that she's leaving her home town, she needs to get the fuck away from those creepy robots :P (kidding)
It was my mom who introduced me to this game when I was around... 5 or 6. I was young and sometimes asked for her help. When I was around 10 or 11, my grandma played these games. I loved the series and she would sometimes help me. I am now 18. My grandma passed away in June of last year. It hurt. Listening to this song again a month or so after, I broke down. I miss her. This series has a place in my heart, just like many others. I love to read your all's comments on how you found the game, how you feel so attached or connected to the series, and how it is your favorite. Anyways. Have a good night. 🌙
I got into the franchise at around 8. I’m 16 now and this is the one of few games that makes me cry consistently. The ending is so beautiful. A couple years later I found Curious Village in my garage and played that for the first time, realizing that that was the first. A couple months ago I bought the original trilogy for mobile and now I’ve got unwound future under my belt. Can’t wait to play the original trilogy and now New World of Steam. This franchise is very special to me.
@@tutdunsthemouse He did it himself though to prevent people from stealing his family's fortune as many people liked to steal the Elysian Box. But yeah, it was sad for him though to have to go through all that and forget all about his wife and not recognize his granddaughter. Poor Anton
surely someday 😉 we will never replace akira tago, but he lives on in our hearts. layton is a beautifully constructed franchise, and what there is of it is perfect.
@Connor Chuchev Level 5 Inc Closed down their offices in America, I'm afraid to say that it might be gone, but not forever Nintendo has a history of remaking old games, so maybe we will see it again, surely someday ;(
i love that everyone has a different favourite (although lots of people like UF) because all the games are unique, while still retaining their special atmosphere. truly beautiful. 💓
@@nathanmeads6241 I was completely unfamiliar with Professor Layton when I first found Diabolical Box. At that point, Curious Village was a little hard to come by. I eventually managed to get my hands on it.
Even after all this years, some part of me remembered this song. How I wish I could play without a care, and love every new world and character like I used to.
that happened to me with these games. i played them from ages 7-9, and then lost my ds when I moved house. but then i rediscovered them, and the memories all came flooding back. layton never leaves your heart💓
i cried so hard as well. whether this game is my favourite of all the layton games, i don't know, but the series is definitely my favourite game series for certain. 💞
There are only two games that made me cry: "her" and this game. I think we really can call the professor Layton and the diabolical box a "work of art".
I agree. the ending of this game (and the other professor layton games) are works of art. they're so beautifully constructed, they make me feel so moved, and they're super nostalgic. I'll love professor layton forever, because it touched me in a way that changed me life. I'm forever thankful to the creators💞
While the 2nd one has also had a sad but also very beautiful and in a way happy ending, the 3rd one is definitely darker, but still, there's hope left in the end :) Gosh i loved those games and their stories as a kid...
Gosh...I remember this series since I first picked it up at an age of...7??? Wut. How. I can remember myself bringing my moms DS everywhere, solving the puzzles and all the good stuff. And, with my 7-year-old mind, somehow reached the end of the game. How was I that damn smart? How?At the end, I began to tear up. Seriously. This game is like, my fave series ever!
i played my first layton game at 7 too. now I'm remembering the sheer bliss of playing it with my young innocent mind for the first time and I'm crying lmao
In the DS trilogy, Diabolical box made me cry more than Unwound future. Unwound Future was sad is my favorite game in the trilogy. But in terms of endings, DB made me cry. If you've read the small lore or the diaries during your playthrough, the buildup to the twist was well done (even if the twist is a bit farfetched). Sophia and Anton's story was so sweet. Unwound Future was actually my first game but DB's ending was just so bittersweet to me.
It's funny, because I never really had any friends. They would call themselves my friends but would bully me and neglect me. I played this game and heard this piece, not knowing that years later, I would finally find a close friend and other friends that would truly care about me. My close friend plays the accordion and I play violin. The fact that the accordion and violin play parts of the piece individually in the first part of the piece mirrors how we each individually lived our lives before knowing each other. Then, just as the accordion (and cello, he also plays cello) and violin parts meet at the end, our paths crossed in the end.
it makes me tear up remembering my childhood, how i only used to worry about whether professor layton would discover the mystery's solution, without any stress or anxiety, just real bliss of sitting at home and on trains, uncovering layton's mysteries one at a time.
