I have this generation Type S diesel, it's a hoot. A bit heavy on the front end but it's been solid as a rock for the past 3 years. Anything with a 0-60 under 9 seconds for me is a fine machine enough for any daily driver. Interestingly it's slightly quicker than it's petrol counter part to 60 and in the real world over taking or accelerating off a slip road it destroys the petrol version, not as quick as a Type R though obviously but still, it's a good giggle capable of over 65mpg on flat motorway usage at 60mph.
I had a 2010 fn2 in the same red, owned it for just over 4 years and all I did to it was drilled and vented discs and pads all round, regular servicing, good quality oil etc, yokohama tyres all round etc ! It never missed a beat in all the time I owned it..
Buying a cheap Fn2, prepare to pay a bit getting it back to a good example. They can hide a few mechanical issues and cosmetically they don't age well.I overpaid for mine and learnt my lesson but I've enjoyed ever minute slowly fixing and correcting the issue with it.Im planning on keeping this car for a long time as a I think it's brilliant for what it is. In this day and age It really doesn't look like it has aged, and it has so much character.
I just managed to pick one up for £1500 with mot till next year, its going to need a few things but i think it deserves to be taken back to its former glory. Its drives so much better than I thought it would
Totally with you on Type R's (and Honda as a brand). For me the pin up car I always wanted was the Integra Type R (DC2) and dream car the MK1 NSX. In reality what I had was a few humble yet still cool old school Civic's.
i bought a modded fn2 type-r - muggen wing - hkf induction kit - Malian sports exhaust - engine remap vtek at 4000rpm this cars is a riot ! a friend has a stock one its night and day with theses 2 cars when they have these mods there just so good I've come from a Nissan 370z and a Porsche Boxster S and have just as much fun in my fn2 type-r its cost me almost nothing for the almost 4 years I've owned it ! so still reliable as hell !
I’m in my fourth year with my fn2 bought it for £9k at dealership with 38k on the clock full Honda history I daily drive it now had 48k on the clock will be keeping it for as long as possible I love it
Hi, I own a 08 plate FN2 Type R in red. Had it 2 years now. Like you said in the video, super reliable and fun to drive. I use it every day for getting to work etc. Great car.
I relate to you so much as a fellow petrol head. I dreamed of the type r's and st's growing up.. now im into my 30s and am lucky enough to have had some beautiful n/a V8s.. but still hanker back to my ep3/fn2 and the glorious 5pot mk2 st 😍 we really have grown up in the golden era of ice beasts 😊 Keep up the good work 👍
Loved this! Thank you! A family with a full Honda fleet of well behaving civics and jazzes, this one is really tempting me, given the low prices and more oomph!
I had an fn2 back in 2010. I kicked it’s cunt in every day and it never broke once. I used to travel from Glasgow to Greenock and back again during the night when the roads were dead and it would happily sit flat out in every gear and it made a cool noise. I felt more confident down a b road in my type r than in my s3. Probably because it’s manual and I grew up driving manual cars.
I’m also a fan of Honda cars and there is a red 2009 on eBay for sale with 98400 miles , needs work with usual leaky seals etc , current bid is £2150 or £4k buy now . Looks ok but needs TLC and a bit of money to get it back to what it should be . Good video 👍
Better than the ep3 in so many ways, steering is night and day better in the fn2 and as a liveable car , I paid 2400 for a 2008, needed a clutch but cheap. Loved it for a few track days and even managed to take me and my parents to Germany for Christmas, ( had a cheap Tt as the daily and my 70yr old mum was never going to get in the back of that and live) . I own an ep3 so I can slag the ep3 off. Just bin those rage wheels,
Totally with you on this one ive had some nice turbo charged cars in the past but always had a soft spot for the type r's especially the ek9 i had over 10 years ago
I bought one in 2007 when I saw Tiff race against a motorbike round Cadwell. I swapped it for a Mugen a couple of years later. I would have the Mugen back in a flash. 😍
I am a Honda fan i have two fn2 type r cars and my son has a Mugen ltd edition probably the most reliable sports cars the working guy can buy, the k20 engine is unbreakable if serviced regularly.
In Spain these cars cost around 13.000-17.000€ in good conditions. I have one since September, practicaly brand-new, 125.000km, two owners, with invidia exhaust and Im sure that will be my car for lots of years.
Great video…I wouldn’t trust my judgement on such a purchase, but the type R is a very interesting alternative as a weekend/fun car….think I’ll look into
Keep that filter , it’s doing a great job of sooking in all The hot air under the bonnet ! Just what you want ….. No wait a minute that’s not right is it 😂
Hi grant glad you bought one of these I own one myself been a great car unfortunately it does need the rear beam axle done witch I’m doing I’m Gary’s older brother Gary with the black golf r 😂great content can’t wait to see more updates on the type r 🤛🏻
Will do but at present saving for a RS focus mk2 Sold my escoz 15yrs ago after a bad bike crash and want another RS again and allways loved the 5 pot Mk2 Hopefully by Easter will be able to look properly with the right budget. Good luck with your Frog RS keep us all updated Drew

