The Dabi reveal had to be planned from the beginning. During his intro they ask his name and he says they'll know when the time is right. At the camp in S3 he has a foreshadowing interaction with Shoto. When the heroes raid the League of Villains' hideout, Gran Torino says Dabi is the only one whose name he couldn't find.

Dabi is definitely one of the most interesting characters, when comes to both the heroes and villains. And it’s still more to come with him.
Remember that small exchanges between Dabi and Shoto during the Forest Training Arc, before escaping with Bakugo he says. "That's sad...Shoto...Todoroki". That line comes off a lot more personal when you think about it now.
This is the first react channel I've watched that didn't even have an inkling of Dabi being Toya. Practically everyone was guessing it, and getting to watch two people that never even thought about that possibility was SOOO good

I've brought this up before, but I gotta say, if Dabi (Or I guess Touya now that he's been revealed) wasn’t killing anyone and that sorta thing, I’d honestly be almost completely on his side here. Like, yeah, he has every right to call Endeavor out like this. Not to mention he did it in the best way possible. With the power of dance 😅 But yeah, that was pretty close to my own reaction. Complete and utter bewilderment.
I’ll give him a mulligan. Can’t imagine what kind of life he lived after the fire and whatever kept him afloat till he recovered. Imagine walking around with dead flesh all over and rings holding the skin of your under eyes, lower jaw and cheeks together. Man is running entirely on vengeance and hatred for Enji.
His life was shitty and Endeavor was the cause of α large part of it, but Toya’s actions are his own. Just like how Shoto’s power is his own and not his father’s, Dabi’s responsibility for his actions lies with him and not Endeavor.

I could be wrong. Ppl correct me if I am. But I believe when Dabi jumped down to attack, it was the 1st time Shoto called Endeavor dad. “Dad he’s coming dad!” Stating he finally accepts him as a father and to snap out of it. That he’s coming to KILL us.

I’m glad that you weren’t spoiled on Dabi. I hope that more people come to the understanding that reactions are a lot more fun and satisfying when the story itself reveals such a huge bit of information. As far as Dabi, his perspective is basically whatever he mentioned in his video to the world, but, like him, we still haven’t gotten all the pieces to the Todoroki puzzle, and that’s what makes their drama so interesting.
Kudos to the both of you for managing to stay in the dark up to this point! Especially considering Dabi's true identity was probably the most widely circulating theory among fans _long_ before the reveal happened, lol. I think you're the first reactors I've seen to link his connection to Endeavor by eye color, though.... most folks simply see the flame power as the biggest giveaway.