Words cannot describe how much I love Professor Layton. It challenges you without being too hard (and there are walkthroughs online to help me), the music is just magnificent, and all of the characters are either relatable or very complex or both. Unluckily, I do not have a 3DS so I cannot play the last three games. Luckily, my boyfriend has a 3DS and he has every single Professor Layton game, including the Ace Attorney crossover. He loves Professor Layton just as much as I do, and we have had many gaming sessions with his 3DS.
relationship goals! honestly i find it hard to put it into words how much i love professor layton too, there's just something about it that I can't place a finger on that really tops it all off... still, they are truly the most moving and beautiful game I've ever played. I love them with my whole heart and i will forever.
I've never even played any Professor Layton games but this is a banger. That drop at 2:13 (Yeah, I feel funny saying this about such a chill song, but, man. Good stuff.)
the new professor Layton games for 3ds.. just aren't the same as the old ones, these are masterpieces I wish I could play them for the first time again :'(
Hisoka Amorou I love them all but honestly I think I love the 3ds ones just a little more. I loved them all of course, but the soundtrack in the 3ds ones are just too good
yes i liked the 3d games, but i didn't like the 3d element, and I loved the original art style - I wish they'd kept it, it was part of the series' charm.
Oh man I remember playing this game the story was amazing. This track just triggered a river of nostalgia for me. I'm happy that they're bringing the series back alive.
I played this game series 8 years ago and to this day I hold it close to my heart. I'm not a 'gamer', but I absolutely adore story driven games and puzzles, this games are the perfect combination of the two. I'm always going to be grateful for having the opportunity to play this amazing videogame saga
coming back after 12-13 years, when i was young and life was beautiful in my eyes, i just cried listening to this again. wonderful memory from my fav series!
I did when I finally beat it, I cried too. I've never beat curious village or lost future or played the others but this one I just find not only the closest to reality but one of the strongest (only beaten by lost futures ending which I've now looked up) and the only fantasy in this really is the gas and the unrealistic bridge into the castle. Other than that it is P E R F E C T!
The soundtrack had no business in going this hard for a kid's puzzle game. Iris & and the Main themes of Pandora's box and Unwound Future were absolute bangers.
Probably the most satisfying "The End" theme I've ever heard in my life. It just carries such incredible happiness and satisfaction. Nearly brought me to tears the first time I heard it without the goofy credits sequence. P.S. Also it kinda reminds me of Fairy Tail, especially starting at 2:13
I only joined the fandom in October but DANG DOES THE MUSIC MAKE ME CRY HARD- (This series is the only video game series that’s successfully made me cry)
that happened to me a few months ago. i was obsessed with professor layton from the ages of 7 to 9 and then I just stopped playing on my ds as I got older, and i tidied it away somewhere when i moved house. then i found it again a few months ago and fell completely back in love, and replayed all the games, so good god the nostalgia hit me hard. but they're such beautifully crafted games, from the artwork, to the puzzles, to the soundtrack, and those characters we grew to love as children who are still waiting when we get back to them. professor layton is honestly one of the most things to me, and I hold it close to my heart. 💓
The nostalgia really kicks in when I hear this song. It reminds of some of the ridiculous puzzles that I eventually managed to solve (with help because I'm such a dumbass) and beating my first Professor Layton game and crying because of the emotional ending and the music really didn't help me hold back the tears. This is also my favourite Professor Layton game. I still love the other games but Pandora's Box really stands out for me. I'm just so sad that they have stopped making Professor Layton games T-T...
Huehueh. Me too. When I was like, what, 7 I somehow (like, seriously, how was I THAT smart?) was able to go through the whole game. Must've had a ton of hint coins. And that ending. That ending. When I finished it, I literally began tearing up. This is the only series that made me cry. In the unwound future, after playing it like 50000 times, it somehow made me cry again...hypocritical...
+Penny Pecpec Yeah, people who are madly in love with each other and just knowing that it is never possible to be reunited really disheartens me. Also, love misunderstandings are like that too. Anton and Sophia are a perfect couple and they should've been together until the very end. I just hope my future relationship doesn't end up like that. Whew! Feelings ●~●
when i played professor layton as a kid, i never realised just how heartbreaking the lost future was. (it hits me with so much nostalgia too which doesn't help) but I absolutely _sobbed_ when I replayed the game.