I had the CTDI Civic for 8 years. Amazing engine.

We've never had a mot fail with our old fn2 r, paint laqure is rubbish but ours is low miles and standard.
I just managed to pick one up for £1500 with mot till next year, its going to need a few things but i think it deserves to be taken back to its former glory. Its drives so much better than I thought it would

I'm just about to buy my first fn2 type r, and I have also owned boxsters and a 370z in the past. So it's good to hear that these are just as fun.

Exactly the ep3 steering is woeful
I love FN2 Type R, I got a red 2009 had it 3 years now and use it as my daily. 😊

Our 57 plate ooaarr is great just paint is in need or repair, but the engineering is great.
Have a CRZ back home, (on a gap year at the moment) but the FN2 seems like a logical next step for me, either that or a MX5, love my Hondas and Mazdas
I am a Honda fan i have two fn2 type r cars and my son has a Mugen ltd edition probably the most reliable sports cars the working guy can buy, the k20 engine is unbreakable if serviced regularly.
Love this car I've went from a 02 1.6 sport and two 2.2 diesels this is by far the most fun.
Hi Grant, cool NASA shuttle jacket! I bought the Blue Shuttle crew one as well as most of the gift shop at KSC!
Great vid! Love the channel!👍🏴

You couldn't find a Type R under 25,000 in America.
You wanna buy mine from UK
It's incredbile the prices that are in the Uk, in Romania where the average sallary is 600 euro, the cheapest one you can buy is 10.000 euro.
I’ve had my FN3 for 11 years now, been solid, just had rear axle and entire floor under sealed and treated
Love it ❤
I had one from new 2007 was great and never went wrong until i got a meg rs250 in 2010/11
Fn2 is a brilliant car 👏
Looking forward to seeing more of this fn2
You’ve had a few of these now mate! Great cars
I've owned 2 of these in black, most recent one was just last year, would I have a 3rd? Absolutely! But only if it was a mint example
Price going up slowly now day 🤣👍🏻 wing mirror easy to fix it, just £10 about
Rust would worry me,always fancied the Mugen just for rarity and difference from modern cars, but they are a bit pricy.
Keep that filter , it’s doing a great job of sooking in all
The hot air under the bonnet !
Just what you want …..
No wait a minute that’s not right is it 😂

I was gonna say the clio 172 / 182s could be had for the same price.. but not as reliable.
So not expecting a Hoonigan colab then 😂
ep3's if you can find decent example
I'd love that subwoofer 👐
Radio Display is set for Klingon language lol!
Picking a black fn ctr gt on Weds with a 12 month for 2.5k. Couldnt believe my eyes. Dont care if its this or that for 2.5k
Lovely Jubbly motor, I really didn't know the Scottie's played cricket 😂.
Sold my mint fn2 in feb for £2300 with mugen goodies 94k miles from new
That is MEGA cheap. If you have any more of them give me a shout 😂
@@balforitown4274 new video on the focus this evening. It’s not looking good 😅
top car for 3k wow i want one m8
I try to avoid Type R for high insurance reasons. Does fuel consumption go up a lot when you floor it?
Lovely ❤️
I just wish you could get them as a 5 door, 3 just ain’t practical
Owned one for a few years, tbh didnt find it anymore reliable than say a vauxhall or ford, had a few issues.
Milano Pink 😂
The regular wheels are so much nicer than the Rages in my opinion
Good review mate.I will take the sub if you still have it?
That's a waste of money and well expensive