AFO: No! Tomura, you must retreat! Tomura: I didn't hear no bell Little side note, in the manga, Toga never explains the big thing about Jin. Which is why Ochako is so confused. Because she's not exactly sure why she's talking to her. But she instantly regrets shutting her down once she sees that she was crying. And it pushes her to question why Toga was upset. Which is why the anime having Toga mention her reason for being upset last episode kinda takes away from Ochako's confusion and trying to understand Toga. Toga does love Ochako the same way she loves Stain and Izuku. So essentially, one of her crushes didn't get what she was trying to convey. Which has to suck. When this reveal happened in the manga, it actually out trended the literal US election. Dabi is built different. Also, it's really funny how Shigaraki gave that speech a few episodes ago about how heroes will destroy their families and Endeavor completely ignored him. Only for one of the biggest examples of him being selfish and destroying his own family to appear. Endeavor is trying to improve, yes. But that doesn't mean his past actions just go away. He added fuel to that poor boy's flames and then tossed him aside once he realized he wasn't the perfect child he wanted to create. And now, Touya will reduce everything to ash. Him and Skeptic pulled through with the tag team of the century.
Things are definitely not going the Heroes so im glad that Best Jeanist cane to help. It makes sense why Endeavor didn't know Dabi was his kid considering there are probably a lot of elemental quirks that aren't related by blood. We know now that Endeavor has a connection with Dabi and Hawks. Your reaction to Dabi reveal was amazing
I really couldn't believe how they didn't realise something so blatantly obvious. But I'm glad they didn't, it made for GREAT content. I just hope they actually understand how Dabi/Touya is actually written and where whose responsibility and fault lies rather than those who just look at it superficially and turn into fanboys of a mass murderer, not able to distinct between responsibility of opening this path up someone and the choice and blame of actually walking it. Dabi is an interesting character, even though adult Dabi is very bland and his depth comes from elsewhere. For all of the villains, just don't forget this: Grey-zones exist. You can fault society for not accepting Toga's faible for blood or for not stretching their hand out to Shigaraki. But at the end of the day, it's the villains themselves who chose to walk the path they do now. They are the ones who chose terrorism and mass murder. They are the ones who chose destruction. And they are the only ones to blame for their actions. Responsibility for them discovering that this path exists also lies in certain people - in Endeavor, in society as a whole. But that responsibility is different from the blame for their crimes. This is such an important distinction that most people miss, because the portrayal of characters as grey rather than having every ounce of a hero being perfect and any ounce of a villain being pure evil causes them to "overcompensate" and demonise heroes and the sloth of "innocents" while putting the villains on a pedestal and seeing only the troubled past, only the "victim". But that's not the right way to look at it. Dabi made the choice to seek out more than 30 innocent people and murder them. Even if he did it to destroy Endeavor's reputation, even if his reason was vengeance, Dabi is the one who made this choice along and he is the only one to blame for it. Clan liability does not exist and Dabi is an adult. Dabi is a tragic character, he is also a victim and he was wronged in his childhood. Endeavor is responsible for that. So Endeavor is reponsible for opening up that path for Dabi, for increasing the risk that he would go that way. But first and foremost, Dabi is a perpetrator. He chose to walk that path, and it wasn't as a child in a traumatic frenzy or psychosis. He chose to walk that path of cold, calculated mass murder as an adult, after having been away from Endeavor for more than 10 years. And that choice is something we can and should fault Touya for. 14:20 And you probably know by now, but this right here is a lie or lost in translation. It is confirmed that there was no rape involved at any point. As you can see with the Hawks part, Dabi obviously doesn't tell the whole story but what benefits his cause - and he only has one cause. To make Endeavor suffer as much as possible. There's nothing else on his mind. That's why he doesn't really care about his comrades either, why he was always a bit of an exception within the league. Already cannot wait for the next episode!
MHA is big on empathy for the villains not necessarily sympathy. I have seen a lot of fans accuse Horikoshi of trying to excuse all the villains actions and make people feel bad for them. I often people miss the point of showing the villains origins is meant to help us understand how they became the villains and highlight flaws in society that contribute to people falling through the cracks, but he never excuse the villains’ actions though. They still need to pay for their crimes, but if the heroes can also help rehabilitate them as well that is great. Also hearing their stories can help fix the flaws to prevent the next lost soul from becoming the next Shigaraki or Toga. It feels like the fandom either completely sympathize with the villains and excuse them of everything or completely overlook their origins and deem them evil from the start. It is as because it turns a gray issues into black and white issues that ironically a lot of people claim to hate in these stories.
@@Jjop017 Precisely. That's why I put so much emphasis on responsibility and blame. The series shows us several factors that make it easier for some to walk down the path of evil. But at the end of the day, the responsibility for actually walking that path lies with the villains themselves. And so does the blame for their actions. That's the distinction. Those factors do carry some responsibility for them turning out the way they did, they are meant to show us how the world needs to be changed. But they don't excuse anything. And that's where people get the wrong idea and go overboard. You wouldn't imagine how often I've heard people go "Dabi isn't too evil, and he deserves to kill Endeavor for what he's been through." - and that's a very easy way to spot someone who has no idea what they're talking about and lacks proper reading comprehension. Dabi is arguably one of the most evil characters in the series, and he's been portrayed as someone well beyond saving, well beyond redemption, well beyond atonement even. But he still wasn't born evil and it were his circumstances who opened up that path for him. He was the one who decided to go down that path rather than choose another one in the end, but he still wasn't born evil. It's almost infuriating. People being like "Yeah, Dabi was a victim, too, so I'm not mad at him because I understand he's not evil", thinking they're deep are so off it hurts. There are people calling for Shigaraki and Dabi to be saved in a way that lets them off the hook. Imagine if you could excuse any crime, no matter how vile, with childhood trauma or a troubled life? How many murderers would go free? How many victims would never get justice? Considering how much people always flame series if they are too "black or white", they can handle different shades of grey really horribly and essentially turn them into something akin to black and white again - just the wrong way around because of their overcompensation. It's almost funny - the people who are saying Tenko should get away without consequences and Dabi deserves to kill are the same screaming for Endeavor to be rotting in jail for neglecting his children and hitting Rei and Shoto. I don't know if they're that emotionally loaded, but it's like they actively try to not understand.