Whenever I hear this song, I always see Sophia's face in the sky, smiling at her loved ones, knowing that the day they will join her is far away from now...
My friends thinks i'm weird cuz i think that these games are the best games ever created on any console but they are just so good. I always get the feels when I listen to music like this and I love the way in each game the ending is unexpectant and really FREAKIN SAD!! It may seem weird but I cried at the ending of some of the games. Especially the lost future. XD
I hope people will continue to listen to this music for years to come despite the seemingly end of the series, the music truly is a work of art and beauty that could describe all the emotions of the game.
To me this is the greatest game series I've ever played. So well written and crafted. Back when we were poor this was my only Christmas gift. My mom didn't even buy it she got it with fidelity points at a supermarket. This was truly a blessing in disguise. I think Pandora box is my favorite because of sentimental value.
the fact the professor layton has had a positive impact on you makes me so happy. it really is a beautiful series. i hope you're doing well 💞 pandora's box is very underrated, it has a truly amazing soundtrack, and made me cry my eyes out when I finished.
This was my first game in the series. I got it accidentally, because when i was around 8 or 9 I sent my faulty DSi to the store to be fixed and when i got it back, a copy of Professor Layton and Pandora's Box had been put inside the console. I tried it out and was instantly hooked by the extremely spooky plot of Andrew Schrader's death. Since then I've played through every game in this series wayyyy too many times. I haven't gotten my hands on the Lady Layton game as i was a little bit disappointed that the professor was gone. The original trilogy is my favourite by far, although i still have a sweet spot for The Spectre's Call. All i can think of when Pandora's Box comes to mind is that god damned mushroom puzzle which i couldn't figure out at all and forced me to drop the game for a while back when i was still quite young...
I only played through the Layton games for the first time last year and I already look forward to playing them all again. Especially this game here though, there's just something to it, that makes it my absolute favorite of the whole bunch.
Oh, I hated that stupid mushroom puzzle it was so unclear what the objective was even with all the hints or maybe I'm just dumb, any way you're not missing out on much by not playing the lady Layton game the puzzles, stories and characters aren't as good I can only remember one of their names, sadly its pretty forgettable at least to where I played up to.
This song brings back so many mermaids. Every game made my love for this game stronger and stronger. First it started with a curious village, then a box, and then an unwound future. Professor Layton is arguable the best game to troll with your emotions. These games made who I am today and I’m so blessed to have been able to play these games. I remember begging my sister to try and help me figure out puzzles and getting frustrated. God bless you Professor Layton❤️
God bless layton 💞 he truly improved my life; discovering the games was one of the best things in my life. the tears still fall after years and years, with the memories of childhood and the happiness of innocence - not having to worry about anything, just whether layton would solve his mystery. i really do appreciate the games.
The song has a special place in my heart. It reminds me of the last summer I spent in Minnesota before we moved. For some reason, this song reminds me of all the wonderful memories I had back then. It's amazing of how listening to music you used to can unlock the feelings of your past, isn't it? : )
It really is, just like Anton unlocked the memories of his past with Sophia. I think this game brings back memories of holidays and family for lots of people, because we all played it as children on holiday, when everything was more simple and there was nothing to worry about. Nostalgia at its finest.
Man, i really want to replay this, But at the same time i dont want to. i cant re-live the memories i made as a child so maybe its better to leave them untouched i guess.
that's true. i replayed and the nostalgia hit me hard. I'd recommend replaying, it's a comfort to know that the professor and luke and flora and everyone are still there, waiting for you with their puzzles. plus, the game's soundtrack and artwork is really beautiful.
This was my favorite game in the Layton series. It was the first one I finished and I cried so hard every time I finished the game. I hope to see more games like this one in the future. :">
Sophie Wilson Really? I found Azran Legacy pretty impressive. While the music wasn't the best in the PL title, the puzzles, gameplay, characters, and story was excellent.