@@mrcx6142 In my experience people say they want more shades of gray stories, but at the same time whenever a story shows flaws of the heroes and that the villains have some better qualities or sympathetic motives they magnify the heroes flaws to make them seem completely evil and magnify the villains better qualities to make them the heroes. They turn things into a black and white issue and erase the nuances ironically. It is not surprising for MHA. The Todoroki family drama is a good example. Some fans hate Fuyumi for pushing her brothers into forgiving their dad too fast and be completely unsympathetic to her feelings while another group demonizing Natsu for still not being over his issues and dislike how he treats his dad with distain. Despite Horikoshi treating their family situation pretty fairly, by having all the children express different opinions of their dad and never paints one as being in the wrong for feeling the way they do. I love Endeavor’s character arc and he has become one of my favorite characters. I hope his atonement works out. At the same time I completely understand Natsu’s views and am fine if he never gets to a place where he wants his dad back into his life. Some reactors get upset at Natsu for his feelings and want him to give his dad a break. While it is easier for us viewers to get behind Endeavor because we have had years of seeing how change whereas within the universe it has only been maybe half a year since Endeavor’s change. Sometimes I think people forget that when they criticize Natsu for being stubborn or unfair to his dad.
@@Jjop017 You paraphrased me pretty well there with your first paragraph. With the rest, I agree for the most part. That said, I can't say I've seen a lot of hate for either Natsuo or Fuyumi, if any at all. And there shouldn't be any. Those two are very underrated parts of the plotline that make it all the more realistic. Different feelings, different experiences, different approaches to forgiveness. The only people who cannot appreciate that either haven't understood it or are so caught in their emotional reaction that everyone and everything going against their opinion is the enemy. One thing that doesn't help, of course, is that the anime did make things slightly worse than the manga, and especially that line that some interpret as rape even though the opposite was stated. So that's a common misconception leading to a very strong adversity to forgiveness. I would like to go on but I would go too far into spoiler territory. All I can say without going there is that we've seen how Fuyumi probably understands the best how Endeavor works. Whether she wants to work to be a real family again because she does understand him best or whether she wanted a family so much that she tried to understand him until she could, that's up for debate.
It is kind of interesting that they harp on Hawks killing a villain when their cities are being destroyed. It kind of shows just how much of an impact All Might had on society, we had never really seen villains be killed, only captured due to the one-sidedness of All Might's ability.
I don’t think it is solely heroes shouldn’t ever kill villains though. The villains did manipulate the context of why Hawks killed Twice though. In the edit they make it seem like Twice was running away and Hawks killed him just like that. The villains changed the narrative to fit with Endeavor reveal to try to show heroes aren’t actually good people with the public’s best interest at heart, but rather shady and vain individuals who are using the public to secure their status and fame while secretly doing underhanded and dirty things. Dabi’s plan was to destroy people’s image of heroes and make them question if the destruction brought on to these cities was the result of the heroes shady actions or incompetence brought on by them “fakes” that Stain talked about. It’s the final mail of the coffin after the League’s attacks gradually getting bigger and bigger throughout the year until this last one leveled 21 cities.
Yes, but it's also because they received information without the correct context. They essentially got a message "Hero kills Villain who was fleeing, had his back turned to him, had given up and was unwilling to fight, so how just can those heroes be?" When the correct context was "Hero left no choice but to kill the villain posing the single largest threat to the entirety of Japan after apprehending him peacefully was made impossible by me, Dabi, and the villain was about to go all out".
@MRCX yeah, it's less "Twice was murdered trying to run away" and more "Twice was killed to stop him from joining the war". Plus all the preamble of Hawks trying to get Jin to switch sides or come quietly
@@CrownofMischief Yes. At the end of the day, the reason Hawks had to kill Twice was Dabi. Because even with Twice retaliating in that room, Hawks still had him under control and arguably could have done him in without killing him. But Dabi made this impossible. And allowing Twice to let lose on the battlefield would have essentially meant having to deal with a multitude of Dabis, a multitude of Shigaraki's. That alone would have spelt utter annihilation for the heroes and the entirety of the country.
why are you so fixated on the eyes? how many millions of people have blue eyes? his hair was black and his face is mutilated, it would be very hard for him to be recognized and he knows that, he decided to look like that precisely so that no one would recognize him, and when he finally revealed himself he just washed the paint away like it was very simple and acted like he was chocked that Endeavor didn't recognize him all this just to inflict even more emotional pain on Endeavor, he doesn't feel one bit bad that his that didn't recongnize him, it was part of his plan, he didn't want to be recognized
I mean, have you seen other anime? Eye colour plays a huge part in parentage and stuff. Off the top of my head, boruto characters are basically taking the body of one parent and the eyes of the other parent. It's a pretty common trope in anime. So yes, it makes sense to connect the eye colour. You say it's that common? Name a few characters in MHA with the same light blue coloured eyes.
I feel you, but don't worry. It was so blatantly clear that most people who gave it a thought just weren't surprised anymore. That "theory" was more or less accepted as the truth for many years before it was officially confirmed in the manga community. So most people just weren't shocked, but more like "neat, finally confirmation".
That's 95% of the community anyway, even before the chapter dropped 😂 It still outtrended the presidential election because of how iconic Dabi dancing during the reveal, and that DNA test to go along with, were.
You could tell on Deku , Bakugo, and Shoto faces that knew they were going to die the moment he said promience burn. I felt bad for Endeavor and Shoto. Their faces were horrified and shock.
Nope. It may be the first time he said "dad" to him, but he referred to him aka called him dad before, when Endeavor was fighting Hood. "Dad, I'm watching." Although perhaps that was creative freedom with the translation.
Everything that happened to Dabi is on his own back, yes it's cold to say it but it is. due to the mixing of the Quirk traits, Dabi couldn't regulate his body temperature properly and his flames were instinctively stronger than Endeavours. This caused him to have burns when he uses his Quirk and because of this both his parents forbid him from using it. But Dabit - or Toya as he was then - was a person who idolised his Father and wanted to be like him so he kept trying and training and hurting himself, eventually losing control over his flames and burning himself seemingly to death. That then has Endeavour make the decision that he's never going to allow anything like this again, the instant a kid of his shows a small chance of ending up like Toya, he 'cut them off' in a sense and left them for their normal lives. This then causes a rift between him and his wife - who genuinely do care for each other -and he gets angry as she gets angry, Shoto and the kids only see it from the angry dad perspective as the anger their mother shows is always behind closed doors. Then the scene with the kettle happens and everything implodes in the family. All because of obsession from a father and a son both who love the other more than the obsession but couldn't fix that in time. and I swear if I hear complaining I am done.
His wife did consent, though. The translation/the anime imply rape, but it's confirmed that Rei consented and there was no rape involved. Endeavor's goals and his sins were still despicable, no doubt about that, but let's not make things even worse than they were.