I'm crying every time I hear it. I played it the first time with the age of seven. It was a wonderful time... I love it! And I will love it for the rest of my life. 😍
layton has always had its own place reserved in my heart. I'll never forget playing it as a kid, and replaying it again. it's truly a blessing that I ever played them.
the series is so uniquely beautiful. you don't know where or when it's set, but you know that the characters and places are close to your heart 💓, and they'll stick with you forever. a truly amazing series of games.
i absolutely love this game, it not only educates you, it also teaches you on how to love, forgive, and sacrifices that's needed to make for someone you love.. i cried when this music starts, it really touches me :')
I played this for the first time when I was a wee little child in 2009. This theme honestly gives me one of the most powerful nostalgic reactions ever--
i get that, professor layton was my childhood, so I put off playing the azran legacy for ages, because it didn't want it to be over. but this year, i realised that all good things must end. I played the game, and let me tell you, when it finished, I've never cried so hard in my life. surely someday.
i found this song on a relaxing nintendo music playlist and cried while listening to it, almost like I had heard it before, when things were better. But yet, somehow, i had never heard this song until then, I might play this game purely to hear the music, it sounds like a great time!!!
I've never even played the game. Me and my band did the unwound future and my hand slipped to press the video. I don't think I've ever cried this much before in my life.
i got this game and the curious village from a cousin. i had namco museum ds and mario so i didn’t bother playing this one. i dug it out last year and damn it was better than i imagined. thanks, layton.
anton was a tragic character. but he was reunited with his granddaughter in the end, and lived his last days in happiness, which made for the perfect bittersweet ending.
Beautiful. Its a happy song, just like the way Anton is happy to be with Katia, but it still has a sad feeling to it, it fits the mood perfectly. Great ending song
I have never been so sad to finish a game as this one... I came back to it after a while and was blown away by the nostalgia.. I love you, Pandora’s box
I recently finished Professor Layton and the Diabolical/Pandora's Box and this had to be my favorite track by far. And what made this even better, not only does this make me more excited for the adventures I'll have with Luke and Layton, But it was the first Professor Layton Game I finished.. when I saw that the entirety of Folsense (:OO FOLSENSE COULD MAYBE BE PRONOUNCED LIKED FALSE SENSE!! :OO I JUST NOW REALIZED THAT! ) was an illusion, I shed a few tears and I'm not one who cries over video games (That's a lie, I cried playing Mario Galaxy.) endings or story line. But this just.. it gave me the feels. It made me realize that even if Anton felt some False Hope in his 'Village', His love for Sophia never faded. He may have hated her for the wrong reason, but that's because he truly loved her. I just can't wait til I continue The Curious Village, Specter's call and The Miracle Mask. (I also have the unwound future but I think it'll have to wait for a little bit...) But until then, Thank you, Hershel, Luke, Katia and Anton. It was truly a pleasure to get to go on this adventure with you. I hope to see you all again someday in the future. Until then, Best Wishes to all of you! Edit: Do you hear that Sophia? It's a song just for you. I hope you are doing well.. Katia is doing good too. I hope you like the song my dear. My time's almost here, I know it is. So you don't have much longer to wait. Sophia, dear, I love you." Made that up off the top of my head I just thought it went with the song. It's like a short side message that Anton might send to Sophia before he departs to the second life to see her. Anyways, that's all I got :3 May hope guide your path, and who knows, Maybe we'll meet again.

happymask118 Welp. My progression was more like "come for the story, stay for the puzzles and love for both.
True my friend! This game is gold!
Cried so hard during this game. I remember playing this change up to 6 Am on a school night. No regrets. Professor Layton games know how to hit you mentally and physically with puzzles and feels.
true words, my friend
Could not have said anything truer. I don't cry over games, but I cried over this.
same, i crying right now
Do you mean 6 pm on a school night or 6 am on a school morning?
the nostalgia of remembering my childhood with layton is genuinely one of the strongest emotions I've felt in my life
Honestly... Halfways through the credits, I was still wiping my tears.
Things rarely move me as much as this did.
Now I'm moving on to The Unwound Future. I'm so glad I got into this series of games.
If this moved you, get ready for the ending of Unwound Future. My GOD.
***** And then go thru the Azran Legacy :(( demn ninja chopping onions :((
Romeo III Sta. Ana Oddly enough, Miracle Mask had the greatest impact on me!
me too
The ending to unwound future is the saddest ending I've ever seen in any game. There is no game series better then this one.
SPOILER
Plus with Flora I don't really care that she's leaving her home town, she needs to get the fuck away from those creepy robots :P (kidding)
Haha it makes me laugh # spoiler!...
curious village came out in 2007 and Pandora's box in 2008 haha i dont thibk that many will be spoiler now. :)
Plus the great ending theme.
I am with you. It's a really good game. It makes me play it 5 times and i am still playing it. Drugs you know
Championer Gaming
It's always the drugs.. Even Anton was on them...