After they found out that Touya wouldn't be able to defeat All might due to how his quirk affects his body, Endeavour "sold her" the idea (not really because she never believed it in tbe first place) that if they kept having kids until getting one with the perfect quirk that would make Touya give up on being a hero. And Rei's response to that was quite literally "that's just too cruel". But not having an idea on her own and being unable to actually defy Endeavor's demands she was coerced by him into going with that plan and pretty much used her as a gacha machine. On top of that, just look at her expressions in the manga. They seriously aren't the expressions of someone that is happy with what she's doing.
@@giboit. Now that's just you lying. Obviously [Spoilers Ahead] First of all, Rei was the one who brought up having a second child to begin with, because she wanted a sibling for Touya. Endeavor consented and they had Fuyumi. What you are referring to happened after Fuyumi. Endeavor wanted to try again because of his ambition, with shattering Touya's being a secondary effect. And that's what Rei is referring to what she says "No, that would be too cruel." - it would be cruel to Touya. The expressions in the anime and in the manga are also different. The anime made it look like Endeavor was glancing at her, adding to the implication that he forced her. However, it's a different story in the manga, where Endeavor's glance was NOT directed at Rei. So Rei was opposed at first but eventually gave in and agreed, that much is confirmed. And while you can debate about pressure being on her and that the situation may have left her little choice - there are points for this to be made, although there are points against it as well - that's different from outright rape. Talking someone into it, while still morally very questionable, isn't rape if they actually consent out of their free will in the end. It's a very, very important distinction. Rei made that choice as well because in the end she agreed that she didn't have any better idea how to get Touya to stop training and hurting himself. So sure, those two kids weren't born out of love between their parents, but they weren't conceived through rape either. And come on now, think about it - do you actually believe the story would go like it does in terms of Endeavor's atonement and the family getting ready to forgive him if fucking rape was involved? Do you actually think Fuyumi, the one who realised just about anything that was going on, would pursue the idea of them being a family if actual rape was involved? Come on now.
@@mrcx6142 That's why I said that she was okay with having one (more) kid. That's it. And nope, Rei wasn't okay at all with having more kids than that. Not only she didn't buy Endeavour's excuse of "Touya will give up when we get a child with the perfect quirk" but she also didn't have an idea on her own and couldn't defy Endeavor's demands so she pretty much was coerced into having more kids to fullfil Endeavor's selfish ambitions. She though that having kids to crush Touya's dreams was cruel but she also thought that it was a cruel destiny for herself, who didn't even wanted to go along with that nonsensical plan. But once again she was coerced by Endeavor into going along with it despite not wanting to follow that plan at all. And I'm not talking at all about Endeavor's glare. I'm talking about Rei's expressions. Does that look like the face of someone that agreed to anything? Of course not. The manga goes out of its way to show how pretty dead inside she felt following that plan. As I said, she was coerced into having more kids with Endeavor pretty much using her as a gacha machine and Rei's mental state deteriorated as a result of this and the physical and mental abuse. And I personally think that Endeavor's redemption would've been far more believable if he got to the conclusion about what he did was wrong before he got the title of #1 hero. Him trying to redeem himself after getting the title just makes it look as if he deep down is just doing to live up to the expectations of what the #1 is supposed to represent. Not from actual guilt. But that's a whole different issue.