Have a great life, be strong and good night :)
This franchise is very special to me.
every now and then i come back and shed a tear.
its been almost 11 years
that's nice because i do as well. this music is honestly beautiful and it hits me with such nostalgia
Too much time has passed. I wish it would pause for a bit

Ace Attorney and Professor Layton are the best game series on the Nintendo handheld systems
+Bender B. Rodriguez Absolutely agreed!
ACE ATTORNEY

Plot Twist I would include Pokemon Mystery Dungeon on thag list. Explorers of Sky has the greatest story of all time imo
Played them both and I strongly agree 👏
it’s funny how Anton look so evil there, but he actually a sweet guy.. poor him :’(
Yeah. All because of a misunderstanding.
his story's kind of sad, especially seeing as he gets painted as a villain
@@tutdunsthemouse He did it himself though to prevent people from stealing his family's fortune as many people liked to steal the Elysian Box. But yeah, it was sad for him though to have to go through all that and forget all about his wife and not recognize his granddaughter. Poor Anton
Anton's story is so sad. I love this game. Someday we'll see Layton again... someday...
Naaaaaaaice
I like that play on words
someday. :``)
surely someday 😉 we will never replace akira tago, but he lives on in our hearts. layton is a beautifully constructed franchise, and what there is of it is perfect.
@Connor Chuchev :)
@Connor Chuchev Level 5 Inc Closed down their offices in America, I'm afraid to say that it might be gone, but not forever Nintendo has a history of remaking old games, so maybe we will see it again, surely someday ;(
My favorite Layton game, and my first. I loved Unwound Future and Curious Village, but Diabolical Box just stuck with me.
MrMrMrprofessor I love this, too. And excellent avatar!
Exactly the same with me..
How dare you not play Curious Village first. Also you can't beat the ending from Unwound Future.
i love that everyone has a different favourite (although lots of people like UF) because all the games are unique, while still retaining their special atmosphere. truly beautiful. 💓
@@nathanmeads6241 I was completely unfamiliar with Professor Layton when I first found Diabolical Box. At that point, Curious Village was a little hard to come by. I eventually managed to get my hands on it.
Even after all this years, some part of me remembered this song.
How I wish I could play without a care, and love every new world and character like I used to.
that happened to me with these games. i played them from ages 7-9, and then lost my ds when I moved house. but then i rediscovered them, and the memories all came flooding back. layton never leaves your heart💓
i actually cried during the ending of this game. this is without a doubt my favorite game
i cried so hard as well. whether this game is my favourite of all the layton games, i don't know, but the series is definitely my favourite game series for certain. 💞
There are only two games that made me cry: "her" and this game. I think we really can call the professor Layton and the diabolical box a "work of art".
+Daniel Jones I played all professor Layton games for Nintendo ds, the unwound future didn't make me cry but I loved it, too
Fun fact: Unwound Future made me bawl my eyes out, and I knew the ending going in. It's that good.
I agree. the ending of this game (and the other professor layton games) are works of art. they're so beautifully constructed, they make me feel so moved, and they're super nostalgic. I'll love professor layton forever, because it touched me in a way that changed me life. I'm forever thankful to the creators💞
@@sadlarry9322 I can't find the game "her" that you mention here. I know it's late but mind helping me please? I'm really interested.

FIRST LAYTON GAME TO MAKE ME CRY
WHY MUST U MAKE ME FEEL THINGS LEVEL 5
level 5 made me cry so gd hard over the years
Every single layton game has made me cry at some point
Even Layton Mystery Journey
But I think I was crying for a different reason with that one
I was crying before when the song began, but then when the violin part came I just broke down, it's beautiful and powerful D'X
that bit gives me chills every time, i think it's truly beautiful
oh wait
When I got to the credits of Diabolical Box I had my headphones on and was actually dancing around my kitchen to this song because it was so pretty.
I was just sitting there crying
I used to play through the game and save just before the final part so I could replay it over and over again
Yeah me too!
the ending really is beautiful
Yoooooo all the time
I cried when I finished this game. Now on to Unwound Future...and depression, as I hear. Never played the third game, but I hear it's very sad.
Penny Filkins Yes, very sad. My favourite character is "Future Luke". I personally thought it was sadder than this game.
+KiArAmAkEn All the games are sad! But yes, none of them really topped Lost Future :'( Just because it was double the impact!
+Penny Filkins “Story Time” PLAY IT. I recommend you if you haven't do it at the day :3
While the 2nd one has also had a sad but also very beautiful and in a way happy ending, the 3rd one is definitely darker, but still, there's hope left in the end :) Gosh i loved those games and their stories as a kid...
+Penny “Story Time” Filkins Started this just the other day! Can't wait to see how it turns out for young Luke and the Professor.
I think I was like 9 and completed the game by spending every damn hint coin I could afford
Te entiendo: este también fue mi primer Layton y me lo pasé con 6 o 7 años (creo que 6 pero no estoy seguro)
Unwound Future was actually my first game but DB's ending was just so bittersweet to me.
diabolical box is very bittersweet, whereas unwound future is just pretty sad. both make me cry though haha.
Yeah! The Professor Layton series will always have a place in our hearts ;^;💜
I miss this series so much...
I'm playing the games again
That accordion is top notch. Someone needs to make sheet music for this.
agreed
the accordion is criminally underrated, and the pl series is literally a godsend for the accordion
My favorite Professor Layton game
Mine too
@teulieres cyril oui, mon jeu préférée est The Lost Future, et j'aime tous les premier 4 jeus, mais je n'ai joue pas The Azran Legacy 🥰
@teulieres cyril they all are great in their own way. 💞
This is beautiful, and I'm glad you found someone in the end.
this is so beautiful. i'm happy that professor layton has managed to touch someone's life in a positive way like that 💞

Professor Layton = BEST GAME MUSIC EVER ( and best game too ;) )
This end credits track is so powerful, I sobbed to it. At nine years old. The first time I broke down to beautiful, bittersweet music
it's been eight years since I remember solving the final puzzle, the one on the box, and hearing this song play. and yet... it still makes me well up.
about 3 years for me ;-;
it makes me tear up remembering my childhood, how i only used to worry about whether professor layton would discover the mystery's solution, without any stress or anxiety, just real bliss of sitting at home and on trains, uncovering layton's mysteries one at a time.
He loves Professor Layton just as much as I do, and we have had many gaming sessions with his 3DS.
relationship goals
+Lea Oversteegen IKR :D
relationship goals! honestly i find it hard to put it into words how much i love professor layton too, there's just something about it that I can't place a finger on that really tops it all off... still, they are truly the most moving and beautiful game I've ever played. I love them with my whole heart and i will forever.

the new professor Layton games for 3ds.. just aren't the same as the old ones, these are masterpieces
I wish I could play them for the first time again :'(
Hisoka Amorou I love them all but honestly I think I love the 3ds ones just a little more.
I'm always going to be grateful for having the opportunity to play this amazing videogame saga
this series just means so much to me
me too... me too... im glad someone understands...
coming back after 12-13 years, when i was young and life was beautiful in my eyes, i just cried listening to this again. wonderful memory from my fav series!
Who didn't cry is heartless.
yup. everyone gets emotional at this song.
P.S. Also it kinda reminds me of Fairy Tail, especially starting at 2:13
the credits in every layton game were what always set me off sobbing...
I only joined the fandom in October but DANG DOES THE MUSIC MAKE ME CRY HARD- (This series is the only video game series that’s successfully made me cry)
OMG WAIT IS THIS ANGEL LIKE.... ANGEL? THIS IS FIZZ BTW 😭
@@tutdunsthemouse YEAH ITS ME HELLO
This was my favourite song when i was 7 and I've finally found it and the game again 10 years later. I'm actually crying.
that happened to me a few months ago. i was obsessed with professor layton from the ages of 7 to 9 and then I just stopped playing on my ds as I got older, and i tidied it away somewhere when i moved house. then i found it again a few months ago and fell completely back in love, and replayed all the games, so good god the nostalgia hit me hard. but they're such beautifully crafted games, from the artwork, to the puzzles, to the soundtrack, and those characters we grew to love as children who are still waiting when we get back to them. professor layton is honestly one of the most things to me, and I hold it close to my heart.
IWishILivedInTheUSA !!! Beautiful story. Your mom did the best 😊
the fact the professor layton has had a positive impact on you makes me so happy. it really is a beautiful series. i hope you're doing well 💞 pandora's box is very underrated, it has a truly amazing soundtrack, and made me cry my eyes out when I finished.