You are born-again with the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and are not only legally justified before God, but also are accredited His righteous (Romans 4:24). Believers live for Christ now, so get to know Him through His Word. His life was shitty and Endeavor was the cause of α large part of it, but Toya’s actions are his own. Just like how Shoto’s power is his own and not his father’s, Dabi’s responsibility for his actions lies with him and not Endeavor.

I could be wrong. Ppl correct me if I am. But I believe when Dabi jumped down to attack, it was the 1st time Shoto called Endeavor dad. “Dad he’s coming dad!” Stating he finally accepts him as a father and to snap out of it. That he’s coming to KILL us.

I’m glad that you weren’t spoiled on Dabi. I hope that more people come to the understanding that reactions are a lot more fun and satisfying when the story itself reveals such a huge bit of information.
As far as Dabi, his perspective is basically whatever he mentioned in his video to the world, but, like him, we still haven’t gotten all the pieces to the Todoroki puzzle, and that’s what makes their drama so interesting.
The best plot twists aren’t the ones you didn’t see coming, they are the ones where you question “how could I not have seen it sooner”!
Kudos to the both of you for managing to stay in the dark up to this point! Especially considering Dabi's true identity was probably the most widely circulating theory among fans _long_ before the reveal happened, lol. I think you're the first reactors I've seen to link his connection to Endeavor by eye color, though.... most folks simply see the flame power as the biggest giveaway.

Little side note, in the manga, Toga never explains the big thing about Jin. Which is why Ochako is so confused. Because she's not exactly sure why she's talking to her. But she instantly regrets shutting her down once she sees that she was crying. And it pushes her to question why Toga was upset. Which is why the anime having Toga mention her reason for being upset last episode kinda takes away from Ochako's confusion and trying to understand Toga. Toga does love Ochako the same way she loves Stain and Izuku. So essentially, one of her crushes didn't get what she was trying to convey. Which has to suck.
When this reveal happened in the manga, it actually out trended the literal US election. Dabi is built different.
Also, it's really funny how Shigaraki gave that speech a few episodes ago about how heroes will destroy their families and Endeavor completely ignored him. Only for one of the biggest examples of him being selfish and destroying his own family to appear. Endeavor is trying to improve, yes. But that doesn't mean his past actions just go away. He added fuel to that poor boy's flames and then tossed him aside once he realized he wasn't the perfect child he wanted to create. And now, Touya will reduce everything to ash. Him and Skeptic pulled through with the tag team of the century.

A lot of people felt that it was pretty obvious from the time where Dabi kidnapped Bakugo and called out Shoto specifically as they were leaving.

Things are definitely not going the Heroes so im glad that Best Jeanist cane to help. It makes sense why Endeavor didn't know Dabi was his kid considering there are probably a lot of elemental quirks that aren't related by blood. We know now that Endeavor has a connection with Dabi and Hawks.

I really couldn't believe how they didn't realise something so blatantly obvious. But I'm glad they didn't, it made for GREAT content.
I just hope they actually understand how Dabi/Touya is actually written and where whose responsibility and fault lies rather than those who just look at it superficially and turn into fanboys of a mass murderer, not able to distinct between responsibility of opening this path up someone and the choice and blame of actually walking it.
Dabi is an interesting character, even though adult Dabi is very bland and his depth comes from elsewhere.
For all of the villains, just don't forget this: Grey-zones exist. You can fault society for not accepting Toga's faible for blood or for not stretching their hand out to Shigaraki. But at the end of the day, it's the villains themselves who chose to walk the path they do now. They are the ones who chose terrorism and mass murder. They are the ones who chose destruction. And they are the only ones to blame for their actions.
Responsibility for them discovering that this path exists also lies in certain people - in Endeavor, in society as a whole. But that responsibility is different from the blame for their crimes. This is such an important distinction that most people miss, because the portrayal of characters as grey rather than having every ounce of a hero being perfect and any ounce of a villain being pure evil causes them to "overcompensate" and demonise heroes and the sloth of "innocents" while putting the villains on a pedestal and seeing only the troubled past, only the "victim".
But that's not the right way to look at it. Dabi made the choice to seek out more than 30 innocent people and murder them. Even if he did it to destroy Endeavor's reputation, even if his reason was vengeance, Dabi is the one who made this choice along and he is the only one to blame for it. Clan liability does not exist and Dabi is an adult.
Dabi is a tragic character, he is also a victim and he was wronged in his childhood. Endeavor is responsible for that. So Endeavor is reponsible for opening up that path for Dabi, for increasing the risk that he would go that way. But first and foremost, Dabi is a perpetrator. He chose to walk that path, and it wasn't as a child in a traumatic frenzy or psychosis. He chose to walk that path of cold, calculated mass murder as an adult, after having been away from Endeavor for more than 10 years. And that choice is something we can and should fault Touya for.
14:20 And you probably know by now, but this right here is a lie or lost in translation. It is confirmed that there was no rape involved at any point. As you can see with the Hawks part, Dabi obviously doesn't tell the whole story but what benefits his cause - and he only has one cause. To make Endeavor suffer as much as possible. There's nothing else on his mind. That's why he doesn't really care about his comrades either, why he was always a bit of an exception within the league.

MHA is big on empathy for the villains not necessarily sympathy. I have seen a lot of fans accuse Horikoshi of trying to excuse all the villains actions and make people feel bad for them. I often people miss the point of showing the villains origins is meant to help us understand how they became the villains and highlight flaws in society that contribute to people falling through the cracks, but he never excuse the villains’ actions though. They still need to pay for their crimes, but if the heroes can also help rehabilitate them as well that is great. Also hearing their stories can help fix the flaws to prevent the next lost soul from becoming the next Shigaraki or Toga.
It feels like the fandom either completely sympathize with the villains and excuse them of everything or completely overlook their origins and deem them evil from the start. It is as because it turns a gray issues into black and white issues that ironically a lot of people claim to hate in these stories.

The series shows us several factors that make it easier for some to walk down the path of evil.
But at the end of the day, the responsibility for actually walking that path lies with the villains themselves. And so does the blame for their actions.
That's the distinction. Those factors do carry some responsibility for them turning out the way they did, they are meant to show us how the world needs to be changed. But they don't excuse anything. And that's where people get the wrong idea and go overboard. You wouldn't imagine how often I've heard people go "Dabi isn't too evil, and he deserves to kill Endeavor for what he's been through." - and that's a very easy way to spot someone who has no idea what they're talking about and lacks proper reading comprehension.
Dabi is arguably one of the most evil characters in the series, and he's been portrayed as someone well beyond saving, well beyond redemption, well beyond atonement even. But he still wasn't born evil and it were his circumstances who opened up that path for him.
He was the one who decided to go down that path rather than choose another one in the end, but he still wasn't born evil.
It's almost infuriating. People being like "Yeah, Dabi was a victim, too, so I'm not mad at him because I understand he's not evil", thinking they're deep are so off it hurts.
There are people calling for Shigaraki and Dabi to be saved in a way that lets them off the hook. Imagine if you could excuse any crime, no matter how vile, with childhood trauma or a troubled life? How many murderers would go free? How many victims would never get justice?
Considering how much people always flame series if they are too "black or white", they can handle different shades of grey really horribly and essentially turn them into something akin to black and white again - just the wrong way around because of their overcompensation. It's almost funny - the people who are saying Tenko should get away without consequences and Dabi deserves to kill are the same screaming for Endeavor to be rotting in jail for neglecting his children and hitting Rei and Shoto.
I don't know if they're that emotionally loaded, but it's like they actively try to not understand.
@@mrcx6142 In my experience people say they want more shades of gray stories, but at the same time whenever a story shows flaws of the heroes and that the villains have some better qualities or sympathetic motives they magnify the heroes flaws to make them seem completely evil and magnify the villains better qualities to make them the heroes. They turn things into a black and white issue and erase the nuances ironically.
It is not surprising for MHA. The Todoroki family drama is a good example. Some fans hate Fuyumi for pushing her brothers into forgiving their dad too fast and be completely unsympathetic to her feelings while another group demonizing Natsu for still not being over his issues and dislike how he treats his dad with distain. Despite Horikoshi treating their family situation pretty fairly, by having all the children express different opinions of their dad and never paints one as being in the wrong for feeling the way they do.
I love Endeavor’s character arc and he has become one of my favorite characters. I hope his atonement works out. At the same time I completely understand Natsu’s views and am fine if he never gets to a place where he wants his dad back into his life. Some reactors get upset at Natsu for his feelings and want him to give his dad a break. While it is easier for us viewers to get behind Endeavor because we have had years of seeing how change whereas within the universe it has only been maybe half a year since Endeavor’s change. Sometimes I think people forget that when they criticize Natsu for being stubborn or unfair to his dad.