Oh, I hated that stupid mushroom puzzle it was so unclear what the objective was even with all the hints or maybe I'm just dumb, any way you're not missing out on much by not playing the lady Layton game the puzzles, stories and characters aren't as good I can only remember one of their names, sadly its pretty forgettable at least to where I played up to.
omg that mushroom puzzle took me forever and i ended up googling it
I also played it first, I got a load of D's games from my cousin and this was one of them. So happy I stuck with it
Oh Christ not the mushroom puzzle
Professor Layton just fucking stomps on my heart😭 The games are so wonderful
literally... my heart was torn out after lost future 😭
Puts me to teary eyes every time

Out of the 5 I have played, The Miracle Mask is my favourite but I still need to play the Azran Legacy.
I wont spoil it for you but the legacy is disappointing ill but it that way...

Just discovered this song yesterday and have been listening nonstop.
I played this for the first time when I was a wee little child in 2009. This theme honestly gives me one of the most powerful nostalgic reactions ever--
the nostalgia hits you like a train when you listen to the layton soundtrack
i get nostalgia and i first played the game about 3 months ago. i literally played it again last week. i still feel like this.
I never thought I would say these words, but that's the most beautiful accordion I've ever heard.
when your childhood is over
i get that, professor layton was my childhood, so I put off playing the azran legacy for ages, because it didn't want it to be over. but this year, i realised that all good things must end. I played the game, and let me tell you, when it finished, I've never cried so hard in my life. surely someday.

So calm, yet so moving. Hits me in the feels every single time.
doesn't just hit you, it punches you with superhuman strength. but it's truly beautiful.
i found this song on a relaxing nintendo music playlist and cried while listening to it, almost like I had heard it before, when things were better. But yet, somehow, i had never heard this song until then, I might play this game purely to hear the music, it sounds like a great time!!!
I've never even played the game. Me and my band did the unwound future and my hand slipped to press the video. I don't think I've ever cried this much before in my life.
the soundtrack really is beautiful. the tears fall for me every time.

the best song in the entire game series
yes. iris, surely someday, time travel - what is it with the ending themes making me cry harder than humanly possible?
Beautiful. Its a happy song, just like the way Anton is happy to be with Katia, but it still has a sad feeling to it, it fits the mood perfectly.
Great ending song
I have never been so sad to finish a game as this one... I came back to it after a while and was blown away by the nostalgia.. I love you, Pandora’s box
it hits you right in the heart, doesn't it?
Since the first time I heard this song playing this game years ago, it has made me cry every time.
felt that... it's such a beautiful piece
Edit:
Do you hear that Sophia? It's a song just for you. I hope you are doing well.. Katia is doing good too. I hope you like the song my dear. My time's almost here, I know it is. So you don't have much longer to wait. Sophia, dear, I love you."
Made that up off the top of my head I just thought it went with the song. It's like a short side message that Anton might send to Sophia before he departs to the second life to see her. Anyways, that's all I got :3 May hope guide your path, and who knows, Maybe we'll meet again.
I almost cried reading this I'm so happy you liked the game, I'm always stalking this comment section to read people's stories so It's really amazing to see someone fall in love with this game for the first time I hope you like the other games in the series when you play them.

@@tutdunsthemouse The Professor Layton games are just heart warming and beautiful, same with the movie. And yes, there is something truly unique about the games... isn't there.
@@patsymurray6901 definitely 💞
God, I remember playing these games with my dad when I was very young. We would spend countless hours solving puzzles, moreso him than I, but we nevertheless enjoyed every minute. I wish my childhood would never end...
that's so beautiful. the games really do hit you with nostalgia. i wish you and your dad the best in life.
this hits different this year...

This music mix sadness and loneliness, its nice to hear it when you're alone
It's one of my favourite songs ever. Sad but happy too. 💞
It's okay, I'm not crying or anything...
First time i shed tears in a video game, pandoras box was absolutely amazing! :D
and lost future just topped it. Was bailing my eyes out in the ending.
this is my childhood omfg
i'm crying
my childhood was layton, so i put off playing the last game until this year, when i realised that all good things must end. i cried so hard when i finished the azran legacy this year because it really hit me then: the professor has done what needed to, and that part of my life has ended. professor layton has helped me, and now i have to go and make him proud.