With the rest, I agree for the most part. That said, I can't say I've seen a lot of hate for either Natsuo or Fuyumi, if any at all.
And there shouldn't be any. Those two are very underrated parts of the plotline that make it all the more realistic. Different feelings, different experiences, different approaches to forgiveness. The only people who cannot appreciate that either haven't understood it or are so caught in their emotional reaction that everyone and everything going against their opinion is the enemy.
One thing that doesn't help, of course, is that the anime did make things slightly worse than the manga, and especially that line that some interpret as rape even though the opposite was stated. So that's a common misconception leading to a very strong adversity to forgiveness.
I would like to go on but I would go too far into spoiler territory. All I can say without going there is that we've seen how Fuyumi probably understands the best how Endeavor works. Whether she wants to work to be a real family again because she does understand him best or whether she wanted a family so much that she tried to understand him until she could, that's up for debate.

It is kind of interesting that they harp on Hawks killing a villain when their cities are being destroyed. It kind of shows just how much of an impact All Might had on society, we had never really seen villains be killed, only captured due to the one-sidedness of All Might's ability.
I don’t think it is solely heroes shouldn’t ever kill villains though. The villains did manipulate the context of why Hawks killed Twice though. In the edit they make it seem like Twice was running away and Hawks killed him just like that. The villains changed the narrative to fit with Endeavor reveal to try to show heroes aren’t actually good people with the public’s best interest at heart, but rather shady and vain individuals who are using the public to secure their status and fame while secretly doing underhanded and dirty things.
Dabi’s plan was to destroy people’s image of heroes and make them question if the destruction brought on to these cities was the result of the heroes shady actions or incompetence brought on by them “fakes” that Stain talked about. It’s the final mail of the coffin after the League’s attacks gradually getting bigger and bigger throughout the year until this last one leveled 21 cities.

They essentially got a message "Hero kills Villain who was fleeing, had his back turned to him, had given up and was unwilling to fight, so how just can those heroes be?"
When the correct context was "Hero left no choice but to kill the villain posing the single largest threat to the entirety of Japan after apprehending him peacefully was made impossible by me, Dabi, and the villain was about to go all out".

@@CrownofMischief Yes. At the end of the day, the reason Hawks had to kill Twice was Dabi. Because even with Twice retaliating in that room, Hawks still had him under control and arguably could have done him in without killing him. But Dabi made this impossible. And allowing Twice to let lose on the battlefield would have essentially meant having to deal with a multitude of Dabis, a multitude of Shigaraki's. That alone would have spelt utter annihilation for the heroes and the entirety of the country.

I mean, have you seen other anime? Eye colour plays a huge part in parentage and stuff. Off the top of my head, boruto characters are basically taking the body of one parent and the eyes of the other parent. It's a pretty common trope in anime. So yes, it makes sense to connect the eye colour.

I feel you, but don't worry. It was so blatantly clear that most people who gave it a thought just weren't surprised anymore.
That "theory" was more or less accepted as the truth for many years before it was officially confirmed in the manga community. So most people just weren't shocked, but more like "neat, finally confirmation".
That's 95% of the community anyway, even before the chapter dropped 😂 It still outtrended the presidential election because of how iconic Dabi dancing during the reveal, and that DNA test to go along with, were.

Everything that happened to Dabi is on his own back, yes it's cold to say it but it is.
due to the mixing of the Quirk traits, Dabi couldn't regulate his body temperature properly and his flames were instinctively stronger than Endeavours. This caused him to have burns when he uses his Quirk and because of this both his parents forbid him from using it.
But Dabit - or Toya as he was then - was a person who idolised his Father and wanted to be like him so he kept trying and training and hurting himself, eventually losing control over his flames and burning himself seemingly to death.
That then has Endeavour make the decision that he's never going to allow anything like this again, the instant a kid of his shows a small chance of ending up like Toya, he 'cut them off' in a sense and left them for their normal lives.
This then causes a rift between him and his wife - who genuinely do care for each other -and he gets angry as she gets angry, Shoto and the kids only see it from the angry dad perspective as the anger their mother shows is always behind closed doors.
Then the scene with the kettle happens and everything implodes in the family.
All because of obsession from a father and a son both who love the other more than the obsession but couldn't fix that in time.

His wife did consent, though. The translation/the anime imply rape, but it's confirmed that Rei consented and there was no rape involved.

Nope. She didn't. She was okay with having one child. That's it. After they found out that Touya wouldn't be able to defeat All might due to how his quirk affects his body, Endeavour "sold her" the idea (not really because she never believed it in tbe first place) that if they kept having kids until getting one with the perfect quirk that would make Touya give up on being a hero.
And Rei's response to that was quite literally "that's just too cruel". But not having an idea on her own and being unable to actually defy Endeavor's demands she was coerced by him into going with that plan and pretty much used her as a gacha machine.
On top of that, just look at her expressions in the manga. They seriously aren't the expressions of someone that is happy with what she's doing.

First of all, Rei was the one who brought up having a second child to begin with, because she wanted a sibling for Touya. Endeavor consented and they had Fuyumi.
What you are referring to happened after Fuyumi. Endeavor wanted to try again because of his ambition, with shattering Touya's being a secondary effect. And that's what Rei is referring to what she says "No, that would be too cruel." - it would be cruel to Touya.
The expressions in the anime and in the manga are also different. The anime made it look like Endeavor was glancing at her, adding to the implication that he forced her. However, it's a different story in the manga, where Endeavor's glance was NOT directed at Rei.
So Rei was opposed at first but eventually gave in and agreed, that much is confirmed. And while you can debate about pressure being on her and that the situation may have left her little choice - there are points for this to be made, although there are points against it as well - that's different from outright rape. Talking someone into it, while still morally very questionable, isn't rape if they actually consent out of their free will in the end. It's a very, very important distinction. Rei made that choice as well because in the end she agreed that she didn't have any better idea how to get Touya to stop training and hurting himself.
So sure, those two kids weren't born out of love between their parents, but they weren't conceived through rape either.
And come on now, think about it - do you actually believe the story would go like it does in terms of Endeavor's atonement and the family getting ready to forgive him if fucking rape was involved?
Do you actually think Fuyumi, the one who realised just about anything that was going on, would pursue the idea of them being a family if actual rape was involved? Come on now.

And nope, Rei wasn't okay at all with having more kids than that. Not only she didn't buy Endeavour's excuse of "Touya will give up when we get a child with the perfect quirk" but she also didn't have an idea on her own and couldn't defy Endeavor's demands so she pretty much was coerced into having more kids to fullfil Endeavor's selfish ambitions.
She though that having kids to crush Touya's dreams was cruel but she also thought that it was a cruel destiny for herself, who didn't even wanted to go along with that nonsensical plan. But once again she was coerced by Endeavor into going along with it despite not wanting to follow that plan at all.
And I'm not talking at all about Endeavor's glare. I'm talking about Rei's expressions. Does that look like the face of someone that agreed to anything? Of course not. The manga goes out of its way to show how pretty dead inside she felt following that plan.
As I said, she was coerced into having more kids with Endeavor pretty much using her as a gacha machine and Rei's mental state deteriorated as a result of this and the physical and mental abuse.
And I personally think that Endeavor's redemption would've been far more believable if he got to the conclusion about what he did was wrong before he got the title of #1 hero. Him trying to redeem himself after getting the title just makes it look as if he deep down is just doing to live up to the expectations of what the #1 is supposed to represent. Not from actual guilt. But that's a whole different issue.

You are born-again with the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and are not only legally justified before God, but also are accredited His righteous (Romans 4:24). I recommend reading the book of Romans and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), and watching Pastor Joseph Prince’s online sermons!
